Title: FRED2 weapon changes???

Hey, its been a long time since I have posted here and lately I have been developing a campaign but I have a problem in FRED2.  I cant seem to change the configuration of the turrets on cap ships.  I want to turn human beam turrets to Shivan beam cannons but for some reason these changes will not take effect.  I remember a long time ago, it was possible but since then I have had to reinstall Freespace 2 and since then, my changes will not take effect.

Odd.  The weapon editor for each big ship should allow you to replace the weapons at each mount with ease.  For example: Change BFGreen to BFRed, and voila!

Or is the problem that the beam weapons are not firing at all?  Remember you need to use the 'beam-free' sexps to activate beam weapons on a ship.

they all fire but theyre always the standard green beams, and I look at FRED 2 and it says "SRED" and I replace the anti fighter cannons with the shivan equivilant and the same thing happens.  Is it a glitch in the program... I dont have v1.20 installed yet... the server seems to be down..

This really shouldn't be happening - The weapons editor has always worked fine for me in the past. Are there any other ships of the same class in the mission? I know FS2 doesn't like having to deal with two different weapons configurations on the same class sometimes... are you using FSO or vanilla Freespace 2? If this was a bug, it's possible it's been fixed.

Also, if all else fails, get into notepad and confirm that you have changed the weapons over. Otherwise, I've got no idea what might be causing this...

Well I had FSO but the Undo command wouldnt work for Fred and it was way too slow.  It would start bogging down after 4 ships.   So while Im at it, could you guys give me tips as to how to resolve these things.  I checked Mantis but the solution still eludes me.
