Also, for those of you unaware, you may see some strange terms being used in some error reports, ie. CTD and BSoD.
A CTD is a Crash To Desktop. This is where no error is generated, the game just immediately returns you to the desktop.
A BSoD is the Dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death', anyone with Win9x will know this old chestnut well ;)
Just to clear up any confusion :)

WM is my hero.

Hrm... OK, how can I tell if something is a bug with the SCP, or a bug with someone's mission module?
In this case, after having the program work just fine for quite a while, I tried to enter a game on FS2Net... and promptly was bombarded by errors, after which the program crashed. The errors *appeared* to be in a scripting language, but I'm neither a programmer nor a modder and so can't tell for certain. I tried running with a different build, and got the same errors.
Is this the sort of thing I should drop into Mantis, or should I contact the mission creator (Cetanu) directly, or both?
-
This sounds like a program problem. Mission errors tend to be far less... explosive ;)
-
 Mantis it, along with the build.
(Make sure you've tried my 7/12 (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/latest/fs2_open_C07122004.zip) build first though)

Well, ALL of my missions ran pretty stable in vanilla FS2 - that was tested by a lot of people with a lot of different computers
so... any crashes to desktop are not my missions fault *oath*
-
i can vouch for cetanus mission credability
-
Any PXO player can, they're all fine stuff.
Are you going to make anything new? All those fresh, new SEXPS to play with?

I thought that was probably the case, but I wasn't certain. WM, I'll try that build (I tried both base 3.6, and Kazan's 09 July build (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,24960.0.html)), but I'll need a co-conspirator to reproduce the error, because I was, at the time, trying to join someone else's game. Could someone be available between, say, 2200 and 0000 tonight? (Closer to 2200 would probably be better).
The mission in question is CET_M03.FS2, "Breaking the Seal"
(edited because I can never remember from one board to the next how to add a link)
-
WMC's C_12072004 is the latest build
-
And I've now tried that build, and got the same problem. ANd it's in Mantis now :)

Added anon credentials to the post.

Can I make a suggestion? A list of the unresolved but better-known (and hence likely to be over-reported) bugs might be helpful to those trying to make accurate reports. Off the top of my head:
(1) Problems with getting into games on FS2Net;
(2) Problems switching to the desktop with Alt-Tab.
There are likely more that I don't know about. Just a thought.
-
In an ideal world, sorting mantis by priority would give us that.
-
No need to be sarcastic. Y'see...
In an ideal world, every noob who went to post a bug on Mantis would think to do exactly that.
But in an ideal world, everyone who found a bug would go immediately post it on Mantis, and we wouldn't need a post on these forums saying, essentially, "Please don't post your bugs here."
This isn't an ideal world, unfortunately, or I'd be teleporting to work right about now instead of having to commute. :)
-
I wasn't :)
We (as in the SCP) have to get better at sorting the priority. That way we can readily answer your questions ;)
Everyone submits bugs as "Critical" so, it's work to sort thru them :)
We're getting better at it though.
What we won't do, is make another page that lists the bugs. That is what mantis is for :)
Please note the liberal use of smilies :)
-
Oops... my bad :) I took it as, "In an ideal world, you would have noticed that you could sort by priority." I don't know if Mantis can do it, but one thing that might help would be to have sorted by priority be the default view... even if, as of yet, the priority sorting isn't perfect. :)
-
I'll use more smilies in the future :)

