Mainly after the Capella crisis the GTVA is rebuilding it's fleet and wishes to chart the outher regions of space. Therefor the GTSC Einstein was developed. The ship is meant to travel trough space for a decade, returning with information that can aid the GTVA in any way possible. Armanent is light, though stronger then that of the Faustus, and many claim attacking the ship in simulations gave them the experience as if they were fighting off a cruiser. The GTSC Einstein uses the most modern kinds of technology and has already been found to be four times more effective then the aged Faustus.

Nice.
Do you plan to release it?

Update: Made 2 versions, choose what one you like best. I personaly like the 2nd one.
Option 1
(http://uploads.the-spectrum.org/GTSC-Einstein-B.jpg)
Option 2
(http://uploads.the-spectrum.org/GTSC-Einstein-A.jpg)
-
Second one... first one makes no sense unless you're slicing something. :p You should add some sort of sattelite on the ship though.
-
Second one.
-
Second is better
-
There is no need for special prediction skills to predict which one will win the survey. :D
-
Paddleboat! :p
Seriously though, nice design. Though you might want to detail out the ship itself some more; the panels look good but the ship is a bit brickish.
-
2nd for sure, you releasin that?
-
2nd one and not just cause I made it's freakishly ugly twin sister a few years back.

-
Nice! Number 2 :yes2::):yes:
-
2nd looks better :)
-
2nd - albeit it does have a nasty effect of looking like a mutated paddle-steamer.
-
Nearing completion...

you could add few sensor array on bottom of ship nose and change this green warship texsture to else ( that one wisth had AWAC )
-
If I were you I would make those 2 egg-beaters smaller.
Even the old Faustus had problems with his rotating part (turrets kept hitting it)
Your coveres a even bigger area. I'm afraid your own turrets will be you'r own worst enemy.
Try to keep those radar/sensor panells smaller...
-
I liked the first one. Would've made some badass battering ram.

Not anymore, the SCP dudes stopped turrets from firing if they had no line of sight :)
Anyway, the model is nice enough, but for one thing - no windows. It looks daft with no windows, see? The texturing on the panels is great though
-
Add an AWACS dome on the forward dorsal. If this thing is designed for deep space travel, its gonna need to be aware of any threats in a system, as well as interfere with enemy communications if its discovered.
Do you plan on having a small fighterbay included, as with the Faustus? For that you could possibly recess that nose pannel somewhat. For deep space exporation, its gonna need a bay to send recon wings into planetary environments.
-
The Faustus has a fighterbay? Seriously though, the second one is far better. But the rotating bits are too large and rotating the wrong way. May I suggest counter rotating panels in the style of the Faustus, IE one rotates clockwise, the other counter clockwise.
The thing that really made the Faustus though was the custom texture work and you might consider something similar here.
-
-> Trivial: Most likely the ship will travel accompanied by a cruiser or corvette.
-> Liberator: They will already rotate in opposite dirrection, this is simply where they start for now. I will redirrect the rotation position.
The strange array in front is temp, it will be made hollow, with a sofisticated sort of sensor array in it which might function as a sensor array (hench that the ship is a longprobe that can scan deep into nebula's to find valuable resources/gasses/ship positions).
-
Whoa, dude! Very nice design, and convincingly textured. Well done. ;)
-
TEXTURE/MODEL UPGRADE
(http://uploads.the-spectrum.org/Einstein.jpg)
-
Whoa, even more sweet. Nice pipes. ;) How many polys?
-
2798, so lets say 2800, and 3000 when turrets are on.
-
You should consider using a fairly plain gray map for the pipes, and using a shinemap to make them look shiny / reflective. Might look neat :)

