CANT WAITTTT!!!!!!!! I HOPE IT GETS ON THE NET LIKE 1 hour AFTER IT AIRS!!!!!!!!!
    ;7
-
Lol, this is gonna be "New Order" right? Sweet. :)
-
*Grumbles about ****ty network execs cutting excellent shows off mid season*
-
*Resubscribes to the Stargate binary newsgroups*
-
So we finally get to find out what happens to Starsky.....
-
Starsky and Hutch is an old televsion series dear... er Thorn.

-
O'Neill and Maybourne were called Starsky and Hutch by Kinsey in one episode. It's been used in a few others.
-
OMG! I can't believe I almost forgot about this
You Ashrak, are my hero. ( )
-
I can't help but wonder from all of the previews for the new season and for Atlantis if they changed the actress for Dr. Weir. Or is it the same person with a different haircut/haircolor?
-
W00t!
-
Cool, I gonna watch it somehow.
-
Only thing I'm not loking forward too is this being the last season for the main SG series. Something about the new team just doesn't sit well with me,...donno maybe it's seeing the team leader/O'neill type whince as he enters the stargate for what appears to be the first time.
"Ok team we've finally found the City of the Ancients,...source of temendous power,...and we've decided to send the rookies in first"
;)
-
X-files syndrome - i.e. retiring / removing / sidelining the most popular actors in the series. Starts off with noticable absentees in certain eps, then someone new gets added, then BANG! You get Robert Patrick.
-
Arg...I'm looking forward to Season 7 premier here on SPACE channel in September! BAH! :)
-
lol...
Anyone know why Murry's got hair?
-
Because it's painful to shave you head EVERY day for 7 years...
-
lol
-
Screw you guys, and your queer Sci-fi channels and "Sky Ones"
-
This is why the military made the internet KT...
er.. yeah...
-
Too much to catch up on. I'm still in the 4th season IIRC.
-
ive seen all but two episodes. and im kinda concerned that atlantis will screw up the stargate universe the way voyager screwed up the trek universe.
-
Yeah, Voyager did screw up Trek, such a waste.... such a waste....
-
Possible spoilers for newer fans, so beware.
I'm sorry to say that I don't really look forward to Stargate anymore. Out of all the sci-fi worldsettings out there, Stargate's is one of the most depressing: the human race at large is scattered across the galaxy, used primarily as nothing more than cattle for the Go'auld. Earth is presented as being one of the more advanced human worlds, yet they remain largely inferior to the Go'auld; those human sects that have technology more advanced than that of Earth are either extinct, on the way to -being- extinct, or possess some wishy-washy pacifistic philosophy that prevents them from supporting the military effort against the Go'auld.
The non-human races aren't much help either. The Ascended and the Nox are loathe to intervene in human affairs. The Tollan are essentially dead, and the Asgard are doomed to lose their long-standing war against the unstoppable Replicators. The Tok'ra are in a similar situation, gradually losing more members of their group, and the majority of the Jaffa are too steeply indoctrinated in Go'auld dogma to make a stand for themselves.
SG-1 is written in such a fashion as to never resolve these issues, but instead, to drag them out as long as possible. I've seen spoilers for the upcoming season, and in my opinion, it's just more of the same pseudo-political moral high-ground stuff that's been thrown at us for the last several seasons. For that reason, there can never be any closure, and SG-1 will either be canceled before a finale is penned, or the finale itself will be a weak episode with a "Scorched Earth" ending, something along the lines of all Earth's Stargates being destroyed, or the Sol system being sealed off from the rest of the galaxy.
As for Atlantis, the very concept makes me cringe.

I have that worry...but they seem to have some great ideas for Atlantis so we'll see what comes of it.

