Don't get me wrong, I love digital technology. Lucas has always been on the top of things when it comes to pushing the envelope in film making. But if a writer were to embrace digital word processing over using a typewriter, does that writer have the right to REWRITE all past work?
Heres what I mean....

Heres a clip to counter all doctoring accusations....
http://www.penguinbomb.com/omniscaper/Screenshots/Anakin.mov
I got wind of this in //www.theforce.net forums and confirmed it my self.
-
It's real!?
-
Yup.... its Return of the Jedi percieved through the RED pill.
-
Is that all that's going to be changed? Or is doing yet another remastered version?
He has always said that they were never made the way that he wanted...
-
According to reports about the leaked DVDrip floating around P2P networkds, Naboo makes it in one of the celebration sequences as well. I'm still gonna buy the Trilogy DVD set despite these "enhancements".
-
(http://www.penguinbomb.com/omniscaper/Screenshots/Naboo.jpg)
THere it is... the naboo celebration with hundreds of Jar Jar's chilling in roof tops.
I"M SORRY, I MUST DRAW THE LINE HERE!!! HOW DARE LUCAS CORRUPT THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY WITH THE PRESENCE OF JAR JAR!!!
-
Oh get over it you whinning fanboys...
-
Get the originals on laserdisk, get the new triliogy, copy the original unmolested parts as approprate, splice into new versions, burn as DVD.
See Starwars as it was intended.

-
the original star wars is classic. Even Lucas shouldnt screw with it.
-
can't see the clip
-
It's 3 seconds where Hayden materialises beside Yoda and Obi wan.
It would be hard to have faked it.

Here's a list of rumoured changes:
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/showthread.php?p=3337204#post3337204
Interestingly enough, there is actually a few I agree with. For example, it's rumoured the fix the seen when Han shot the bounty hunter back to its original version.
-
I can live with these changes. Except for the Jar Jar part. But more ewoks getting killed is good. I wonder if it's true.
-
the low tech grubby-ness of the originals is what made SW awesome. CG crap is what made the new ones ****. Merging classic stuff (that has already been proven to be the stuff eveybody likes) with nu-crap is going to make it suck even more.
EDIT:
Sebastion Shaw who played Anakin when he was unmasked has been replaced with Hayden Christenson in make-up to make him look older. Anakin has much more dialogue. He apologizes for the destruction he caused, he thanks his son for turning him back to the light, he tells his son to rebuild the Jedi and he says he loves him and his sister. Just before he dies he says, "It is finished...".
Anakin's spirit is now played by Hayden Christenson with make-up to make him look his age. He looks on proudly at his son Luke with the spirit of Padme by his side.
oooohhh hheeeeelll no
Darth vader was so much more awesome when he was whezzeing. No More of anikans self rightous "im sorry" crap
-
I sincerely hope so. At least some of these changes make sense, as opposed to the adding of the moron from Ep. 2.

George Lucas?

-
I guess Lucas has gone senile!!!!!!!
-
No, the one who was physically in the scene as Anakin, as opposed to having a temper tantrum off the camera on how it didn't fit his "vision".
-
lucas's vision kinda sucks now, we should take it away and never give it back. only the true fans can be trusted with the look of star wars
-
Those changes are pretty good actually..........
-
*throws jar-jar action figure at ubermetroid*
how dare you side with the enemy!
its the special effects and the music that are good, the story and the acting must go
-
*Sprinkles powder in hand*
Don't make me use it!!!

-
Lucas must be stopped.
We can't let him continue to destroy his work!
-
Uhhh... he still has the originals :p
-
I sure hope to god he re-masters the originals, and not this new crap, for HiDef when Blu-Ray comes out :blah:
EDIT: Why was :unsure changed to :blah?
-
...
???
-
I replaced the avi clip with a quicktime version.
-
Why is he looking behind him?
-
Maybe he just farted.
-
-
Why are you guys overly concerned about changes that improves continuity between the six movies?
If Haydensen is Anakin in episodes 2-3, what's the big deal about him being in RotJ? I would say its logical.
Its all good to be a fan, but being a fanatic is maybe a little too much. :p
-
...more space shots of the battle of endor...more f*cking SPACE BATTLES!
...that's all I want...
...and no Jar-Jar...he's the one to blame for this mess!

