I just got back, have to ring around and organise things. Thanks, everyone. I truly appreciate it. Meanwhile, I have a eulogy to write. Not sure when I'll be back, guys, but it shouldn't be too long.

Dude. Pardon the language, but **** us. We aren't important right now. Take as much time as you have to. Dont be embarrased to vent either, wether it's crying, or throwing rocks in the ocean and yelling at the waves, you'll feel a hell of a lot better later.
I'm pretty useless in these situations, so I'll just add my condolences and leave you alone.
-
Eddie - my prayers and condolences.
I sent you an email to your 3dap account.
-
So sorry Steak.
-
Sorry to hear it Steak, like Kaj said were all here for you.
-
My condolences old friend. :(
-
My condolences. :( I can't imagine the heartache of being separated from her, but you can always look forward to the reunion. :)
Romans 8:37-39
...in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-
Sorry to hear about that, Setekh :(

Take as much time as you need - this is more important than HLP, so dont worry even a bit about us.

I am saddened to hear of your loss, my prayers go out to you and your family Setekh:(
-
I am very sorry to hear that. It's hard to find the right words in these situations, but maybe this will help, it's what my father told me when i lost my first fiance.....
Mourn your loss, not her life. And remember her as she was, not as she is. That way, you remember how she touched your life, and through the lessons learned, she lives on in you.
I'm truly sorry that that's the best i can do for a kind word. I hope that you family finds solace in this time of need.

Things are going okay right now. Over the past 24 hours, most of us have reconciled ourselves to the whole event - though we haven't (and won't for at least a couple of weeks) gotten used to the whole idea of her not being around now. I had some mates over last night to mourn with us - it was a very joyful time. :)
The funeral is on Friday morning.
-
This is from my sermon notes today. You know it, of course, Eddie, but such truths are always good to hear in times like this:
We do not now know fully what our mode of existence will be like in the New Jerusalem, but nevertheless God has revealed to us some knowledge about it. The keystone of our Christian hope is, of course, the promised resurrection from death. The Apostle’s Creed summarises the eschatological vision with a succinct reference to “the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting,” while the Nicene Creed uses almost the same wording. This central point is the key to all of creation’s redemption, Romans 8 tells us, and the desire of our inmost beings. We groan inwardly, waiting for the day when Jesus will return, when we will be raised to new life, imperishable and immortal, to inherit the kingdom of God so that “They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” This will be the end of the tyranny of death and the fear of nothingness that gnaws at the human heart. At its most fundamental level, the gospel offers us hope because it offers us life with our God and Father in a relationship that is never to be broken again by the powers of death.
Blessings, comfort and joy, my friend. God is with you.
-
*hug* Sorry Steak.. Glad you're dealing okay.
-
Damn...
I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said. I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through. You have my deepest sympathy.
-
oh dear :(
My deepest condolences Setekh
-
Thanks again for all the words, guys. You got some top notes there, Sesq. :)
Things are in place for the funeral, which is happening in one and a half days. Took this week off uni so far... but it's felt as if it's been ages since she passed away. Strange.
-
Setekh, my sincerest condolences. I'd hug u right now if you were here. My prayers go out to u and your family.
-
Why do the worst things happen to the best people?
Some times the mind grows numb to drive away the pain. I think that you are in that stage right now. From the little I know, it seems that your mother suffered a lot. If anything can be said about that, she is not suffering now.
When the pain of her loss returns, please remember 3 things...
1) She is not in pain anymore.
2) She will always be watching over you.
3) She never wants to see you sad. Your smile means the world for her.
She walks with angels.
-
As well from this side of the universe, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.
-
Setekh, I send you and your family my sincere sympathies.
I find that memories of those loved serve well to brighten up dark times. Remembering our loved ones makes sure that they haven't moved on and left us behind, but that they are always here with us.
-
I can't really say much that hasn't been said already. I'm very sorry for your loss. You're one of the most mature and level-headed people I know of, so I know you'll make it through this just fine. Take all the time you need to mourn and know that we'll all be here waiting for you.
-
Hope you're doing allright Set.
-
:blah: :(
-
I remember months ago when she was not well. I also remember you not feeling too well, Setekh. As someone who's lost a family member I can tell you it does get better, and you will feel better in time. And it's not that you forget, she's just in a better place. Wherever that may be.
My condolences
-
I don't think there's anything new I can say. You seem to be coping well. Given time everything will be ok.
Peter
-
I spoke to Galemp online, and he too sends his condolances.
-
The funeral was today. It was amazing - 50 of my friends alone came. There was something like 220 attendees in total... we couldn't all fit in the church. :)
-
My deepest condolences Setekh.:( :(
-
Steak, there's a song titled In My Life by the Christian band Selah. I strongly suggest it to you.
Death is rebirth, my brother.

It feels good to know that people care about you enough to come to your mothers funeral, doesn't it :)
I've been the same situation once, (the Church being packed) but this is not the place for it.
I wish you the best days ahead
-
Thanks for the recommendation, Rampage. I'll try and track it down.

Yeah, it's funny, you could've mistaken it for my funeral. ;) You're absolutely right, it really was wonderful - I know they all wanted to be there, though. Every one of my friends who walked in our door was a son or daughter to her. :)
-
I'm glad she got the sending off she deserved Setekh, she certainly seems to have done a fine job with her own kid, so she can at least move on proud :)
-
It sounds like she was a strong, Godly woman full of love, Eddie. Be proud. :)
-
Thanks, guys. I'm sure she would have been amazed at all the support she's been getting from you guys around the world, too... it's awesome.
As for this week, I may be takinge it off uni as well, to spend time hanging out with family and closing off this part of the mourning process. It's been kinda strange the last few days because relatives have been over, meaning the house has been totally packed out and busy like nothing else. Come Monday it'll be just us four (Dad, brother, sister, me) in the house... really quiet. Just have to wait it out, right now... which gives me time to catch up to all the emails and PMs I haven't been able to answer. ;)
-
Take the time off and spend as much time with your family as you can.
I bet she is amazed Eddie, I'm almost sure she is :)
-
Sorry to hear that, but I am glad ever the more that she's with her maker! :D
Sorry if that sounded cold, but I don't worry and think about death like most people do.
*goes back off to his secret place*
-
*prays* :(
-
Sounds Like she was amazing and strong and rememper her soul
Is part of you Forever :)
-
We just sent the relatives off to the airport. The house is going to be awfully quiet for the next couple of weeks.

HotSnoJ, I appreciate your approach, and I know where you're coming from, but let me give you a piece of friendly advice. When there is grief, you must always recognise it, even if it's not yours - especially when it's not yours. It's a matter of sensitivity; the sadness of others is never to be underestimated. Remember, blessed are those who mourn. :)
-
:( so sorry man..
-
in open fields of wild flowers, she breathes the air and flys away...
-
LSFAS - JOC. Awesome. :)
-
You'd be proud, Sandwich - Impurial and I went to a Jars concert earlier in the year. We love it. ;)
I went back to uni today and met up with some of my Christian friends to read the Bible and hang out for a while. The support they've been providing has really been... something special. It's great.
-
Glad to hear you have support my friend, keep taking it easy - it goes without saying that everyone is here for you :)
