Title: Computer help!
Post by: Shekaenah on July 19, 2004, 08:28:24 pm
Hey. I was referred here by Solatar and I understand people here are very good with computers. :)

So here goes: I'm running Windows 98SE and I'm having trouble with a trojan called Downloader.Delf.2.BC, and it's in an exe called "win.exe" which resides in my C:\WINDOWS\ folder. There's also "win[1].exe" in my Temporary Internet Files folder. This only appears when I launch Internet Explorer, and AVG Virus alerts me of it. I've tried numerous things to get rid of it and nothing works. Just deleting it and then restarting only brings it back. Any help at will will be greatly appreciated. :)

Do you have any Adaware or spyware programs?

Well, try unchecking all of the startup boxes in MSCONFIG. Go start-run and type msconfig. Choose selective startup. Uncheck. Remove.

I have used Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware. Nothing works, not even the msconfig which I've also tried.

[color=66ff00]From what I've read it looks like you only really have one choice at this point: back up and format.

There doesn't seem to be a tool available to remove that bugger short of an entire AV package like Norton or McAfee.

So far that's looking to be the best solution right now. I uh...just don't have any of my Windows CD's...