When play any mission in fso 3.6 it always freezes up for about half an hour then playa for 5 minutes normally and freezes up again, this happens no matter which mission i am using.
-
System specs?
Video Drivers?
Build and command line options?
-
Pent. 3 450Mhz
The Build of FSO is 3.6
NVIDIA RIVA TNT
-
Treatment 1 - make sure you're using the very latest drivers for your chipset.
Treatment 2 - Drop AGP setting back one step.
Those 2 treatments have helped me in the past.
Later!
-
err whats AGP :o
-
with that setup, you shouldn't even be using glowmaps, not to mention TNTs arent HT&L cards
-
EDIT: Got new Pc all works fine now :D
-
if anyone posts a bug, be sure to check back about once a day to see if the SCP team posted a fix/workaround. This is also helpful if we need to ask questions
-
I have a problem with FRED_open(from 3.5.5) and FRED_open_r (from FS2Open_3_6-Installer). When I select a subspace background and press error checker it shows nothing, but when I try load or save this mission( with subs. backgrnd) it shows this and crashing the FRED:
Can't open palatte file
File: E:\Languages\Visual studio projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Palman\PalMan.cpp
line:342
PLEASE HELP.
-
Why in god's name were you mixing 3.5.5 with 3.6?
-
You can't load 3.6 missions in 3.5.5 but the other way around should work fine.
The subspace palette problem is a know problem from the original version of FRED2 that should have been fixed by 3.5.5 though. You may wish to try this work around in the meantime. Copy a PCX file from elsewhere (any file will do so you might as will pick a small one) and rename it to gamepalette-subspace.pcx. Place this file in your effects folder.
Annorax : As for why still use 3.5.5, It is a lot more stable than 3.6.
-
Next thing that hopefully won't get me flamed/make me look dumb....
How the hell do I get my Mantis password emailed to me/reset?
-
Mantis has had problems with people registering using hotmail addresses. Otherwise it's just a case of going to the site and registering.
-
Is it normal with any mods for Fs2, the game close itself ??
I 've just install the Media VP 3.6.5 and use the 02.11.2004 fs2_open_r.exe from Goober, i can play the game just for few minuts and then suddenly the game close itselft.
I activated thoses options in the Features :
-spec -glow -pcx32 -jpgtga -d3dmipmap -ship_choice_3d -targetinfo -orbradar -pcx2dds -loadonlyused -fps -max_subdivide -env -alpha_env -decals
-
get rid of max_subdivide
-
@MetalDestroyer, -loadonlyused is likely your problem. I have fixed some of the code but it still will crash on quite a few missions.
-
I'd also suggest you use Goober's 11/06 build unstead of the 11/02 build. Finally, unless you have an Uber system, you may want to disable some of those features you've activated. Most people will tell you that -pcx32 does very little use, and mostly uses up memory space. What are your critical system specs?
-
Ok thanx, i will try.
My specs are :
AMD Athlon XP 2400+@2700+
768 Mo DDR Ram 333
ATI Hercules 9800 Pro
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Oh i forgot to mention a sound problem with Fs2 and the Nvidia's APU (SoundStorm) .
The sound will be off after playing some mission and I have to reboot my computer if i want to restore sound for any others games/Windows.
-
You're using on-board sound? Ya, you'll have difficulties with that. I'm using the on-board sound on my ASUS A7V600-X and the drivers haven't been updated since 2003. I was doing better in terms of sound when I still had my old Creative Labs SB-Live! Value. As soon as I can warrant the expenditure, I'm gonna go out and grab an Audigy2 Value, 'cause on-board sound is CRAP! When ever things in FSO get dicey (Inferno mission "Nemesis" is a noteable example) suddenly all of my game sounds are replaced with loud buzzing noises. I then have to pause and turn down the volume, but then I can't hear the missile launch sound or know when a nearby beam cannon is powering up and about to vapourize me.
Your system power seems decent. In most respect it out-classes my system. In addition to the -pcx32 and -loadonlyused tags, there are a few more tags in your list, which are somewhat redundant or not as useful. -ship_choice_3D just replaces the ship selection ani in the preflight screen with a rotating image of the actual pof file, like in the techroom. Its realy only useful for anyone making a MOD that doesn't want to have to make a new ani for it. -alpha_env will work better than just standard -env, but not all canon ships have alpha-environment shinemaps yet, which causes any ship without these to look somewhat strange. I'd advise keeping to just -env until Lightspeed completes his work on these. -decals, while a cool effect, are still a bit buggy and may have some memory leaks. You may get a performance boost if you disable this feature.
Later!
-
Thanx Trivial Psychic.
For the sound, i don't have those noise in Fs 2 but when i play a game like MGS 2 Substance, those noise disturbs me enough. In other case, the APU is quite good.
I think i have to buy a sound card like a Audigy too. Erf, i think for christmas i'll will buy a sound card :p

Well...I am new to this community and I tried to play FS2 on the net with FS open but everytime I try to make a server it always crashes. So i tried it in debug-mode and got this:

Not wanting to go through all of the posts to figure out what build you've got, try using a newer one. The problem you report should be fixed in the 3.6.5 beta and if it's not let me know since I may have missed something. It should have been fixed in 3.6 but I think part of my fix got missed and with a certain state it will still crash. Haven't figured out exactly what that certain state is though.
-
I use the version 3.6 but I will try the beta then. Wish me luck :D

I just encountered this baby.
Error: Can't open file

Line: 1543

This appears when loading the 1st act command briefing that appears after the herc II training missions (the one where Petrarch tells that the Shivans are coming again).

