look at this picture for instance:
SOMETIMES when i right click on the above picture, and click 'save picture'... it automatically names it "untitled" and a .bmp file... and i can't just click the down arrow and click to save it as a JPG. funny thing is, the picture really is a JPG. only some pictures are like this, others when i right click and 'save picture' it brings it up to save in the format and with the same name as the original picture. i'm new to XP, so i assume it's some XP thing or IE 6 that i don't know about? how do i fix this... it happens now and then, sometimes i'll click it and it will pop up with the regular file name and extension, but other times it won't...
thanks

It probably fixes itself when you go and change your towel to the blue one. Its these kinds of problems...
- Try system restore.
- Try method 2 here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378
- Try if repair installation fixes the problem.
- Don't use IE to anything else but WindowsUpdate. (This is what I'd do.)
-
I simply changed to Firefox and haven't seen the problem since :D
-
It's a weird bug, I just try again a few minutes later and it seems to fix itself. :doubt:
-
Maybe this sounds weird.. but I think it's something with your internet cache.. (temporary internet files) try deleting them all, and checj your browser cache settings..
*edit* i was partly right... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810978

firefox does, indeed, kick arse. I wouldn't be surprised if the next version of IE introduced a 'revolutionary tabbing system' (badly implemented, of course).....:nervous:
-
Strangely enough I prefer seperate windows instead of tabs. :p
-
Yeah, just to let you know Stealth, I get this problem often too. I often use Firefox these days instead.
-
Never got that... wierd...
Wierder than that is the product in the picture :eek2:
Where can I get one?
-
Never got it, as far as I can remember, but I switched to Mozilla (full version, not firefox) a long, long time ago.
-
Have XP Pro, IE 6 and never had this problem.
-
It is a problem that has pissed me off no-end.
Never bothered finding a way around it. I just save it as a BMP and go change the extension.
-
I get that, but IE saves it as a .art file named with a .bmp extension, so i have to open it up in IE, and then go file>save as something.bmp, then open it in Irfanview to make it a jpg... Its annoying...

'Tis a rather annoying bug at times, especially when I want to download lots of pictures at once. :nervous:
