Title: The chill thread
Post by: Stunaep on June 30, 2004, 05:17:06 pm
I´ve decided to create this thread for all the HLP'ers who wish to be happy, and enjoy life (in the cybernet or otherwise), so they can come here and chill out. Kinda like the virtual equivalent of a 110 Celsius sauna during the midlle of the winter, with a stone-cold river nearby, and two crates of beer in the freezer. No politics, no heated debates, no dickstretching contests (with exceptions to the latter rule), only good clean re-l-a-x-a-t-i-on

So, to start everything up, I'll post a picture of a cute hippie flower

*puts on "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" by The Beatles.*
*starts singing along*

I'm listening to "Castaway" and "Church on Sunday" by Green Day. I somehow missed them the first time around, and now by brother got a compliation of their best music, this was on it.

Good times.

edit: That was a not so subtle endoresement for you to go and download the songs.

Wow, where have you been? They got big around '96 or so. Actually, they were The **** all throughout the 90s, though I hear they're comming out with a new album. They're one of the most famous mainstream punk-rock bands, but they don't suck like most others. I recommend you educate yourself and get their International Superhits album.

 Nice day for a sulk
The girl smells of milk
Her horsey teeth explode around us
And we run for cover she found us
In the cheapo bar with a bag of chips
Nice day for a mood
The forecast is good
The kids are melting in the doorway
Keep the gang together
There's no way will you ever be misunderstood by me
Nice day for a jam
The Fall, Manfred Mann
Dance party, summer lasts forever
When the band's together and Bobby
Drank too much and fell in the Clyde

Punk's about the only type of music, that estonians really KNOW how to make.

www.vennaskond.com

If you can get past the fact the site and all the lyrics are in a language you've probably never heard before, I think you'll find it quite satisfying.

No idea, but by the inclusion of the words "Chill" and "Winston", I'd bet good money on it having to do something with Quentin Tarantino

nope, though it is by a director known for movies with a wierd sense of humour, like Tarantino.

LOL I made them about 4 years ago, I used to rely on Acid Pro for my drumbeats back then, which limited me to loops a lot of the time, I use Cubase and Battery now, which leaves me with a whole load of flexibility :)

Thanks :) I've got a few lying around...

These three were all made about 2 years ago and were inspired by Freespace ;)

Note : Some of these are quite quiet, I hadn't really got the hang of mixing in Cubase etc at the time :(

This is a short piece I did that I just like the feel of :-

What the hell.... This is an old test piece I did for Twisted Infinities, about a year ago :)

Radio Margaritaville (www.radiomargaritaville.com), plays a real variety of music, including an ass-load of Buffet.  That's a great way to relax, IMO.

Truely excellent thread.

May I encourage you all to listen to 'Iambic 5 poetry' by Squarepusher and 'On a white lake near a green mountain' by m83.

If you're going for more of a feel good vibe try some Sly and the family Stone.

suggest, heck I've got about 20-30 mp3's with his work lieing around. Speaking of bobs, Bobby mcferrin's rendition of "I feel good" is quite....different.
