EH!?[/i]
-
you saw that, too... i thought i was drunk/ drank something that went bad when i saw that...
-
It's not an expansion but a demo of FS1 which was bundled with some gaming magazines. I have one, I think it ends after you have captured that Lilith cruiser, was it Zenith?
-
Possibly a mis-nomer for Silent Threat? The Silent Threat expansion music track was titled Darkness Rising I believe.

Nope. Demo. Check older versions of VPView...
-
Darkness Rising was the OEM version of FS1. Just like FS2: Colossus was the OEM version of FS2. GS got it wrong. ;)
-
that's what got me into FS, it was bundeled with my joystick, of corse one of the reasons I picked that joystick was becase it was bundeled with FS:DR.

Sure, blame a guy who hasn't played FS for YEARS! :p

'zackly. That's whiy I bought FS2... believe it came bundled with a mates PC.
-
You know, i remember playing the later missions of FS, but i can only find a copy of the OEM of FS1....odd.
-
Indeed, it came bundled with a joystick I bought for X-wing (Gravis Blackhawk Digital or sommat). Goes all the way up to the Taranis... I thought that was the end of the game for years, until I bought FS2 and they were talking about Lucifer and the sol node and a bunch of stuff I'd never heard of...
-
I rather like my copy of Descent: Freespace. Full version on DVD :)
-
Me too. :) But it's OEM for a P3...
Hey... Could I trouble you for the exe? ;) I'd like to use the movies again... :p
-
You got it OEM too? You buy that computer from Gateway?
BTW, why do you need the exe?
-
Actually, It's an IBM Aptiva. I ask for the exe because I use it on a Duron system. The OEM version only runs on a p3.
I don't technically need it, but the exe I have is from a regular version, and cannot play the cutscenes, even with table files that point to the single FVF.
-
I actually am not sure whether it runs on anything else. Wait a moment while I install it and check.
EDIT: It works, but only if I put it into compatibility mode at Windows 98 (I'm running XP Home on an Athlon XP). Try that with yours. If it doesn't work, I'll give you the exe.

Dude, I remember when I used to want an Aptiva so badly. I didn't know IBM put FS:DR onto some of their PCs... cool. :)

I got it with my Dell computer back in '98. :)

Actually, it's not FS:DR It's the full version of FS1. Straight down to the killing of the Lucy and has all of the cutscenes. It's more like a game of the year edition, just P3 OEM. :)
And Grey Wolf: It's not an issue of compatability mode, because when I try to run it it tells me that it will only work on a Pentium 3 PC. :p
-
Double post... Whoopsie.
-
Ah. Just double-checking, as mine runs through a file called fsp3.exe, but it runs just fine when in compatibility mode. I'll PM you with a link later tonight.
EDIT: Just thought of something: What speed is your Duron? If it is less than 1GHz, my version may not run on yours. It's "Your computer is not a P3" error could mean it checks for SSE in the OEM version.
-
...Duron 600. No go, eh? No biggy.
