Post by: Unknown Target on August 09, 2004, 02:29:20 am
The first of the original models to recieve a make over to reflect the new modeling standards I am imposing on the models, I present the Cobra :)

The old:

[color=66ff00]You might very well kick me for this but I thought the old version was much cooler looking. :(

I think you went a bit too rounded with the new version and it takes away from it's edge for me, looks a lot less threatening.

I must agree with meag. I think the primary thing that makes it look less fearsome is the cockpit. Try putting it back to something similar to the first version, and IMO, it'll look a lot cooler.

[color=66ff00]I think the problem with a few models that I've seen lately is that people are making the curvier because they can and not for any asthetic reason or practical reason.

The first model as I said before looks edgy, not in a literal sense; I'm referring to the feel of it as I see it. It looks fast, manuverable and letal. The remake loses that edge and looks more like a light leisure aircraft, kinda like a powered glider.

But this is all IMHO of course and if you like it then that's really all that's important.

More to your tastes? :)

BTW, the new one is 2674 polies, while the old is 1497, so there's no huge difference poly-wise (most of the new polies come from the cockpit I added in the new one).

The cockpit devours too many polies in my opinion.

The pilot and cockpit  is 606 polies total.

At first, I thought there is merely a chair in the cockpit, but later I realized there's actually a low-poly pilot in there. I thought you would add the pilot later.

[color=66ff00]Tres cool, I'd still keep the original as a variant though as it really is a great model.

Let the original be the Cobra Mk I while the latest one the Cobra Mk II. Suggestion!

did that to save polies. Besides, when would you see him/her close enough to really see through the textures?
