Just get your keys right now, you'll want them around for quick access, once you learn how to...
Build a homemade flamethrower!! (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=1107178&perpage=40&pagenumber=1)
Homland Security is already on its way, but don't worry, just try to get it finsihed before they arrive.
;) ;)

[color=66ff00]Psychotically impressive.
Brownie points for build and resourcefullness.
Still, it's not particularly safe by any measure, I can tell you half a dozen things that could go wrong even if it was well built.

-
Yeah. I wouldn't hold it for anything.
-
a PVC flamethrower... you know I think I would have gone for medal pipeing.
Welcome to the USA, do you still wonder why nobody has tried ocupying our population in the last 200 years? :)
we've got millions of guys like this.
IED, fuck that! we don't need artilery shells to make bombs, we'll make ****ing flame flamethrowers out of PVC!
-
you can easily put napalm in air powerd paint sprayer and tape a road flare to the nozzle with duct tape. awe the pawn shop days :D
-
lessee, there's a good chance of over compression and having the tank explode..
make for a good water cannon, nonetheless.
-
I rue the day my cousin gets hold of this; I hardly ever see him not splitting fireworks open.
-
[color=66ff00]Hell dude, I live in a country famous for it's 'Large caliber' firework industry. :p

Beyond barbeques, what exactly is the use of this?
-
[color=66ff00]"Look at ME!" factor methinks.

hmmmmm this is interesting.......
-
For keeping the King of England out of your face, thats what.
Seriously, between this, various homemade explosives and submachine guns (yep, sort of a cross between and Uzi and an MP5), you could raise a pretty good paramilitary force if you were so inclined.
-
A paramilitary force that would likely be adept at shooting it's own foot, natch.

Meh. Liquid oxygen is much better for that sort of thing :)
-
Liquid oxygen? Freeze it till it burns? :nervous:
-
have you ever set that cold liquid oxygen alite, it burns quite redaly, it's what the space shutel uses.
-
While cool, its nothing really new or inventive. What ever happened to that guy who made a rail gun in his back yard?
-
Excellent, after we purchase the HLP carrier, we'll have our own marine landing force with PVC flamethrowers.
Everything is unfolding as planned.

well the only advantage of metal would be a higher pressure rating, but i'll bet he's not even close to the rated PSI rating on that PVC. the heat isn't a problem, since it the flame's projecting out, and the spray is only ignited a few inches after it exits the metal nozzle, therefore i'll bet even the nozzle stays cool

Liquid oxygen is actually a surprisingly good way to start fires. Even though it's very cold it can cause explosions if anything flammable falls into it.
When working with liquid nitrogen we were warned to change any dewer flask that ever took on a blue colour cause it meant that enough oxygen had condensed out of the air to make the flask dangerous.
No need to take my word for how good it is for lighting BBQs though cause I've found pictures (http://ep.llnl.gov/msds/Chem120/lox-oxidation.html)
EDIT : Another page. This one has mpegs (http://web.archive.org/web/20021003203611/ghg.ecn.purdue.edu/~ghg/)

Dear God...
The Internet is a very dangerous place... especially if you're a hotdog!
