Admiral Koth's suicide run on the Colossus if im not wrong.
-
...training missions?
well, what? I never said I was a good shot, and shooting down the instructor is just so satisfying.
-
I'd say it's the HLP crew's next shipment of Bosch Beer.. those dinky little transport ships are no match for a wing of shivan bombers. :3
-
The death of the Galatea?
-
It's the Orff!
:nervous:
Hey, I started out on medium, okay? Give me a break.
-
unimportant what it was....just look what shiny niece explosion :D
Mission:doubt: propably one from FS or FS2:p :p
-
Is that Their Finest Hour, the explosion from the Collosus?
You gotta love Nico's shockwaves ;)

Nope, cant be that one. If its an in-game shot, then the backgrounds would be a lot more plentiful (every shot I tried to get of the colossus had SOME background in it). If you look at the explosion as well, the black object appears to be either the nose of an orion (the profile fits) with the rest blocked out, or the side wing of a hecate. Since we cant see a hecate's nose or tail on either side of the explosion (it is large enough to be visible) and the only mission where such an angle is possible on such a plain background is the one where Koth faced up against the Colossus.
But then, I may just be wrong.
-
I reckon that its a Faustus going up.. if I had to pick a memorable moment it'd be in FreeSpace where you have to take out the sciene cruiser and it goes up with a hell of a bang (I can't remember the name of the mission)...
-
There are two missions with a science cruiser that goes bang. The first one is in FS1, where you're meant to protect the Faustus that's doing research on the Tsunami space bomb. The second is in ST, where you're meant to destroy the Einstein, another Faustus that has seen too much and needs to be sanitized. ;)
And ummm... barely modified? :p
-
Why exactly a Faustus? It can also be an Orion. It may be an FS1 one because of the background.
-
but not those explosions... I'd put my money on "Feint! Parry! Reposte!"
-

If you look at the image, the angle is suggestive of the blunt nose of a Faustus... crucially, there's a black bit on the bottom right which looks like one of the solar panels. Methinks.
It's not FS1, because you don't get yellow shockwaves in FS1. Could be the port, tho.
-
That bit on the bottom could also be one of the main turrets on an Orion.
-
It can actually be any mission where there is at least one Orion or at least one Faustus.
-
SOC loop mission 1.
And aren't those Inf shockwaves?
-
What surprises me there is no nebula.
-
Yeah, thats whats giving us clues since there are few missions without backgrounds in some areas... Unless thats the part he botched...
-
Either I'm losing it or there is a nebula - but it's using a skybox, not your standard nebula files...

Inf shockwaves are blue
-
Yes, I agree with Thunder, theres a Greg-Martinesque skybox in the background ;)
-
Yes, you can see a hint of the old nebula in the shockwave...
All I modified was the background, and a small radial blur... :)
Well, only one has guessed it right so far. Not sure if I should tell you it right know.
-
Their Finest hour, good job Jetmech ;)

cough..:)
-
;)
-
Oooh, I see. Nicely done.
Care to chuck another our way? These can be pretty interesting (especially to see how entirely wrong I am..)
-
#2... pretty easy, I just threw it together rather quickly:D

-
I'm still slightly scared that there are people here who can identify missions by explosions and backgrounds :nervous:

fear me :)
Im pretty sure I know that one, but I cant remember the name...
-
The mystery of the Trinity, or it could be the one where you defend the Aquitane on its way out (unless that was a Vasudan mission?)... well yeah, one of those.
-
It's quite certainly the one with the Aquatine in the nebula, but I don't remember the name.
-
Mystery of Trinity...
I'll get another one soon, that one was just too easy.
-
#3
(http://img44.exs.cx/img44/4479/Render03.jpg)
-
Is that the one with the NTT Sunder, second loop mission?
-
Love the treason...
-
yes :)
Well I wish I could pull some more, but I'm out of Ideas. Maybe could post there own to keep this thread alive?
-
Whoa, i managed to get that last one. Easy though, only mission ever that has a Argos on its own through space.

The Colossus? :eek2:
I hate to see that vessel die.
-
that's the colossus with Nico's cool explosions :)
-
The Colossus was the biggest piece of space-sh*t ever made.
- It looked stupid. Like a raygun.
- It was a waste of materials, that, during the recession the GTVA went through, could have been used forcountless other projects. (Don't give me the whole 'By building the colossus, many companies stayed alive and provided jobs bullcrap)
- It was poorly concieved.

-
Didn't know that... Good job on the shockwave there Darkage :)
-
yes, my apologies. I did not know. Excellent work, there :)

Hijacking this thread is not an option in my list of intentions. Do you mind discussing this Colossus thingy with me on ICQ? :).
-
heh, and darkage just used a tutorial for the shockwave. :p who gets the credit? :p
And I want more! (still has no idea how anybody could guess Collosus at that picture)
-
Ok, I'll squeeze in some more later... :)
-
If you guys can get all these, that would be pretty cool. They're pretty easy though, so you've got to get all of them. ;)

the mission were:
the guy ramms the colosus
Bosch runs the blockade and goes into the nebula
"the great hunt"
that transport dockes with that ship
the Aquiteen nearly gets it's ass handed to it by a vesle barely classified as a corvette
3rd fleet HQ get's blown up
same mission, Mesana leaveing the area
the Bastion, nuff said
-
Number 4 is the mission where Bosch's ship blows.
...what? :p

*Corrects Bobbau's answers and poor spelling* ;)
1. Feint! Parry! Reposte! Koth's Repulse rams the GTVA Colossus
2. Endgame - Bosh jumps in, runs the GTVA blockade in Gamma Draconis and enters the nebula
3. Strait, No Chaser - Sathanas fires at Psamtik
4. As Lightning Fall - Rescue team boards the NTF carrier Grall to rescue snipes
5. Argonautica - Rescue team repairs the Aquataine
6. Dunkerque - 3rd Fleet Headquaters self-destructs
7. Dunkerque - the GTD Massana jums out
8. Clash of the Titans II - Bastion jumps out.
-
Are you sure about #4? Cause that looks like a big capital ship in the bottom portion. Probably a Hecate, now that I take a second and third look.
-
You're wrong on No.3 Bob, that I know for certain. I can see that the pilot is flying a Tauret, which would make is "Monster In The Mist", not "The Great Hunt". I'd also submit that Nos. 4 and 5 are both the same mission, when the Aquataine is disalbed near the Gamma Draconis jump node. You can see that the pilot is flying a Tauret in both of them, and since the Aqu only makes one appearance in the Vasudan segment of the campaign, then that's it. I'd wager that you're right on all the others though.
[Edit] Dam! I forgot to check the posts on the next page. Sorry guys. I still say that No.3 is "Monster In The Mist", since there are 2 friendly ships in the escort list, and if it was the one where the Psamtik gets waxed, there would only be that, and possibly the Sath, though it'd be in red.[/Edit]
Later!
-
You may need to utilize a special fighting technique to see the Sathanas from that angle in the mission when the Psamptik dies.
-
Cowardice? ;)
:thepimp:
On a side note, if someone can correctly name the missions all 45 of these are from (or get the ones that I can remember right :p) they get a free feature-implementation of their choice...within reasonable limits.
Edit: It'd help if I included the URL
