Okay, so I'm working on some...stuff...for my new FS2 campaign, and I'm trying to get little clips from the FreeSpace 2 cinematics. I downloaded the AVI versions from the FTP server, and got them all set up.
I can play them fine using Windows Media Player and all, but when I try to load them into Adobe Premiere, I always get an error. I assume it has something to do with the codec, as I can import other AVIs fine. Even DivX AVIs.
So, is there another version of the AVIs somewhere? Or a tool to convert the MVEs to something other than DivX-encoded AVIs? Or, has anyone else encountered this problem with Adobe Premiere 6.5 and found a fix/workaround?
Thanks.

Someone should be along to help you shortly, but welcome to the boards.

Use Virtaul Dub - that's a free encoder/mixer software.
It is very generous with files, can recover a lot of lost cases.
It will tell you what kind of codecs you need - and if you insist on using Adobe Premier you can export into some Indeo / uncompreseed format using VRDub.

I've never used premier myself so I can't help you with that but if you want to get hold of uncompressed versions of the avi's so you can compress them yourself this should help

Ah, great, thanks guys!
VRDub had trouble with the downloaded ones too, but getting them straight from the CD in MVE format worked fine, as long as I converted them using VRDub rather than Premiere.
Thanks for all the help!

I'm surprised that VDub had trouble with them. I made them in VDub :D

also try Windows Movie Maker: it won't work with 9x or 2k, but it usually comes standard with XP, and has done a great job for me... it just doesn't convert (AFAIK) but VDub does that fine...