Old Weir = Jessica Steen
New Weir = Tori Higgensen
Totally Weird = Teal'c's Hair

Hrmm... the old one I think looked the part of the whole Mrs. diplomat thing a little better.
Yeah... chia Teal'c...
Atlantis will either be great, or it'll be crap. If done right, it could be very entertaining and would continue to play on mythology and such. (the Wraiths being vampires/demons, etc. as the Gou'uld were playing on the deities thing)
However, Atlantis could easily turn into Trek crap... Which some later episodes of StarGate I feel are sort of that way... Anubis was soo... contrived... at least Baal has some style... :p
-
another thing that wories me is the fact that all of the scifi channel's original series and movies have such poor acting and weak plots 90% are rips on blockbuster scifi movies. i also dont like the way the scifi chennel buys up the rights entire series plays them once or twice and then they are never to be seen again. i wich theyd get rid of some of those b movies and play all the series thay have exclusive rights to.
-
*misses tripping the rift*
Edit: they should get rid of those B-movies...and bring back the outer limits now that was interesting...
-
I still want to see an alien named Yahwey (or however it's spelled)
-
The strangest thing I notice is that Scifi seems to report their viewers continually rising for SG-1 - even when so many people around here disagree.
-
SG1 season 8 is gona rock .... thats the bloddy end of it .... and that pseudo political crap is what makes the series so great so if you dont like it STFU and ill give you torrnet links or something for 8x01 lateR :p
-
Teal'c has hair? :wtf:
-
I cant wait for it. I hope its gonna rock. But I have to admit, each season was better then the one before it. Can they do it again?!
-
uggg, is 'the adventures of captin Hercules' precedeing it, or what else will I have to wade through
-
Finishes at 7am GMT, plus 2 hours for encoding, upload and site updating = Both eps hit the net at around 0900GMT.
-
Thats 5AM here.... Should I stay up all night, or just wait till I wake up at 10? hmmm :p
-
well I get to watch it no... crap there doing a ****ing everything you've already seen and we know you'll stick around to wait for the show and watch our comercals becase you're pathetic... and where was I...
-
You should hook up an ultra-high resolution camera to your computer and jack your TV's audio-out into your computer, bind the audio and video together and stream it to me live via NetMeeting.
-
Y'know, I think we should actually try that.

What, you mean they're doing one of those "Lowdown" things like they did for Season 7?
-
ummm... I have a tuner card, my computer IS my TV, stereo and all that.
[yeah]
-
If you can get something like NetMeeting to take your TV card as your video/audio device, you could stream it to a few people.
And if those people went and downloaded HiDownload (http://www.hidownload.com) they could record the stream and mirror the episode onto various FTP's.
Or better yet: They could install GuildFTP and let people grab the ep from their hard-drive (assuming they have a broadband connection).
-
if I had more than 45 minutes I might be tempted to do that, in all honesty though the picture isn't all that clear, and it's not HD or anything.
-
It'd do for an 80mb encode.
Hmmm. There's a thing. I doubt many people have the technical skills to encode the damn thing once they had the raw stream.
-
I could do it. I just dont have the goddamn patience right now.
-
I don't so much want to do it for the ep, more to see if it can be done.
-
hmmm looks like fith will be comeing back to torchure carter.
-
and it begins again!
-
Hush Bobb, keep your spoilers to yourself. :p
Meanwhile, from tvguide.com:
Carter and Teal'c seek outside help to revive O'Neill while old foes make a surprise visit to SG-1 HQ in the two-hour eighth-season premiere, which offers changes aplenty.
At the end of last season, O'Neill was in a cryogenic coma after activating a weapon to destroy the evil Anubis. Also, Torri Higginson's Elizabeth Weir replaced Don S. Davis's Gen. Hammond as SG-1 chief. Here, the wary, poker-faced Weir mulls a proposal by the Goa'uld System Lords to join forces while invaders of a friendly Asgard ship clash with Teal'c (who has hair!) and abduct Carter.

Mwuahahaha!!!
PHEAR!!!!!
-
I see you're still viewing HLP...
-
Hehe. Keep watchin'.
-
I expected something like that. :p
*Ventures off to the ST thread*
-
I think I'm going to catch the late showing (starting in 20 min.).
-
That'd be the Lowdown, here...then the full 2-hour ep. Whee!! :D
-
Have I mentioned that I ****ing hate you, lately?
-
hey why do you still have the banner add up?
-
I took it off on the Laptop.
I've not removed it on the desktop.
Hasn't really bothered me.
-
ok, fith is creeping me the hell out
I thought it was over too, epecting that nice quiet slowdown
-
Dammit Bobb! :p
Lowdown impression so far: Teyla is HAWT.
-
Spoiler mode:
Steve Bacic is apparently not returning to Andromeda, which means Telemachus(arguably my 3rd favorite character after Trance and Rommy) is going to stay dead. This is by far the most depressing part of the ep. In brighter news, they've tied up many loose ends from eariler in the show.
-
eh... stargate...
-
One of you mofos better be......err......legally reproducing the episode for personal use.
-
someone is... didn't you see it?
"we've got a hull breach!"
:heh:
the uh "lowdown" thing is already up on suprnova
so give it another minute or two
"that's understandable"
"indeed... for some"
-
I just love the whole, "fifth, please stop tourchering me... /*fifth smiles creepily*/ I still only like you as a frend...GAHH THE PAIN!!!" dynamic

