Say, you wanted to get fit...
Vote.

Uni gym is the closest to what I do. I weight lift at the school weight room and bike around town.
-
Run ***** run!! ;)
-

biking/mountain biking
going gym
boxing
swimming
I think i'am forgetting something
-
I referee soccer, play intramural soccer during the school year and participate in faculty olympics and badminton club. That keeps me pretty busy...I wish I had time to run. That'd be something I'd like to get in on.

[q]3 choice only? Geez![/q]
I'm about to become an honours student with a self run business at the same time, guess why there's only 3 choices? :p
Good feedback so far lads keep it coming.

Running, love it...
Although I'm really soft around the legs, for the if some of you may remember I tore ligaments In my foot and I don't know if they will ever heal :(
-
Edit: sorry double post
-
I cycle. A lot. And, these holidays, I'm taking up cycling to work and back - an hour or so each way. With work inbetween (waiter, general handy bod, anything the restaurant needs me for really), I am gonna get so blitzed.
-
Work 8 hours on computer, another 8 in my house. There's my workout for the day :)
-
Very few choices, indeed. Just a question from a non-native speaker - what exactly is a uni gym?
-
Im a fatass unless someone makes me work out. My Football coach usually takes care of that...
-
I go to the gym at my old school three nights a week after work. I have a ten minute warm-up on an exercise bike, then hop on the running machine. Time was I did the weights as well, but it got boring ;)
Combining this with a half-way healthy approach to eating, my weight has come down from 82.5kg to 77kg over six weeks. I've got my time over 2.4km (1.5 miles) down to 10'08".... but I want the 10...
-

University Gymnasium. :) You know, weights, exercise machines...
[q](1.5 miles) down to 10'08".... but I want the 10...[/q]
Sounds like a challenge...
-
Well, I got to get 11 minutes for the navy, which I can do... but 10 would be good enough for the Royal Marines :D
-
Ah, I see. I was just irritated by the name, since I wouldn't actually connect a gym with a university. Or is it a general term?
Anyway, I go to the gym of a local sports club. On the one hand to work on my aching pack, one the other hand to chat with the folks there. ;)
Though I'm sort of disabled at the moment, since I have a rupture of a muscle fiber in my back. :(

*watches DG get drowned several times by a drill sergeant*
[q]Though I'm sort of disabled at the moment, since I have a rupture of a muscle fiber in my back.[/q]
Now that has GOT to hurt.

Nah, it's half that bad. After a few days, you hardly notice it any more. It's rather the hardenend muscles that hurt, since I get way to little movement.
-
Running. Nothing gets you 'healthier' than running.
Although I'm a bit partial though, being one of the three or so people on both my school Cross Country and Track team... :nervous:

Pump solid fat, sugar and morphine straight into your veins, lean back and take a quick look at FE2 code.
VICTORY
(I walk a lot, with heavy equipment - lol white man's burden lol - and try to go to gym now and then. But I'm a pathetic creature, so don't look at me.)

Falcon sets loose his shivan, now you have a reason to workout. Run Janos Run!
-
I used to play hockey a lot.. I may get back into that....
Although the last time I played I spent a few weeks laid out with a banged up leg. Got crosschecked, fell and slid into the boards legs first, twisted one of em up.

Oi, **** off and leave my thread alone. :p
-
Just some basic stuff, push-ups, pull-ups, walking etc. to keep da blood circulating and me from collapsing into a micro black hole sucking in the whole office & the other staff members there.
Indeed, extensive and prolonged office work can be weery bad for your (at least) physical health, if not countered somehow ;)
-
I go to school on my bike, 12 clicks either way, so 24 a day. Aside from that, I did some running, before I got ill. I'm looking at picking it up again.
-
Uni Gym...it prevents me becoming a lard ball
-
Team sports man, team sports! :D
Apart from that, swimming or cycling. Low-impact stuff is good for ya. ;)
-
[q]Team sports man, team sports![/q]
Did that in high school, and the main complaint was that I'm too focused on victory by myself.
[q] swimming or cycling.[/q]
By the looks of this thread, I might be buying a bike. Mainly because vyper + water = lead weight (don't ask why, I'm just not very bouyant)
-
Anyone ever hear of a Kettlebell? I've got 2... And they are by far the best workout tools I have ever bought.
For working out it depends on what you are going for. If you want to get huge muscles use the gym and lift weights, if you just want to loose alot of fat run.
I'm an ex-USMC... We did 3 miles in 18 mins and then did pushups/situps/pullups... That was good enough for me!
-
swiming and running. but forget about that, who needs exersize? :p
-
50 mins cycling most nights on the eccy bike, 200 sit-ups, 50 push ups (which I am ****e at), and the odd game of 5's when I can arrange it....probably about average fitness, I guess.
-
Running. 45 minutes, 3 times a week.
I'm a big guy, but it only takes a few weeks of jogging before you can run 4 miles without stopping. I used to lift weights but i found that hard to keep focused on and be dedicated to. Plus the fitness benefits aren't really there.
Jogging outdoors is much more fun than a gym. You have to deal with hills, crossing the street, pedestrians (Neds in particular)... and ofcourse the weather, but that just adds to the benefits. With a running jacket on you can still be wearing shorts in the rain and snow. Its more of mix than just a running machine.
Jogging is pretty easy to get started, all you really need is an old t shirt, pair of shorts, and a reasonable pair of trainers (which you may need to risk 10 minutes in JJB sports for). A digital stopwatch is handy, and an MP3 player provides the musical motivation.

[q]Neds in particular)[/q]
See that's what would put me off!
I never learned Krav Maga like I wanted to.
[q](which you may need to risk 10 minutes in JJB sports for).[/q]
The pain is temporary.
