Title: blackout hud
Post by: ShadowWolf_IH on July 22, 2004, 08:11:44 am
Ok, i am having a bit of a problem here.  some of my hud pieces are black.  The arrows which show where the incoming missiles are, the bracket around the targetted ship.  The arrows which separate to show you how far you have to turn around to be facing your target.  They are there but black.  Has anyone else complained about this yet?  And what is the cure?  I am using the original 3.6 build.

Never heard of that. Just try reinstalling FS2, reinstalling fixes most things.

Two of TBP staff are having problems with black comm animsin a single mission. Might be related. Hmh... that brings to mind that I should probably soon post some additional details to latest question regarding the problem...

This happens when you run out of texture memory.  I have experienced it quite a few times with these recent builds when the texture memory I have left is next to nothing.  I lose COMM ani's, ship selection images, and some parts of the HUD.  Let me guess.  The game CTDs after this happens, right?  I believe the low texture memory would be the problem, and since you have onboard video, there is practically no dedicated memory for your vid card, so that would seem to be the problem.

no.  it doesn't CTD.  Runs just fine and peachy.  I haven't lost anything other than those items listed....ever.  the icons are a there, because when my target runs  in front of a light, i can see the brackets....they are just black.  Same with the missile (incoming) arrows.  so i would assume it to be the same with my brackets for a ship off screen.  However the distance of the ship off screen is still in red.  so i don't know what the problem is.

well don't worry about it right now i guess, but if someone could look into it for 3.7 that woiuld be a good thing.