"You?"
"Please. Every joke, every pun...it's been done."
-
"I hope you like Guiness, sir. I find it a refreshing substitute for.... food..."
-
Guiness rules!
guinness was one of stargetes sponsors. they brobibly offered free beer for the beer scene just for the free advertising. or it was part of the contract from day one. its gopod to know o'neil likes my beer.
-
"Teal'c, you have hair..."
...
"Teal'c, you have hair..."
Then there's... mwuahaha EVIL CARTER!
mwuahahahaha! :drevil:
-
yeah, do you think that was intended as a forshadowing, only funny, I couldn't figure it out weather it was related to the ending or if it was just something I had forgoten.
I of cores refer to O'Neil's coments about what he remembered after the anchent "face sucker", and "something about twins"
-
theres a BT at suprnova btw
-
Maybe a dream? More likely his brain did a precog. He was morphing into an Ancient and all that goes with it, healing powers and what not. It's not too far a stretch to imagine a precognicant event.
-
Probably was watching reruns of Stargate on Thor's ship, and found "Point of View" right before he got dc'ed. :p
Edit: That makes me wonder, do the Asguard use Bittorrent? Or Kazaa?
-
HOLY ****!
I'm so impressed with that ep.
It was alot more structured and darker than pretty much every other ep.
It had politics, lots of character emotion, some kick-ass comedy (as there always is when O'Neill is around Thor), good development of Weir (who's very hot, BTW), Yu, awesome CGI, a more indepth look at how the Reps interact with each other, major developments in the behaviour of the Reps and one kickass new weapon.
It's definitely the best ep ever.
-
yeah the gun was kinda sweet
in general i purely loved it a GREAT start to the season!
what i really want to see how "i havent had a desk before - o'neill" will preform with this general stuff :D
-
The gun was cool, I just hope they don't continue the trend of just inventing a new weapon to fight a given bad guy.
Edit: Although it could be kind of funny to see SG1 carrying (or trying to carry) a Zat, SPAS, P90, TER, Supersoldier-killing gun, and a Replicator-killing gun.
And Teal'c would of course have to bring his staff weapon. :p
-
kinda reminds me of a gun out of (insert name of any fps game here)
-
Er, the supersoldier killing gun was modified to fit a P-90 IIRC.

The thing is that staff weapon, as unbelieveably cool as it is, is rapidly becoming useless in as much as their major enemies are completely unaffected by it.
Don't they carry Zats in place of .45 sidearms?
-
I think it depends on the person and mission.
You'd think they should though. Maybe there's some sort of range deal with zats? I imagine they'd be less reliable in terms of stunning people at long ranges.
-
i just realised that teal'c used a shotgun in the last episode, i didnt remember seeing him with his staff. i knew something, other than the hair, was out of place.
-

its the bullets
-
teal'c was useing a shotgun, becase the staff is ineffective against replicators
-

correct
-
The Telchak-gun isn't a gun. It's just a little energy-pulse thing that fits onto a TER or a P-90. And I'm guessing the energy-pulse would have at least a vaguely similar 'half-hit' effect on normal people, so they wouldn't need to carry a ZAT.
So all they'd need, to deal with just about any foe, would be a P-90 and one of those Ancient-guns. And I reckon the Asgard might be able to knock some smaller version of that up now that they know what it does.
-
an0n .... you didnt watch the ep did ya? the asgard have no friggin idea of how it actually WORKS ... they only got it cuz jack built it ... and thor replicated a bigger version of it .
asguard dont have acess to the ancients database :)
-
Yes, so all they'd have to do would be to replicate a smaller version.
And for the record, Thor didn't make a bigger version. He analysed the pulse thingy and altered his ships systems so it could fire the same energy-pulse.
