Once in every Millenium I open my Yahoo messanger because I find it boring and empty(people prefer ICQ). When I did so, roughly ten minutes ago a window came up asking whether I want to update my messanger. I clicked on 'yes', saying 'Why not?'. It started to download something. 'OK', I said. It will take a while.
I started browsing HLP(Historically the main Derek Smart thread). I started to write a quick response but suddenly my Internet screen became white and after a few seconds of waiting a 'Welcome to Yahoo! Messanger' message welcomed me. There were several links for guides and further downloads, but I would have prefered to continue my quick response. I pressed Backspace(= clicking on the back button) and the HLP thread came back but all I had written disappeared.

Yes, I have a strange feeling that something is lurking in the HLP code myself. I just reformatted my computer, and the first thing I did when I got online was head for HLP. The second thing I had to do was download the Sasser virus patch :(

Let me know if the new version causes any trouble on your system, I may have to reformat to fix mine.

[color=66ff00]Guys you may consider using Gaim or Trillian, Trillian especially as it can handle all of the essential yahoo messenger features. Plus you have one program with all of your buddies in one list which makes talking to people a lot less hassle and backing up your contacts is easy too.

EXACTLY :)
Trillian is a nice alternative. I've done away with ICQ and MSN and all of those things.

[color=66ff00]I'm on Linux now so Gaim is my client, it has a rather brilliant feature that Tril doesn't; tabbed chats, kinda like in Firefox except each tab is allocated to a user instead of a web page obviously.
Very tidy and convienient.