I remember Goober saying this was taken out because it screwed up the balance in original FS2 missions.
-
Was it taken out?
BTW, great model. But wasnt the Einstein destroyed in Silent Threat?
-
Yes, doing black ops for the rogue GTI. It was supposed to be destroyed in the Shivan ambush on Ross 128, but showed up in ST just in time to get blown to bits. Doesn't seem very likely that another craft would bare its name, much less an entire class.
As for the line of fire thing, I understand why that was taken out. But could we get a setting on the FOV instead that specifies horizontal and vertical fields of fire seperately? Wouldn't cover everything, but it'd be a lot better than the current system.
-
Why not?
Ship names are always being reused. Look at how many Enterprises there have been, for instance. And I don't mean NCC-1701, either.
-
That is Star Trek, not Freespace 2. I doubt anyone would allow me to name a destroyer the "Aquitane" if I made campaign 1000 years into the future. :p
-
Why not? I would have no problem with it.
-
I know some people would.... :doubt:

It happens in real life, eejit. Present day carrier called Enterprise, there was one in WWII called Enterprise, and so on back to the original HMS Enterprize.

You cannot figure out a name everyone likes.
-
Ok, need names of greek/roman scientists/phylosyphers etc..
-
Archimedes?
-
GTSC Abelard?
Aristotle, Homer, Plato?
Just some random no-brainer names...
GTSG Hawking :D
-
GTSC Fermi.
Just as close to Einsten as you can get.
(Historical note: Enrico Fermi was one of the main scientists of the A-Bomb team, along with Einsten and a few others).
-
I like the last version, but I'm not a fanatic of the hull texturing
about the turrett thing... was it really taken out????? ohh ****.
I hope there's a way to activate it if the modders need it
-
What's wrong with Einstein? He's the father of modern physics.
-
*Runs off to make a far better version of his GTSC Gallileio*
-
The problem with the Einstein is not the name, it is the nature in which the previous ship was destroyed. Reusing a name is a way of honoring the previous ship and her crew, and I don't think you'd be likely to have a class named after a ship that was destroyed because it was involved in a coup for the simple fact that you'd be glorifying traitors.
-
The thing is, all the Enterprises were in nearly a class of their own. It's like the name Enterprise referred to the vehicle itself. It is also true that the vessels were made from the general ideas from the previous generation, and upgraded to meet the standards of the current generation. The mission was almost always the same.
If the Collossus was destroyed, it wouldnt be a big deal if a next generation super destroyer were created with the same name, design, and mission. However, if something like the Psamtik (sp?) were destroyed, and it was just one of a large handful of Vasudan destroyers of it's kind, it would be kind of taboo to name one of the next generation destroyers Psamtik, unless it was known for having the same one-of-a-kind crew and/or mission. Thats how I see it :).
-
Actually, IIRC, the Einstein was destroyed by Alpha 1 & Co when they jumped in and revealed that they had not been at Ross 128 when it was attacked as was previously thought. The rogue elements of GTI that were directing Alpha's operations up to that point ordered it destroyed to maintain their covert status. The Einstein's crew likely got cold feet and jumped to the nearest system with GTA activity and it just turned out that the closest wing was being monitored by the people they were trying to get away from.

If you're naming for that sort of thing, I suggest Heisenburg, Schroedinger, Dirac, von Neumann and Feynmann.
-
Hell, why not Newton, or maybe if you're tempting fate, Murphy?
-
Von Neumann would be a really cool name for a ship class.
Of course, it's probably because I just like to say the word "neu" (pronounced "noy")
-
It's getting better very nice :)

I'd go for Feynmann. :)
-
You could go with Schweitzer, Bohr, or Mendel

I CONDONE THIS MODEL. NICE GOING BISHOP.

Not Hawking?
-
Qian Xuesen? Theodore von Karman? Leo Szilard?
-
Bill Nye?
-
Turing?
Watson-Watt? (father of Radar....appropriate, but a bit crap)
Whittle? (jet engine)
Or just make up one....after all, who says the famous scientists have to be ones from the 'past'? ;)
-
Hargrove Class. Named after Mina
-
That's great work.
What I'd love to see is an awacs that retracts it's panels when jumping or travelling for no other reson than it would look cool. :)

Name it as the GTSC Molecule!

If you manage to hack his computer, you can download it.
Otherwise, when he releases it.