Thats what I have been thinking. All 6 moves are really one big story, so it should work together as much as possible!
-
As I said, I agree with the vast majority of the changes on the list. There are some, though, that I don't (the younger dead Anakin, the victory celebration featuring Jar Jar, and going back to the original Special Edition, that annoying singer in Jabba's palace).
-
The original shooting scene between Han and Greedo has been restored
:D
-
I approve of this. At the very least, it means I can flog off my Special Ed. (mrk 1) Star Wars video for an improved price in the future :nervous: ;7
-
Lucas must be laughing his socks off. No matter how much he butchers and sodomizes your beloved Star Wars universe you guys still go out and buy the DVDs. Jar Jar is a clear message to you guys. Nobody could be stupid enough to think Jar Jar is a good idea. Past that, nobody could be stupid enough to think that with the reception Jar Jar got, lots and lots of Jar Jars is a good idea. Thus Jar Jar is conclusive proof that Lucas is quite seriously taking the piss.
-
Sandwich's gonna take that seriously. :D
-
Yeah I know. I'm such a troll.
-
*glares*
Oh, and:
[q]We also wanted to tell you something perhaps even more significant. Episode I: The Phantom Menace is getting a full overhaul as well. We'll leave you with that for now.[/q]
:wtf:   :sigh: :doubt: :shaking:
-
Well it's seems that George Lucas is going ruin everything he touch now days once great is going down..
-
*From Norway*
Hmm. All those "changes" seem a bit, odd. come on. Its bull****! And the Anakin footage seems faked to me atleast. His head moves too fast in comparison to the rest, indicating that the footage is from a interlaced shot instead of shot using film or digital film. and his reactions don't seem to fit with whats going on in the scene. But if all those changes are real, and that footage too, then... I shall be... Quietly disturbed. But for now, I shall wait and see.
-
They're replacing the dude who played Anakin with the younger version? How awful to edit the poor old guy out because he didn't 'fit'...

Is that the one where they make it good?
-
More Jar Jars.
-
maybe replace all the Gungans with CGI Ewoks ?
-
you know what..............im not even going to bother to watch this. my memories of Star Wars were good, I'd rather not defoil them with what they are doing now.
-
The Vader unmasking still reveals a Sebastion Shaw and not a Hayden thank God. Its just in the ghost scene.
Continuity between the 6 movies, or a blatant COMMERCIAL for Episode 3 "Revenge of the Sith" placed in a KEY moment in Return of the Jedi. I think its the latter.
-
Why don't you guys just ignore him... I assume you have the originals on tape or on DVD or something... don't you? :wtf:

There lies the problem, the original trilogy was never released on DVD. But every die-hard-StarWars-fanboi wants the original, untampered movies in hi-res-DVD-goodness.
And VHS is just ****ty quality :ick:
-
I have video tapes with the 3 first (or are they last :p) eps... It's not ****ty quality... :p If you think it is... well then... what do you think Lucas is trying to do?
-
Well **** you too then.
I'd written a long, balanced response to this, but the forum decided to bugger up when posting it.
-
you know, instead of changing the originals to fit into the continuity of the newer ones, why not just make the newer ones fit into the continuity of the older ones in the first place? it would cost a lot less and be a lot less work.
-
Because that would actually make sense. Never mind that the story that Lucas somehow thinks is most fitting completely screws over the old movies. And besides, he has to come up with a way to get everyone to buy those movies yet again. It'd be what, 4 releases of the same film, with the same potential audience? He has to rehash it some or no one will buy the thing.

That's more or less what I tried to post. Along with the fact that there are already so many discrepancies between the originals and the new films, that any attempts to smooth the transition are a waste of time.
-
Petrarch, I like you too! :p ;)
Now, why won't Lucas focus on the project at hand (episode III) instead of making yet another rehash of a movie that has had more versions of it than one can count of?
-
Do they have the originals on widescreen vhs?
I can just burn them onto a dvd....
-
Doing that will just give you VHS quality DVD. You'll get the convenience of DVD with the lowres quality of VHS. I do like the idea of splicing Laserdisc footage into the DVD version of SW.

Yes, but then you could watch them on DVD and chuck out that old video player.......:blah:
-
What resolution do Laserdisc movies have ? I never saw a LD player in real life.
