I'm trying to play with the AI in Freespace 2. In coop mode it works fine. When I do dogfight, the ai bots suddenly dissapear.
I also try to do multiplayer in SCP but it doesn't work at all.
what now? :(
-
FS2 never had official bots unless your in multi-campaign mode.
-
correct, there are no bots in FS2 - that's why AI jumps out in Dogfights and why you can't start TvTs without a 2nd player
-
I thought they were supposed to all die in dogfight.
-
Is adding the AI to dogfights possible?(It may good for training.)
-
in this case I ment AI with the player flag set - never tried AI fighters without that flag in a Dogfight mission >> try it TopAce ;)
... as for training: normal hostile AI fighters you find in every Coop, so not really necessary
-
I meant single player. You cannot respawn in single player. A single player dogfight where you can respawn would be the training exercise I am talking about.

You start to confuse me... you already know such a dogfight isn't possible :D
but there is a solution:
create a multiplayer pilot, host a Coop (as LAN game) and you have your respawns... and lots of red dots to shoot at

From Retail FreeSpace or SCP point of view?

I already know about this. But I am talking about DOGFIGHTS! So the other pilots also shoot at each other.

to my knowledge nothing has changed there since the retail version

You, 3 wings of fighters, 1 fighter per wing, all with different alliance status (neutral, unknown, and hostile) however many waves you want, and the "all teams at war" tag. You'd only get to play with 4 ships in the area at any given time, but it'd work.
-
This 'only' is my problem. And I did not about the four IFFs and the 'All teams at war' tag. Don't see any green in my eye, please.
-
If you have more than 4 players why the hell do you need AI bots to practice on?
-
Because not everyone is able to play over the net so well. I do not mean pure piloting skills, I experienced so many LAGs while playing on PXO and I decided it is not worth playing because it is not enjoyable. My net connection is quite slow and a LAN connection is not always available. And even when LAN becomes available, who will I be playing with?
