I've been playing this game for 3 hours straight per day. It's freaking forever!!! I'm up to the mission after the "find snipes" level, how much longer?
Just wonderin
-
sounds like your maybe 3/4 or 4/5 done. Enjoy the ending :)
-
yeah, that's close to the end
-
Try online multiplayer after that, this can kill you much more than just 3 hours per day. And about how long this game can be... well i'm playing it 3 years and it still didn't finish! :D
-
musta done something wrong on previous respawns

Yeah I figured I was around there by now.
-
Ooooh, you're just about to hit the best mission of all. :) (right after the "Find Snipes" mission)
-
Yeah. Lions Den is great. You'll find out why in a bit. :)
-
/me laughs
-
*waits for BlackFish to come back with wet pants* :thepimp:
-
HEHEHEHHEHEH "DIVE DIVE DIVE HIT YOUR BURNERS PILOT!!!!!!"
that was the single best moment in FS2 history when u jump out of ur pc chair and litirally wet your pants from the whole act that just took place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry for the spoiler lol...
-
I didn't wet my pants, I just dove and hit the burners. Didn't have a clue of what happened until the next time I went through. The damn thing ran me over GOOD then... Splat n stuff.
-
You should be happy that the campaign takes forever. If it were up to me, the FS2 campaign would have unlimited mission.
-
It took me awhile to comprehend, at first I thought snipes was going to kill me...
"Die Die Die!!! hit you burners pilot"
Sat there in confusion
*Bang*
-
First time I did I slumped in my chair waiting for the mission to load so I could turn everything on and get everything set up just right, and while I was slumped, all of a sudden the mission starts and snipes is yelling at me, and I see this big-ass Sathanis running right at me, so, instinctively, I hit the burners and went down. ;7
Then I had to wait 15 minutes to change my shorts.
-
-
Damn, definately one of the most memorable gaming moments
The first time I played the mission I didn't dive. For some unexplained reason, my brains short-circuited and translated word "dive" incorrectly. I turned up and hit my burners. Sathanas got a nice splash to it's windshield :blah:

Kinda ironic there that the Mara is made to look like a moth or something eh? SPLAT!
-
You know, I should really replay that mission cause it seems I really missed out on something... When I played it I heard Snipes yell out "Hit your burners pilot!" But somehow I got stuck inside the ship and it was passing right through me, it left and I really had no idea what had happened.
-
Ive had a few moments where it barely knicked me and I just spun wildly out of control. Not fun.
-
I usually go up instead of down.
-
who else hates "As lightening Falls" ?
I've never played that just for fun, unlike nearly all the others.
-
Which one is that?
-
The mission where you find the Grall, "Find Snipes". Yeah, that mission is pretty goddamn annoying, especially with all that EMP lightning.
-
be nice if you could tag or just eliminate buoys which you've passed. Nothing worse than heading for the latest one only to find you gotten turned round and are back at the start.
-
I love that mission... until you play it on Multiplayer and die
-
God, I also hate that mission. It is EVIL!
-
Yep, annoying but great mission. I don't like it, but I still think it's a well-done mission [as V's usually are].
-
I f*ckin hate as lightning falls, you can't even target the friggin Buoys
-
Actually, going sideways (especially left) in "Into the Lion's Den" is much easier... :blah:

Yeah. I always went to the side too :)
-
I usually go inverted, then dive. Jus' you know, add a bit of class.

I hated that first time I played it, but I actually think it works pretty damn well now - because nebulas are a bit like flying on instruments, and that takes away the instruments, so you really have to work to complete it.
-
Once you recognize how the buoys are aligned it isn't that bad. There are around 4 or 5, and then a bend, and the rest are lined up right to the Grall.
-
I've just gotten to the part where you get shifted over to the Vasudans. I have no idea what you're talking about, but now I'll feel more inclined to dive when told to do so. :P
I've been a Freespace fan for years, but I've never been able to get the full version of Freespace2 until now, thanks to the HotU version and the missing files from the FTP server. I look forward to the rest of the campaign. :)
-
Damn i remember the dive part, i didnt know it was subspaciing until i turned around and saw it's portal close. I thaught the reason he said dive was because of the damn flak guns.
-
Forinec - you're just getting to what are (IMO) the good missions plot-wise. Enjoy the Sathanas.
-
The santhanas looks some sort of ugly bug. :p

