Title: Halo 2 for PC?
Post by: Triple Ace on July 18, 2004, 10:14:44 pm
I bought Halo about a week ago and loved it. But I here rumors it will be on XBOX only. I really don't want to buy an XBOX for just one game. Anyone know if there will be a PC version of Halo 2?

[color=66ff00]They didn't do a particularly good job of porting Halo anyway. It wasace on the Xbox but from what I've read the performance on PC is rather lacking.

Pity, I would have bought it.

Really? I thought they did a great job with it.  It runs great on my system.

I'm hooked on the damn game. If I don't see a PC version for the second game, I'm gonna lose my mind.

If you've got the right hardware Halo PC runs extremely well and looks better than the XBox version - but if you're part of 90% of gamers who don't then you might be lucky to run it well enough so it looks a mite better than Half Life. Gearbox made a mess of it.

I guess I'm part of the 10% of people who have good hardware then.

My guess is there will be a PC version but not for a number of months so as to let X-Boxers have their fun wth it first, after that they'll grab more money with a PC-version.

There's already an xbox emulator... It doesn't support much yet, but give it time... (Cxbx)...

HPC isn't as bad as people claim... I'm freaking tired of people saying that its a bad game, because f its requirements. If yo don't know how to make a game run on a system it supposedly won't run on, then you shouldn't voice an opinion of it... (<<< not directed to anyone here, just people who post reviews after looking at the req's)... Hell, it runs fine for me... P3 450, 320Mb SDRam, e-GF2mx, and it runs flawlessly* at 30fps...

*minus the restrictions of what an e-GF2mx can't support...

People claim a game needs too much 'stuff' to run, and I've tried 3 of these such games (plus our own SCP) and I have no problem with any of them performing...

Halo ****ing refuses to run any decent graphics mode because my graphics card isn't in their tiny little Microsoft list of "hardware we like". For ****'s sake, my comp's the second fastest I've seen with 3D, it's just MS's going and deciding for you what you computer can and can't do again. Had similar problems with Starlancer.

Without the graphics, it was a pretty mediocre game. Wasn't quite as good as Half-Life, but wasn't much worse, either.

what's your card support? it at minimum does have to support HTL natively... even if it yells at you about your card, there's only two orrors it'll give you (AFAIK) that you can't pass...

It will if they include co-op this time - without that they may as well have no multi at all

Indeed, had a long arguement over some tard' in CTF the other night about this. Basically you're sentiments though. I have a barely mid-level system and I run fine over the net, so long as I have most graphics special doodads and such turned down to low.

Halo runs fine on a 9800 pro, its the shaders that kill performance for a lot of people. Also, I still don't think there will be a Halo 2 PC version.
