Title: Pimp your (completed) campaign!
Post by: magatsu1 on August 06, 2004, 04:41:17 pm
Yay Broadband! Fear my 1.1Mbps!!

So now I can finally see what all you big project guys have been up to.
I've (so far) got TBP and Inferno buils (TBP took 30 mins as apposed to 9+ hours) and SCP 3.6 is on the "to do" list soon as I can get the link to work.

So what's next ? With so many campaigns at various stage of completion it's hard to know where to look for finished stuff.

Derelict, get Derelict! If you can find the voice files (This is HARD), then get those too! Derelict ROCKS :)

And the Aeos Affair, that's pretty good too.

Light Marshals missions ain't bad.

The recently released Renegade ressurgence is not bad either.

Go to the campaigns forum and click on Skippy's campaign list (Or go through my FAQ's main page).

Lots of completed stuff on there like CoW and Homesick that are well worth playing :)

If you can PM me with details about where the voice files are, I can arrange for it to get mirrored over here.

Casualties of War (http://www.3dap.com/hlp/hosted/casofwar/)

EDIT; looks like only the Fileplanet links work - the Skippys Campaign List & FS2Sector ones are 404-ed.  I'm seeing about getting access to the website to fix it.

I believe I actually have those 4 or so missions with sound file.

Yep, checked them out. They seem to be the original sound acted parts of the Derelict campaign.

edit: should so be desired I can

a. send them over via msn or irc for example

or

b. upload them to one of the FS2 ftps should the owners of these ftps agree.

you do know that 3.6 is old and outdated, right? (plus a few overlooked bugs) check the recent builds forum... Good job getting HSI though, i'll be getting it (again) before the end of the month...

The BWO demo has been out for a while.

Don't forget Sol: A History.  I think it's even better than Homesick. :)

I was gonna ask you about those links (as it happens). I noticed the entry you posted on Skippy's list. Got most of it now though, thanks.

Enemies United is and old campaign by me. It's a bit short and has perhaps a bit too much capital ship fighting :p but most of the people that have played it claimed to like it. It has voice acting aswell and a few a bit unique missions.

Sadly... most of the download locations for it are propably long gone allready...

You don't have the voice acting on your computer anymore?? That's too bad for everyone... Some of the voice files still work, but other are corrupt (perhaps something to do with newer versions of winzip?) The missions are still there, as stated in the post above.

Hmm ok, it might be corrupted zip files >_>
I apologize for the inconvenience it has caused., if that's the case.

I do have the original files on some CD and also an installer Kazan once made for it. The installer is around 20M big and includes prettymuch everything.

Lemme have a look if I could find a space for it, speed is not such a problem.

20megs is quite a large file though, wonder if I can find a free space for it :p

Ask one of the HLP admins ;)
Title: Pimp your (completed) campaign!
Post by: TopAce on August 12, 2004, 08:14:08 am
It is closely relating to the 'Hosting and HLP' topic, since it is actually file hosting. :) But I think this time the admins can make exception.
Title: Pimp your (completed) campaign!
Post by: karajorma on August 12, 2004, 08:54:01 am
The admins have stated that they have no objection to hosting completed projects. :D

The rule against hosting is not from a standpoint of space or number of campaigns. They just don't want talent being drawn away from the currently hosted campaigns resulting in more campaigns being abandoned.
Title: Pimp your (completed) campaign!
Post by: TopAce on August 12, 2004, 09:08:46 am
Its strange that I still didn't get hosting for RR when it was at 95%. Sandwich directly told me providing a forum to me is definitely possible.
Title: Pimp your (completed) campaign!
Post by: Gortef on August 13, 2004, 07:48:25 am
Hmm, ok sure it would an honor to be hosted in HLP :D
(seriously though, I've thought about it time to times but never really got into it :p )

So if any of you admins read this, gimme a PM if it's possible ^^

but in the meantime use this (http://www.omistus.com/gortef/eu.exe) link

Not yet. I might be able to get some webspace from my friend though (he's hosting the file allready).

All right... Now we just have to find those people, who released campaigns all those years ago (or they have to read this thread)... I remember some very good campaigns were on the archive's site and it would be a shame to see them disappear forever...

So, if you've got a campaign, please upload it somewhere and let the gamers know about it (again).

True, but that's not too visible now is it? Even with skippy's list, there are a lot of campaigns missing.

Well, one could always make a page out of all the people's signatures, provided that one could access the database and retrieve them.

There are a lot more campaigns of the volitionwatch archives... perhaps somebody still has a few of those campaigns, which are not listed on skippy's campaign list?

or we could write to the authors?

haha lol, even my aborted attempt at making a campaign (gateway) is there.
More missions will follow... not, obviously

(even though I did throw away my storyline I do have the stuff -missions- laying around somewhere, including a number that were never released. Mhh, I might be arsed to actually take up fredding again and rework/finish the thing. Maybe.

If there are people interested in the unreleased missions I will go and try to find them.
If there are people interested in me actually finishing the thing you'll have to do a lot of convincing... cause fredding is boring.
Should I be convinced -a big if considering the requirements :D- I'm fairly certain that I won't be working on the damn thing alone.)

Into The Depths of Hell (http://www.geocities.com/noiseball2000/itdoh.html)
So much work done,,, three chapters finished,,, fourth almost done,,, yet almost no one knows I exist:(   It may not be the greatest thing since Inferno, but at least I've produced which is a lot more than most can say.

Homesick

Without a doubt the best campaign ever made in the Freespace engine. It surpasses both retail campaigns in terms of suspense, gameplay, re-play value and storyline. Especially cool part is the ending. It is the campaign. :)

Pandoras Box (http://archives.volitionwatch.com/fs2/missions/download.php3?MissID=322)
 (Have only VW Link)

During the NTF Rebellion, a Group of NTF Members capture a New Hecate Class Destroyer the "Pandora", in this 18 Missions long Campaign,  you hunted down the Pandora and find many other things.

In this Campaign you must often choose between Missions. So you must play this Campaign two Times to play all Missions.

Revenge - The Final Conflict (http://home.arcor.de/gs-ds/revenge.exe)
(German Version, i don't know if exist a English Version, who want, can try to translate it :D )

In this 99 (!!!) Missions long Campaign you fight against the Shivans again, but a few FS2 Questions were answered. You knew where the Shivans bring Admiral Bosch and what happen to him. You knew how the Shivans could destroy the capella star and many more.

It doesn't help that you only post once in a while and very rarely pimp your work Noise. The Campaign Forum tends to be fairly dead too. There are lots of people who don't check anything in there so people fail to notice when campaigns are released.

If you translate it into english, i'll check it for any grammatical errors. I'd translate it myself, but neither english nor german are my native languages, plus i kinda suck at german.

I started a campaign once...more of a crossover between my universe and this one. Lets just say i put it to rest ;)

Not much other recommendations I can give except maybe inferno (although im stuck on one mission which keeps on CTDs) or LM1-4.

I will also have the Advanced Level Exam soon. But despite I still stick to my point that only natives should do grammar check.
You know, a sentence being grammatically correct does not mean it sounds fine for the ears of natives. Only natives can evaluate how 'real' a sentence is. You may consider the word 'real' the same as 'used in everyday speech'.
