This campaign rulez! Bt it seems that the R2 compatible version does not work properly, that's why i play it on R1

Hmmm talking of problems with Janus :wtf:
For some reason i can't get past the mission "You Can't Hide From Death"
Every time the Cruiser appears and destroys everthing other than me my wingmates,Janus and the Lexinton the janus gets ready to jump out but then just sits there doing nothing other than shooting at the enemy cruiser.
I've tried various ways of trying to get it to jump..destroying every roid in sight,destroying the Boneheads ship and a few other things but always ends the same with Janus just sitting there doing nothing:confused: :confused:
Is this a bug or am i missing somthing:hopping:

i had the same problems with the EAS Janus. there are to missions whrere the poor ship does notknow how to jump.
in the mission with the lexington fleet group which is going to be destroyed by the black star, there are to many meteors (in R1 there are just a few of them),and Janus can't get through...
But everything does work without some problems in R1.
I enjoyed this long campaign two times now, it's still my favourite one.
I liked the Idea of this Shadow-Nova-X destroying some minbari cruisers.

I never had any problems with the campaign.
I've just realised that this week is actually a bad time to ask as Miburo's on holiday at the moment so he probably won't be logging on to HLP as often.
Since I'm in a good mood I'll take a look at the mission myself :)
kahkarot : I'll look at You Can't Hide From Death now.
N'Grath : I'll need the mission name or filename.
EDIT : Okay. Took a look at both the R1 and R2 versions of You Can't Hide From Death.
The R1 version looks perfectly fine. The R2 version appears to be messed up something chronic though. As far as I could see (and admittedly I only had a quick look through the mission) I don't think there is a way for the Janus to jump out. The SEXP that would make the Janus jump out is in an event chained to one that ony happens after the Janus has left.
I'll have a chat with Miburo about this after he gets back :). In the meantime try renaming mission MW_5.fs2 (You'll find it in data\missions) to MW_5a.fs2. That way the version in the vp will be used instead. That one may work better (although I haven't tested it).

Cheers M8 i'll give that a try i have no idea how the R1 vers works as i'm new to this Mod game for FS2 although i've had the game since it 1st came i out.
I never knew about the diff mods and Camps ya could get but i'll say this that what i've tried so far they are awesome.
:D
TBP and The Janus Camps are great i've instaled FS2_O and found the diff very good.
Good work all who work on these Projects and hope to see alot more in the Future:yes:
Just out of interest is there any where i can get R1 and the patch? and is there any other Camps other than Janus and ITB?

There is one called In the Beginning that had an early release. I don't know where you'd find the files though.

OO btw tried the renaming method worked up to the point where the cruiser was suppose to appear..however it never appeared:hopping:
So i'm gonna try get ahold of TBP R1 so i can play the Camp.
**UPDATE**
I've managed to get a copy of R1 and the diff is quite alot,i managed to get past the 5th mission so all's good there.
However i did notice the biggest diff between R1 & R2 were them blooming Roids talk about over kill on R2 tripple the amount and the size of them ooffff as they say "is there anyone out there":lol:
but so far so good keep up the good work:yes: :yes: :nod:

1. What does it change?
2. Where can I get it?
3. Is it hard to install?

FS2_Open makes everything Freespace about 1000% better. It's well worth getting and is very simple to install (getting it set up once you've installed it may prove another matter entirely).
Go to the SCP forum and look at the FS2_Open 3.6 thread. Then go to the latest builds sub-forum and grab a newer build.
You probably won't need the media.vp files to play the B5 mod but if you play FS2 they are well worth getting.

Hmmm yes fifth mission could have gotten bit upset dating it on. Anyway you need to form next of Janus and then jump when given a go.
I won't be fixing this in long time, due fact that I have no FS2 in computer, if Kaj would be so kind that check and fix it (maybe take old versio on and put R2 BG maps on it (mostly what R2 patch is all about) :rolleyes:

I didn't want to step on any toes by presuming to fix your campaign. Since you have no objections I'll be happy to take a look at it. Fortunately mission 5 seems fairly simple rather than being one of the labyrinthine missions I like to make :D
However I don't have time to beta test it more than once or twice so if N'Grath and kahkarot (Or anyone else for that matter) wants to test stuff that would be a big help. (Beta testing is pretty easy. All I need is for you to play the mission and try the various outcomes for the mission e.g win it once and lose it once etc.)

Bah. The mission kept crashing for me in FS2_Open (It says no briefing icon found in FRED2_open which is probably the problem)
In the end I had to open the mission in FRED2 and FS2 Retail. I haven't used either for over 3-4 months.
Anyway after all that bother I finally figured out what caused the problem with the non appearance of the cruiser. Did you order all ships (or more specifically Eagle 7) to do something? Cause if you did Eagle 7 never completes it's waypoints and the cruiser doesn't come in. :D
Anyway that's now fixed in this version (You can't order him around any more)

Ok mission 5 is working fine now,Janus now jumps when it's suppose to.
However mission 6 "Vessel Of Dreams" is realy messed up,it's impossible to protect the Janus from the Roids,Far too many of them even useing all the fighter wings to protect the janus ya can't stop it from being destroyed.
Janus loses most of it's hull even before the 1st shuttle is launched.

I can take a look at it :) I think the number of asteroids was increased between R1 and R2 anyway.

In fact that it should be fairly easy to keep Janus over 40% hull, even in R2 :wtf:
Last time I played them (extremely quick test to R2 compatiable pack), I managed to play them thorough, then again I made those :p

It was about Psi Corps elite division Black Omega squadron during teep war. Neverless its dead project now days.

Pity that. I know that you anc CF did a lot of work on it. The missions I beta-tested weren't bad either.

I'm in the mission where you jump to Tau Ceti station (the power of EA) and find a disabled ship. Alpha 2 says to call a support ship, but I can't call one in. :confused:

in that case there is a problem with the support ship - the names of the supports ships changed from R1/2 to R3

Open the mission in FRED (if you don't know what number it has, check in the mission simulator (campaign missions mode) which missions you already have completed) and a message will pop-up saying just that one ship class does not exist and that Support Ship "whatever" has invalid orders...
in order to fix this you need to turn the support ship (it is one of the ships in the mission) into an "Support Ship EA" and give it the internal orders to dock with the dead fury...
if you've done that the bug is solved and everything is gonna work as it should

The game engine is telling you that your campaign file has a problem. Spefically you are missing a #Mission Info section.
Your choices are:
1) Rebuild the campaign file from scratch using the campaign editor.
2) Open the campaign file in notepad and fix the problem there. You can always compare the broken campaign file to a healthy working one. The problem might be obvious to spot. Don't be afraid of editting the campaign file in notepad. It's not as if you will break it. It's broken anyway :D.

Where can I get a copy of the 'Tales of the EAS Janus' campaign?. The campaign editor won't even show the campaign in the 'open file' window.

Ok I'm confused. I thought that was what you were trying to load. Which would imply you have it already. So since I am confused I will let someone else answer your question.

Actually it's simpler than that. He's trying to load the wrong file. .cs2 is the campaign save file. You need to load the actual mission file (which in turn you'll have to extract from the VP using VPView - Check my FAQ's tools page). Once you have the mission file (.fs2) you can load it into FRED and fix it.

I've extracted it to my desktop (for easier finding) and edited it ( Support Tau from fighter to 'Hyperion', Dock Eagle 9). Is this right? I have saved changes. What next?
