I got my permit, after my ***** time taking it! :nervous:
Anyway to keep it interesting, I posted a poll... :D
BTW, it was my third try :D
-
Oh yeah, I got my sex, gigolo and sewage plumbing permit, all on the first go.
-
First try for me. Also first time on my actual lisence test... But then again, tests are easy for me... even if I don't know alot... >.>
-
Well I will admit most of them were common sense, but some of the answers were those that didn't give enough information to narrow down the question or leave two right answers, my first time I had one question left before I passed, the second I had two left, the third I only missed two :D
-
i didn't have to take a 'permit' test... only a license test. and that was over two years ago, close to three. i missed a few questions i think, but i passed easily. it was mostly common sense
-
The Western Austrlian Drivers Liscence test is designed to be failed at least once - you have to sit a written to get your Learners, a Practical to get your logbook, then do 20 hours of supervised driving, then do a computerized Hazard Perception Test. Passed it all first go. :D
-
I could have passed my permit test when I was two years old. I had to take my driving test twice, though.

To get the permit is easy as ****. We need 40 hours supervised driving + 12 hours supervised driving at night. Takes about a year to actually learn to drive, and thats how long it takes before you can swich from permit to liscence in GA. A year and a day. In SC about 30 minits away, you dont even need a days experience to get a liscence.
-
heh... around here they didn't have a driving test. Just one test for the permit (which I passed 1st try).
-
there's two different ways here to get your permit/license here (that i'm aware of) if you're under 18!. if you're over 18, you just go to the DPS, take a test, and if you pass, get the license. if you're under 18, you can either do "drivers ed" which is longer, but you don't have to take/pass a test. if you do it the "homeschooled" way, you have to take the test(s), etc. and your parent/guardian has to sit with you through a set number of hours of driving experience, driving theory, etc.
-
yeah, I did it the 'homeschooled' way. don't know if I met the quota of instruction hours but I know how to drive anyway. :p
-
yeah i did the "homeschooled" way too, while most everyone did "drivers ed". bah losers ;)
homeschooled is better anyway, it's like drivers-ed, but with just one 'instructor' (your parent) and yourself... not five kids piled into a car with an instructor. boo.
-
It's completely different here...
Drivers Ed, only allows your insurance to be lowered by a certain percentage.
Permit is when you're fifteen and one half you can take a writen test which can get you your permit, which only allows you to drive with a liscensed driver in the front seat.
Then when your 16 you can take a driving test that will get you your liscense :)
-
First try. ;)
-
First try on both the permit and license tests. How much of an idiot can you be to actually fail these things? *points to all the morons on the road that can't drive for *****
-
I dunno Vertigo, I know in Australia the testing process is very rigorous and difficult to pass. In fact, I am one of the few among my own friends who passed first go - they're so strict, many of my friends have failed once or twice.
-
Permit test? First try.
-
My 4th try.
I thought the test was pretty hard. You had to get 10/10 questions correct on the sign section and that least a 60 something percent on the general questions.
-
Got my licence on the first try....and it was even on a Friday the 13th :ha:
-
Provisional licenses are green...
Our full licenses are Pink.
Nuff said.
P.S. Pased first time, four minors for God knows what.
-
Steak, you're a virgo too, eh?
9/15 for me.

I feel much safer knowing you have a permit, and I'm on the opposite side of the globe.

yeah well you don't live in Texas, that's probably why.
over here you can get your permit as soon as you turn 15. well i did anyway. but depending whether or not you took drivers ed, you may have to take the test to get the license
-
Braindead people could pass the test in Texas...
-
and they do :nervous:
-
I hear the legal age for a permit is 14 in Georgia...
-
Roadkill city by the sounds of it.
-
Passed my Driver's License test on the first go. Easy.
-
My parents have been bugging me since I was 16 to learn how to drive its so annoying they said once I learn I get to do "errands" for them which is one of the reasons why I haven't learned at all...... Yep..... My whole family is just lazy and so am I........ Ill get my license hmmmmm........ never........
Instead ill learn how to fly planes while spraying lethal chemicles and bio-agents on everything that lies in my path..... :drevil:

Permit age here is 16. Liscence age here is 16.5... Drivers ed is manditory if you are under 18, but if you wait till you turn 18, you can bypass it, but you don't get any slight changes to your insurance. The permit test is easy, and anyone can drive down a road, but they (in my state [MA]) test you on driving correctly and making sure you can do stuff, like 3 point turns, paralell park, and hill starts/stops, along with securing you'r parked car. If you can't do all these and more perfectly on your test, you'll fail. Just out of curiosity, what state are you in jtjt? Oh, and i passed my permit the first try. I'm almost 17 now, and still need 3 hours of driving under certified observation, and 3 hours observing someone driving under certified observation... That'll take about a month from now... (my next is the 9th)... If you're going to take D.E. (which i strongly reccomend), get into it ASAP instead of putting it off... Look at me; could have had it in april...

Heh, yeah. For some reason, lots of my local friends seem to think it's funny that I'm a Virgo. :p

Setekh, what's with the flower in the license? And why two licenses?
-
one's his learner's license the other is his real license.

Put it to you this way. People that are so stupid that they can't even READ can get a driver's license here in the US with ease. Don't you love it when people cator to the lowest common denominator when it comes to other people's safety on the road? :(

That flower is the waratah, my state's floral emblem. :) And yeah, you'll notice the licence in the background is a 'learner' licence and it has a hole punched through it. If you're a learner, you need to have a fully-licensed driver with you all the time. I can drive on my own now, but I'm still a couple of levels from getting a full licence.
Man, Vertigo, that sucks. Australia used to be a bit like that but we got sick of the road toll.
-
[q]I can drive on my own now, but I'm still a couple of levels from getting a full licence[/q]
You what son? :wtf:
-
In my state, there are five levels of licence:
- Learner
- Provisional 1 (Red)
- Provisional 2 (Green)
- Full 1 (Silver)
- Full 2 (Gold)
There's also a sixth type, black, but that's less important. Anyway, when you're on your learner's licence, you can't drive on your own. Once you pass from those, you can drive on your own, but you're still two levels from getting a full licence.
-
Why would one want to have a full license then? What does it has that the others don't?
-
Doesn't expire so quickly, you can drive faster, and you don't have to have plates on the outside of your car that say you're a provisional driver. ;) Also, you can sometimes get reduced insurance premiums if you have a gold licence (a gold licence means you haven't had a traffic offense for five years).

In Blighty we have a provisional licence (where you drive but only under supervision) and the full licence (which I've got)
-
heh... thats sortof like MA's system... As soon as i get my lsicence, it'll have a JOL restriction, that i can't have people under 18 in the car, or drive between 11PM and 5AM without an adult, for 6 months... Then that goes away, and i'm left with a standard class D liscence (M if i was riding motorcycles)... Once i have turned 18, i can take some tests and some short classroom studies, and i can go directly to a class A, which means i can drive *looks in book*
"Any combination of vehicleswith a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more provided the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicles being towed is over 10,000 pounds, except a school bus. With a class A liscence, you may operate any vehicle covered under classes B, C, and D."
After that, I can get a CDL and Haz-Mat, (and yes, i am planning on all this, since it is nesessary for my job) so i can essentially drive ANY vehicle...

I'm sorry but, no...
Every state has different laws and test, not the US as a whole
-
I took my permit test 4 years and passed the 2nd time. Haven't used it since.
