system:
PIII866
256mb ram
ATI Radeon 9600xt
Catalyst 4.4
Windows 2000
so, yeah i got this problem with FS... well why don't i just show you:
note the distasteful lines and horribly screwed up text
(http://www.scifi-3d.de/wcsaga/Spidey/fsscreen.jpg)
-
lines are from a nonstandard resolution... run at 800x600 or 1024x768 to remove them text might be related to the geforce text problem, but unlikely since you have a 9600...
-
upgrade your graphics driver from your manufacturers website.
-
actually, that'd be bad, since after 4.4, radeons stop supporting shine maps... also, ahve you tried FSO? thats a vanillia screen, so i wonder if that would solve it...
-
Hippo, 800x600 is a nonstandard resolution. The two that FS2 shipped as supporting were 640x480 and 1024x768. Of course, if he doesn't have sparky_hi.vp, 1024x768 is also a non-standard resolution.
-
whoops... i meant 640x480... but it appears he's running at 1280x1024, since his screenshot fits my screen (wich is that size) perfectly, and i had the same problems when i tried 1280x1024...
-
Yeah, I think you're right, because I'm running at 1024x768, and they don't fit my screen at all.
-
hm... its not 1280 though... it was fitting my AOL window, wich is already fubar'ed... according to the properties, it is 1024 though... so something else is a factor here...
-
that's right i'm running on 1024x768 with sparky_hi
back when i was on 3.9 it was fine, but when i pumped up the anti-aliasing to max, i got these lines but it was fine at application preferences. now with 4.4 its like that no matter what setting i put it at. and after I installed 4.4, there have been a number of times where i got a weird blue screen of death during windows startup(the windows 2k title page) and it had something to do with a bad software install(maybe) anyways, the only way to get rid of it was to go into safe mode, unistall ATI, and then reinstall it.
maybe this info will help you guys help me?
-
Turn... off... AA
You will notice the lines will... vanish...
-
Hey Spidey-, welcome to HLP. :) Yeah, have you got full screen anti-aliasing enabled? That can cause problems with the game text like you notice there.
:welcome:

Like Ghostavo and Setekh said, FSAA will do that. AF is also a source of trouble in that regard, or at least that's the case with Falcon 4. Just flick it all off.
