MFC42.DLL is the bain of my existance, windows keeps poppin up saying somthing is wrong w/it and wont allow my launcher or nething to run bc of it, how do i fix it?

IIRC, a friend of mine had this trouble about 8 months back.  He did a few searches on the web (can't remember which search engine) and found a copy somewhere.  He then used that and has had no problems with it since.

a copy of that file or what? b/c Moonsword sent me a copy of it and it said I couldnt move the file

You'll probably have to replace it, or do some special trick to replace it - it's used in a bunch of Windows programs.

Edit: Try putting the copy you got from MS in the same dir as the Launcher, that might override the one in the Windows folder - but I'm not well-versed in DLLs enough to say for sure.

tryed to move it in safemode ??
other option is plain command prompt and use copy
it to C:\windows\system32 assuming u got 95,98,98se,me
or C:\winnt\system32 for nt,w2k,xp
anyways it appears to be "Microsoft (R) Visual C++" dll
so i think u should be able to move it on safemode that is resetin comp and pressin F8 till u get menu "<tho i searched tro own system and found it in 11folders so big question is how many you have em and which 1 is the busted one

I have Windows ME I only have one of them. How do you put it in Safemode?

During reboot, press F8 when you see the system specs come up.  It should bring you to a dos menu with about 6 or 8 options, one of which is safe mode.

Ok so does anybody have a copy of this file for Win ME that they think would work cuz none of them seem to work? the safe mode thing did work i could move n delete n wut not, still no effect on my SCP though

Ok so I deleted the mfc42.dll and then it said "launcher.exe is missing mfc42.dll:6675"

I dont know what to do.

You need to put the new copy of the mfc42.dll into the folder you deleted the old one from.
