I was playing FS earlier today, and noticed that the Colussus has 3 engine subsystems that don't appear to do anything. Its got 3 standard engines, with hitcount percentages and wash figures, but then its got 3 more. They are REALY small, have no hitcount or enginewash figures and due to their size and position, are actually concealed entirely within the hull so they can't be hit. What are these extra 3 engines for? You can see them if you just look through the tables.
Later!

Those are the anti-engines, so the Colossus can fight Sathani without running away like a pussy Hecate.
-
But they don't DO anything.
-
they add yet another layer of useless crap onto that vast monument that symbolized the physical incarnation of useless carp known as the colosus.
-
Possibly to stop the ship being disabled by wayward Sathani beams, etc.
-
The engines that you can shoot (the ones actually located, subsystem-wise, next to the engine exhausts) are not really engines, but dummies. They are named something like "Main Engine, etc, which means that the game will not actually treat them as engines. The "fake" engines are the real thing, located at the center of the engines but inside the hull, with the glowpoints and engine wash values attached. My guess as to their presence is to fake a large engine subsystem without throwing out a rediculously huge engine wash, or as aldo said, a stupidly huge target for disabling.

I can think of one thing the Colussus is good for... you can catch a the latest movie releases and concession stand merchandise at inflated prices. :D

Colossus's disablement is so HARD even with cyclops. The colossus was disabled in the mission it will destroyed so the Shivans DID can disable that.

Lets not forget that the Collosus also had more turrets on its hull. I found this in the ships tbl file. Notice that in the movie it says the Collosus has about 80 turrets but only has 60 something....
-
Those internal Subsystems are Most likely Split subsytems labeled incorrectly... Open the Orion in Modelview, and you'll see what I meen...
The Colossus Movie reffers to 84 turrets (45 Laser, 15 Flak, 12 Missile, and 12 Beam) but the game only has 63, because the model was refined after the cutscene was made... You can see on the wireframe that there are a lot of turrets that aren't in the final model...
-
What are the 'split' subsystems for, anyway? I never bothered to find out...

Lol, is that true? Cuz I had a mission where a Hecate is supposed to turn and attack a newly warped-in Demon or Ravana and every time the Hecate at first turns to engage and then suddenly turns around, right before it starts to get raped.
-
No, thats probably because they were too close to each other...
-
There was like 5,000+ of distance between them when it first jumped in and slowed to it's normal speed. It began to turn around and give the Shivans it's booty right before it got into beam range.
-
If two ships are set to attack eachother, they'll just keep trying to broadside eachother, and go in a big circle...

Hecate = Big Pussy Ship
