Title: Aldo's MODs
Post by: InfernoGod on August 06, 2004, 08:18:02 pm
While I'm waiting for my FREDing computer to get fixed, I've been looking for some really great MODs to play with, and Aldo's stuck out the most. I'm wondering (this question is more directed towards Aldo), what are you're top ten favorite MODs? You can never have too many ships to blow things up with!;7

You must not have seen Venoms stuff, then.

Um.... can't think of any I'm particularly fond of.  Maybe the HTL Claymore, but that's never been completely converted.

Is there a version of them you'd like completed too? Send it with the Selkie, I'll get them both going at once. ;)

Well...it's actually pof-ed, but I can't add docking points because of a PCS glitch.  But it's likely I'll add a cockpit, if I can find the original max files.

http://www.aldo14.f2s.com/portfolio.html has the model itself..think it may be LOD0, though.

I think your best model is the *checks CoW website* GTB Phoebus. That, or your Ursa MK2 bomber, I love the texturing job on both of them.

I will be honest, Venom's new Escheziel is better. Though your stuff is better than all his older models, which is essentially all of them minus one or two.

Hey Aldo, I just looked at your porfolio site.  That Vasudan fighter's very cool.  Was intended as a heavy assault or space-supperiority?  That Dropship thing, could work well as a support ship for an atmospheric mission.  That carrier ship at the bottom is reminiscent of the Odin destroyer.  Would the Odin be another one of yours?

Later!

Aldo gives us the most stuff of his to like. :D

And he knows what stuff I like, although I can't tell you. :p

I didn't make the Ursa Mk.2.  In fact, I don't even think I've seen an Ursa Mk.2.  And the Phoebus is well iffy, because the mapping is bad - both in terms of details and the UV-ing of it.  Selkie / Claymore are much better in that respect.

Vasudan thing was, um, a space sup -  I think.  Dropship is actually a shoddy model, i put it in there to pad that page out.  I didn't make the Odin - Bob did - but I do like the sort of 'assault weapon' type look of it (namely the upper 'handle, IIRC, on it), so I tend to use it as a design influence.

Did I say Ursa? I meant the Boangerses (sp?) 2.

fine, fine, the thing that resembled a Boangerses, which I dubbed the MK2 in my mind. You know, the purple one.

Ursa Mk 2? I think someone else modelled it but Woomeister did the skinning.

Smoothing was off at the bottom, tho - too few polys.

(there's always something.......)

It's true, though....I can never stand my models a few months after they're finished, because I notice all the little defects.
