Headline sums it up, really.

Strangely enough, my Brother is a trading standards officer.
He's been busy lately trying to get the message across to HD manufacturers that there is an International Standard denomination for computer memory, and it's base is 1024, not 1000. And by not stating the real size of the Hard Drive, they are misrepresenting their goods, which is illegal.
Go my Brother :D

Hehe, poor dumb bastard.

this is quite an odd one, actually;

[color=66ff00]I've just had a great idea, put a sky dish on a van, paint 'bill payment association' or something similar on the side then park in the middle of a middle class area.
When people start asking you what you're doing there you can tell them that the dish detects guilty people, specifically those who have not paid a bill.
Think it'll work? :D

It might, especially in this country.

You've just given me a whole new career.

Is anyone honestly ignorant enough to think that pirated software can be detected with a radar dish? I don't see how those people even get pirated software to begin with, cause they obviously don't even know how to turn on a computer, much less pirate software.
Unless we're talking about TEMPEST or something like that, but thats only for military/intelligence purposes, and any way its illegal. And besides, it wouldn't be able to tell legitimate software from pirated software.
-
Yes Rictor, they are, any fool can use Kazaa, and most of the people I know who own computers are woefully ignorant of anything but it's most basic functions (like, how to Run a program, how to read Email, how to turn the computer off (though this requires extra training)).
I can honestly believe that people could accept a Pirate Detector van, after all, we've had TV License detector vans for years, it would appear to be a 'natural step' to the unaware :(
-
I like piracy. Nothing like browsing Suprnova with my eyepatch, parrot and a bottle of rum.
-
TV licence detectors?
-
[color=66ff00]BBC is payed for by licence, there are no adverts. TV licencing people claim to have detectors in vans that can detect if you are using a TV that's unlicenced, in truth it's more a case of identifying who's bought a TV (you have to give your name and address when you buy a new one) and if they're registered as a licence payer.
