Right, well, as I was coming into the computer lab today, I noticed a new sign on the door - as of the nineteenth, we have to log in to the system every time we want to visit a non Curtin (Uni) based website - ie. pretty much everything. They've also written that "Access to some non study related websites may be disallowed." Now, depending on various things, probably primarily how much bandwidth I've used, they might include HLP, SG and the like in there sweep (alternately, they could just want to get rid of hotmail... I dunno). I'm mostly worried about other peoples downloads from gamespy (since they'd indiscriminately block //www.gamespy and dynamic4.gamespy I'd expect), though I hope any really massive stuff has been from fileplanet.
Anyway, coincidentally that's also the day the Uni's giving me free net in my room, which'll hopefully be on a slightly less restrictive system. So, while it's possible that there'll be no changes to my net access, it's possible I'll disappear completely. Which'd suck. Anyway, if I do, I'm not dead or defected to the WC Community, and should be back sooner or later, at worst, about a six month gap between now and when I move out of uni accomodation into a proper house somewhere.
(Oh, and the reason I'm posting this so early (5 days) is so I don't completely forget and just disappear without telling anyone).

It would be rather bad, but if worst comes to worst, can't you strike a deal with a SysOp somewhere?

That'd be bad news if you did vanish even for a while BW, but I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

Yes, and just to make things more amusing, it seems that Sectorgame itself has decided to go play in that nice big Internet in the sky for a while...