1GB 333 DDR
Club3D Radeon 9800 pro 128 (catalyst 4.12)
MSI MS-6712 motherboard
Windows XP Home (Finnish)
I'm running with this commandline: D:\FS2\fs2_open_T-20050103.exe -spec -glow -pcx32 -jpgtga. I'm using OpenGL video.
I have installed all 3.6.5 media vp files.
-
Looks like you've got an error in your table file. Which media vp files have you downloaded? Do you have any mods installed?
-
The newest media vps from indiegames, except mv loplanets.
No mods installed.

I see. So how do I fix it? That thread did clarify the reason for this, but didn't mention any fix.
-
You put the file cruiser03x.pof into your data\models folder. Assuming its not already in there. You can find the model in one of Lightspeeds Shinemap packs.
-
Which one and where can I get it? The pack in the shinemaps' development thread doesn't have the file.
EDIT: Well, the readme says it was included in build 5.0, but I can't find the file in build 18.0 (the current, and only one I have found).
EDIT2: Well, I did find it after all.
EDIT3: That got me past the aforementioned bug, but now the game crashes just about every time its trying to load a mission. A lion at the door took some 10 tries before it ran, and the one after that shares the problem (And I ran out of patience trying to load it  ). Bah.
-
Are you using the mv_music.vp? Some people have reported problems with it (as I'm just about to :D )
-
I was, tried without, but no change. This bug (or some remarkably similar one) already seems to have been reported to mantis, so I guess I can only wait for it to be fixed...
-
Well I guess I'm not going to be able to try out the SCP tonight. It runs the training missions fine but then crashes once I try to start the campaign. Same thing happens if I try to run FS2 on it's own. Going to have to try to reinstall again tomorrow. :(
-
Any error message pop up after the crash?
-
Ok, if I use the FS2 launcher I get this error:
Error: Error parsing 'weapons.tbl'
Error code = 2.
File:C:\projects\freespace2\code\Weapon\Weapons.cpp
Line: 1432
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
I can go into the 'debugger' and countinue on but the same type of errors keep popping up. I hit about 7 before getting to the first mission.
If I try running it from the SCP launcher I get to the ready room, but once I enter the campaign I get the 'FreeSpace has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' error and that's it.
I'm running the patched version of FS2. System specs are:
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3500+, 2210MHz
RAM: 1024MB
GFX: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT (latest drivers)
OS: Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2
I'm going to do a clean reinstall of just FS2 and see how it runs without the SCP. It could just be that FS2 just doesn't like my machine.
-
You definately can't run the retail version while the SCP media.vp files are installed. So the first part is no surprise.
The second part is a little more mystifying though. Unless it's the music.vp I've been having all kinds of problems with it. I need to take it apart and see if I can narrow down the bug.
-
So should I just try some of the other .vps minus the music?
-
it seems like the music vp is the only one causing troubles. just simply removing it from your fs2 directory should fix it until we figure out whats going on. If you don't have mv_music.vp then its some other problem.
There have been problems on mission load that we haven't been able to nail down just yet, so that may be another problem.
-
Is there anyway to remove the music.vp if I've used the zpack.vp or should I just reinstall them as seperate .vps?
-
Download this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/freespace/Downloads/musicTBL.rar) file and put it in freespace2\data\tables.
It's just the standard FS2 Music table. With that present FS2_Open will completely ignore the contents of mv_music.vp
Remember to remove it once the SCP fix this problem though :D
-
Apparently that music.vp was the guilty party. Thanks.
-
I have been having intermittent bugs when I have mv_textures.vp in my main directory. This is happening on "Into the Maelstrom" mission. If I rename mv_textures.vp, I am able to proceed into the mission.
I have the following media in my directory when I get the bug:
mv_adveffects.vp
mv_core.vp
mv_models.vp
mv_music.vp
mv_textures.vp
All were fresh downloads this weekend.
I'm running OpenGL 1280x1024x32
ATI X800 Pro w/ 4.12 Cats
Let me know what else you need to troubleshoot or how else I can help.