It's an ugly,evil bug...never forget that :drevil:

The first time I played Lion's Den I believe I was slumped in my chair. Then I heard Snipe's voice and my immediate reaction was to dive just like he had ordered me to. I made it through the first time I played that mission. Was quite proud of myself.
-
lol
First time I played "Into the Lion's Den", I had the lights turned off, the stereo up just a little higher than normal and had my headphones turned up just enough so that I could hear audio out of them (poor man's surround sound baby!) I had just taken a sip of my glass of iced tea while waiting for the mission to load when all of a sudden I heard Snipes yelling. I dropped the glass onto the carpet (luckily it didn't shatter), grabbed my joystick and slammed on the afterburner.....and then I got rammed by the Sathanas RIGHT smack dab in the ass end of my fighter. :D (I knew that because it spun me around and suddenly I was doing well over 100m/s) I'd hate to see that fighter if FS2 had geomod capability. ;)
-
heh, if that mission is SO annoying, try playing it on 'insane'. i'll see you when you're 92.
EDIT: This message is in reference to 'As Lightning Fall'. Didn't see the second page!:o
-
If I saw something that looked like the Sathanas crawling up my shoulder, I would scream like a girl.
-
were all with u there Ford Prefect
-
The 'dive dive' part... ahh yes. My first reaction 'SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP!' *dive, just barely make it*
Good times...
-
Hey xti, welcome to HLP. :)
:welcome:

Oh god i remember that mission. I broke my desk!
I was relaxing on my pc chair waiting for the mission to load, my joystick was ready on the desk and id pulled out the sliding shelf with my keyboard on. I was still relaxing when it started, i heard Snipes screaming at me to dive with my pc speakers on extremely loud and i jumped, jumped so much m knees went crashing into the keyboard shelf and the keyboard fell to the floor, lol. I was kneeling on the floor trying to find the burners key whilst trying to dodge the Sathanas with my joystick. Lol, needless to say i was splatted on the Sathanas. In the end it turned out id broke my keyboard shelf. From then on i didnt have the sound loud, lol.
-
I remember when Snipes shouted at me and I want WTF? So I turned around and saw a Sathanas. :D In my panic I hit the burners while facing the Sathanas but amazingly I didn't get hit my it.
-
Thanks Setekh

I did something similar (although no actual breakage. Just sent the keyboard half a foot in the air). The 4th time I played the mission.
Next time I'll pay more attention :)

 Very passionate. Gets my thumbs up. ;)
-
How did you explain that one?
I just told my dad what had happened and he started laughing at me, lol. I didn't hear the end of it for a couple of months.
-
You should have made him play the mission instead of explaining it.
-
That was, by far, the best moment in gmaing ive ever had. Not my first headcrab, not the destruction of halo, but getting yelled at by snipes with full volume as I was half asleep playing late night. I got in trouble for that one. Of course as my mom is yelling at me to turn it down I'm manuevering around trying to get a shot at the comm nodes telling her sure sure in a second.
Good times.
-
Gotta agree. Volition did an awesome job building up the mood around those missions... very convincing. :)
-
There is lot missions i like :)
-
I had just reached The Sixth Wonder for the first time, and I got really bored. So I flew far away from the station. Then I got the message that some massive warship was jumping in. Turned around and *splat*. The Colossus got a hood ornament.
EDIT: This happened a long time back...
-
As soon as you dive to avoid the Sathanas, and it jumps out, if you stay back and disable the two Rackshasas and then destroy them, the shivans send in a non stop flow of fighters to kill you. I killed 46 fighters on that mission once. Had my wing take out the comm devices, while i stayed close to the node and made shivan soup out of them. By the time i jumped out in mission end, i had about 50 kills. That kill score got me my "triple ace" status, a medal, and a promotion. ;7
But to do it, you have to work fast because the 2 cruisers are jumping out. Hit the engines first, to stop them. If you try to destroy one completelly, the other one jumps out.
The first time i played that mission, i wasn´t paying much attention when it started. I heard the "dive dive" warning, but when i looked i already had the Sathanas bumping me like a billiard ball. I had to restart to see what had happened.
:ick:
Best mission in the entire FS2 campaign. Wish they´d made a few more like that one.
