Hey guys. There's been a buttload of activity on HLP the last couple of weeks, which has been great. Part of that activity is the HLP 2.0 content submission system. From the stuff that's been submitted over the past few days, I'd like to give you guys some comments on how to use it better. :)
- If you want to just post news on the front page, scroll down to the bottom of the front page and find "submit content". Hit that, and when you're asked for the category, put it under Home - News. Anywhere else, it'll end up buried somewhere in the site. ;)
- Choose appropriate projects to post your news under. If you can't think of which one to put it under, just leave it as-is, and it will post with the HLP logo.
- Provide links. Lots. Please. ;)
- Make your news posts brief. The front page is only meant to provide summaries of the real news, and to point to its source. Anything underneath about 150 words should be fine.
- If you don't know how to use HTML to make links and such, either learn HTML or PM an admin (like me) and ask them to post the news for you. :)
- If you are having problems logging in, but still want to submit something, provide some way in the submission for us to identify you. Your name, your email, anything. When we receive complaints about login problems that have no names attached to them, we can't do anything about them because we don't know who's posting. Please identify yourself.
- Rate stuff. The rating system only works if people use it. ;)
- Use it lots. :D
That's pretty much all I can think of. Those points needed to be addressed, especially the one about identifying yourself in complaints. If anyone has anymore questions, ask here.

I love that one :D

Originally I left that alternative out, actually. :D But you guys ought to learn to use it yourselves! (Cleaning up news posts that have vB code in them instead of HTML? Not fun!) :p

Get on ICQ foo :p

PHP:
str_replace(Array(), Array(), subject)

you'd want to use a ereg_replace or preg_replace for that Kazan. ;)
-
they're all the same thing
[edit]
now that I think of it they are better suited for like () because they're regex

And you can rate finished campaigns too, here (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/hlp/category_show_idal.php?cat=67)

Setekh, your frontpage login for your site does not work properly. It logs me into forums NP, but it wont log me into HLP 2.0.

Same here. And if I try to register it tells me I already exist. So something is up with my password.

Sticky! Sticky!
-
IIRC its case sensative... And if you are part of a Hosted project, you were added automatically, but if not, you have to re-register... :nervous:
And Carl can't sticky it for himself? :p

My password here is all lowercase. I'm not typing it in wrong.
-
Username is case-sensative... It isn't for the forums, but it is there, but it doesn't seem that it is the source of the problem...

Username is not case-sensitive. :)
Thorn, I've reset your password and PMed the new one to you. See if that works.
-
Its not? We were told it was...
Ah HA! It IS case sensative, according to your own instructions! (Or Styxx's instructions):