Now, this is really quite odd.
The "target subsystem under reticule" functionality is broken. I hit V (no, not Volition, the key) and nothing happens. This is a major annoyance for me, as I'd gotten used to using it for targeting turrets and engines.

I had noticed that, but recently I was playing TBP using WMCoolmon's 01/17 build, and easily "V" targetted an engine on a freighter. I haven't had the chance to test out his 01/20-rev2 build, but you may want to try the one I was using.

I have the following media in my directory when I get the bug:
mv_adveffects.vp
mv_core.vp
mv_models.vp
mv_music.vp
mv_textures.vp
All were fresh downloads this weekend.
I'm running OpenGL 1280x1024x32
ATI X800 Pro w/ 4.12 Cats
Let me know what else you need to troubleshoot or how else I can help.

For future reference you only really need to quote the error message to about the point I chopped it off at for us to troubleshoot.
I've seen this error mentioned a few times before but I've never seen as detailed a bug report as yours so I couldn't help the others.
I suspect your problem is that you're missing mv_effects. Download that and your problem will hopefully go away. If that does solve the problem be sure to tell me :)

How long does mantis usually take to send the E-Mail with the password?
-
Instantly, unless you have hotmail. Hotmail doesn't work for some reason.
-
if I have a problem with high limits model view do I report it to Mantis or is this just for the exe builds for FSOpen? (I never used Mantis before)...
-
I think Bobboau knows about this, I post it anyway .
In techroom all is fine, but ingame there is a bug regarding the glowpoints. when you look at an object and the glowpoint is in the center of the hid ( target reticle ) it is placed correctly.
But if you start to move up or down, or to the left or right the glowpoint seems to leave his position. It even dives into the hull of the vessels !
When you turn back it goes back into its correct position.
There are some more minor bugs.... almost call them features... where not the relative position of the player counts when calculating brightness of textures, but also the direction you are looking it. You can make textures shine brighter / become darker just by TURNING, without leaving your position.
Well, I can live with that, but the glowpoint displacement bug is sort of annoying

My problem is:
Error: Couldn't load animation/bitmap 'gas'
File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Starfield\StarField.cpp
Line: 455
Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
kernel32.dll 77e8141a()
------------------------------------------------------------------
Using build 3.6.5 (or so it claims) with DX.
Crash or error reporting occurred directly after the first mission where the portal and Shivans were seen (Lion at the Door). Also in a pretty odd way the debriefing screen looked a bit odd as none of the buttons or frames could be seen (whole screen (except the texts) was black).
After restarting game seems to work fine but start screen (with SCP logo) doesn't go away without CRTL+ALT+DEL combination after which pilot can be selected.
I don't know if these problems are connected but any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, I missed seeing the new post indicator on this thread.
I've heard of similar problems, but your bug sounds like something that might've been fixed in a newer build. taylor's got a newer build that's supposed to be extremely reliable. (I don't have the link) I've also got a build (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,31100.0.html) that's pretty reliable, except on certain missions.
-
Are you running the _d build by any chance? Sounds like you're running the debug build rather than the standard one.
The debug build is meant to be used to look for errors. It will give you all kinds of assertion failures that the standard build doesn't care as much about if you use it.
-
No, that's the newer parsing code.
What it means is that someone didn't set up the tables properly; either the fields are out of order, or they're missing some fields. In older versions, FS2 would skip tags, meaning that some values would end up being completely random values. Which can cause anything under the sun to happen.
-
I was worried it might be that. Looks like a few of the older campaigns are going to need to be fixed for this. Still it's not really FS2_Open's fault so much as that it's pointing out errors now that have always been there causing crashes for years.
-
Still, FS2_Open usually does successful error-correction and defaults to the proper values. We should really disable this in release builds.
-
Not really. For optional values, yes, but required tags are generally used because they're required (I added this error when I realized that a missing/out of order required_string was causing a crash). If something should be optional then it should be optional. Moving all the error parsing into debug builds just makes it more difficult and time-consuming to mod stuff, not to mention that I know most people don't use debug builds while modding due to the number of warnings I receive when using hi-poly ships.
I mean, is it really that criminal to require required fields? :doubt:
-
No, but what are we supposed to do for older mods that have problems?
EDIT: stupid timewarp...
-
If the mod doesn't have any active development going on, I don't mind fixing requested .tbl files that give errors.
-
Alright, as a compromise I added -noparseerrors. My offer to convert old .tbl files still stands, though, as long as I'm in a good mood. ;)

