If Goldblum's "Jurassic Park" character were there, he would have said, "Don't be an idiot," and the movie would have been over.

I actually thought that using a virus to disable the alien space craft was actually a brilliantly plausable piece of sci-fi. All those who complain that the aliens should have had a virus checker really need to learn that aliens are likely to think in ways differently from us.

Just because there are humans dumb enough to make viruses for no good reason other than spite doesn't mean that the aliens will suffer from the same stupidity.

Of course the idea that Jeff Goldblums character can sit down at his apple mac and write the virus that will disable an alien operating system single handed in a few hours is ludicrous :)

That and the fact that it was Binary code vs. obviously advanced alien scripting :doubt:

His own creation will turn against him! It is too evil for even him to control! :drevil:

Yeah, but your a nice lady too. You haven't created an evil demented invention that keeps our attention and sucks out our money and has near total control of the market, yet. That and you don't hurt us either :P :)

Well ID4 is somewhat curious in the ways the characters die...

A women who can survives a blast from one of the aliens' ship that destroys LA, gets her heli crashed, gets buried in junk, does not get ill (as in seasick) dispite being transported through a bumpy course... gets killed for entering a completly safe military hospital with the best medical help in the world!! Oh, and how did she survive the LA incident? By hiding in a closet :blah:

Then there is the fact that the pilots of the US Air Force are sooo good that they can enter an alien fighter and imediatly take control of it.

And the funniest part... the "guy that "saves" the world by throwing himself at the alien's ship" 's family should *not* be traumatised by the fact of having a bunch of military staff clapping and cheering instantly after their loved one dies...

:nervous:

But yeah, fun movie! :D

the whole fact that a cropduster guy could fly a fighter jet just like an uber dogfighter bugs me the most. He served in vietnam... sure. But as a soldier.

I don't even like ID4. these stupid ass things ruin a good movie.

Meh, I've got nothing against America, but that guy and his acting reminded me of everything I hate about the American Movie industry. It's like that scene from Spiderman, where the people start throwing stuff at GG saying 'You mess with one New Yorker, you mess with us all!'. Where were these pro-New-Yorkers when New Yorkers are being shot, raped or starving to death on the streets?.

Ah well, whinge over, Tiara, Sharon informs me that part of the job description of being female involves having to be more devious and evil than Bill Gates could ever hope to be ;)

What a lame list.   Obviously this was written by people who found true depth in such wonderful films as "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "Boys On The Side".

Which also means they shouldn't have been running PPC on their mothership right? That programmer guy had a mac right? Of course, I suppose it's possible he was coding for an alien platform but that's thouroughly ridiculous.

Was the whole second half of my post invisble to you or something? :D

I agree 100% with that half of the arguement. If they'd put an elite team of computer experts on the problem for a couple of weeks I'd have still thought it was a stretch.