OpenGL, in a nebula mission, with -2d_poof? What build are you using?
I had fixed it at one point by disabling -2d_poof in OGL mode but I can't remember if that was for 3.6.5 or not. Recent builds should have it fixed properly so that -2d_poof works in OGL mode. If that shot is from a recent build then I need to figure out what's wrong and fix it.
-
I was using Coolmon's C20050306 but its happened with 3.6.5 and 3.6 as well.
-
@kietotheworld: What mission is that? And are you using D3D or OGL? If you aren't using -2d_poof then try using it and see if it makes a difference.

WMCoolmon's Tri-Build has pretty much all of my changes though. I've got some new bug fixes going in over the next couple of days but nothing major.

Its happened 4 times to me, twice in te first mission of Sync, once in a different mission of Snyc involving a Deimos, Fenris, Isis, Poseidon, cargo container and a few Hercs and Myrmidons.THE only other time its happened was in a mission for Desperation Chapter 2.
Its definately happened in D3D and it might have happened in OGL, I usually play with all features on and 3d Warp enabled.
-
Have you tried removing mv_adveffects?
-
My builds don't cause table errors...they just enforce them more strictly. If the code says that a field is required, it requires it, rather than just popping up a warning in debug builds. This is because required fields are assumed to exist, and if they don't, the parser may read in some other field. The most common bug resulting from this is a CTD, so you should try and get the tables fixed to make sure it's something with them.
I recently added a command line option to disable that in the trouble shooting section, I don't know if any builds besides my testing one has it.
Also, there was a bug in mantis that was resolved by fixing a function related to the nebula code...I don't know if/when taylor commited it though. Should be in the next CVS build.
-
You won't find that file in Sparky. the solution can be found in this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29938.0.html) thread.
-
Oi...I'm not at home right now, so i can't really work on figuring out how to fix my SCP problem, but here goes:
SCP will not run. All effects off, all effects on, it doesn't matter. I'll double click "FS2_open_r" and all that happens is the screen goes black, starts making the clicking noise you hear when it changes resolutions, and then i'm stuck staring at my FS2 folder. It usually clicks about 8 times, then i'm back to the folder. Debug mode doesn't work, as I never get any debug data...the game just crashes either way. Resolution doesn't seem to matter either. Any ideas?

What build are you using?
Are you using the mediaVP's?
What kind of video card do you have?
What version of Windows?
What processor?
How much RAM?
OGL or D3D?
-
Build: 4-23-2005, I think
MediaVP's: mv_textures,mv_effects,mv_core (all obtained from here:
http://scp.indiegames.us/download.php?list.2 )
Video card: 32MB Integrated AGP card built into the mobo...Intel something or other... (EDIT: Intel 82810 Graphics controller)
Windows: XP Home
Processor: Intel P3 666mhz
RAM: 192MB

Go here (http://web.engr.oregonstate.edu/~plankerj/fs2movies/) and grab the endpart movies (You may wish to grab the rest too). Stick them in your FS2 folder.
You've actually completed the game but if you don't have the cutscenes you won't see why :D

sorry for the double post
-
Phoenix : You're getting both of these errors cause you're running with old VP files.
The 3.6.6 VPs (http://scp.indiegames.us/download.php?list.2) should solve these problems AFAIK.
If you lack the bandwidth to download them at the moment there is a workaround in this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,29938.0.html) thread.
-
@Karajorma:
what? it´s the end? ok i´ll get this stuff sometime soon...
what other campaigns would you suggest to download? and where do i get them?
anyway thx for your help :drevil:
-
There's a fairly big choice available. Skippy's campaign list (http://fs2.kissifrot.com/) is the place to start.
I'm not going to reccomend a campaign here cause that's a whole different topic (do a search or go to the campaigns forum and ask there, Or go look at my FAQ since I recommend a few there.)
-
Not yet. :p
-
rename aseffects.vp's extension. That will turn off the animated shivan glowmaps. Might fix your problem
-
It sounds like some sort of SEXP problem. Can you give an example of a mission where the problem consistently happens at a certain time, and what is happening at the time?

It reminds me of the problem I used to have. It started right after I upgraded my system. At first, I thought it was due to my on-board sound card, but it persisted even after I got an Audigy 2. I managed to make it go away for a bit by turning off mipmaping, but it returned. I switched back to non-animated glowmaps for most ships and the problem seems to occur much less frequently, though I'm now getting some crackling associated with some effect sounds like engine, afterburner, and particularily the aspect locking loop. I'm hoping it has something to do with some kind of overloading of the wav translation system (that reads the file and interprets it to audio). I'm also hoping that ogg sounds are not prone to this. ATM, the only mod that has ogg effect sounds is TBP 3.2 beta and ATM, no build exists that both supports ogg for non-music sounds and won't crash under TBP 3.2. If ogg isn't prone to this problem, I'm hoping that all FS2 sounds would be transferred to ogg format.
Until that, returning to non-animated glowmaps for shivan craft is likely your best option, by reducing system load.

I recently got a copy of FS2 and played it all the way to the last mission (part A) and ran into a bug (couldn't finish the game...). So I downloaded FS Open and all the mvs. Looks great! However, it seems to randomly crash to the desktop during the loading sequences between missions (no error message). Here are my specs:
Athlon 64 3000 @ 2.3 GHz
1 GB PC 4000 RAM
Chaintech VNF3-250 MOBO
ATI X800 Pro
Windows XP Pro
FS Open 3.6.5
All the mvs available on the download page.
-
Try removing mv_music.vp That shouldn't be causing random crashes though.
-
As in removing the file completely, or replacing it with the old one (assuming there was one, I forgot to check and back it up)?
-
Completely although personally I'd just rename it to mv_music.vpDiabled as that would turn it off and allow you to turn it back on fairly easily :)
-
Ok, turned that off and it still crashes during loading sequences.
Edit:
I also tried to switch video modes to OpenGL and got this when starting the game:
Error: Current GL Version of 1.0 is less than required version of 1.2

Catalyst 5.3... is that the latest one? I think it may have some issues.
Welcome to HLP, Plague. :)
:welcome:
-
No, I think the latest one is 5.6 (which I just downloaded). Any known issues with it?
-
Catalyst drivers are updated every month, and the version number reflects that. It's [Year].[Month] format, so you can always tell precisely how old drivers actually are.

That one is easier to solve. It's due to a bug in 3.6.5 I believe. Updating to something fairly recent from the recent builds forum should make it go away.
-
Ahh... ok, I didn't see the recent builds. Sweet! Everything works great now.
-
I have been playing different campaigns and have not had any problems then this one started.
i am running fs2_open_3_6_5. with mv_zpack. i did down load all the vp files on their own but this did not solve the problem. They are the most upto date ones on the website (FSC project).
My backgrounds look terrible and flicker. when i move into certain positions they turn into giant white suns. the problem is there are loads of them. the rest of the time it looks like a very bad dust cloud. i just started derelict and its on every mission. Before it was on journey to epsilon pegasi.
i have some screenshots but don't know where to post them.
if anyone could help i would be very thankful as i love space games.
-
Are you running in D3D or OpenGL mode (look at the video tab of the launcher). Try the other one.
-
You also need to make sure you've got lightspeed's backgrounds. I'm not sure if all of those are in the Z-pack or not.
-
Downloading the 3.6.6 VP files might help too (they do work with 3.6.5 strangely enough AFAIK :) )
-
Except for mv_music, that is...
-
Oddly enough I was about to report an error with that one myself. Mv_music doesn't work for me with any build after Bobboau's 3-16-05 build on my main PC (There may be builds that work between then and T-20050526 which is the oldest exe I can find that does crash cause of this).
I get this.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's definately caused by mv_music and definately caused when .ogg tracks are present in the mission. It doesn't affect my second PC however.
I only just noticed this cause it turns out that that I disabled it when I first got the bug and then completely forgot about it until yesterday
-
:blah:
-
To be honest I suspect I've installed something that is causing trouble. I do remember .ogg working at one point.
-
Thanks for the responses
I changed to openGL but that didnt load at all. I am currently downloading the textures VP and will try that. Does lightspeeds nebulas come from a different download. On the SCP site he has his own section are they in there.

Turns out that the problem was that I had installed the Direct Show .ogg filter some time in the distant past. Once I went to \system32\ and ran the uninstall program the problem went away. :)
