I just spent the last 14 Hours playing through the entire Homesick campaign.
Its been a long time since ive actually played Freespace 2 rather than just FRED for it or do cutscenes and stuff. Heck, its been a long time since ive actually played any game. Let me tell you - it was fantastic fun!!! The story was great (although a bit sad towards the end :() and It was definately worth the 16 hours and the lack of sleep that brought.
The problem is......now im wanting more!!
Anyone know any 20+ mission campaigns (other than Derelict) that are completed and out? If this is what burning a weekend means, I really want to burn more! ;7 ;) :D

It's been a while since I've gone through the list of all the campaigns I've ever downloaded... I don't know about 'long' ones, but let me see if I can pick out the noteworthy ones...
Aeos Affair
Casualties of War
Sol: A History
Warzone
Maybe others. All the campaigns are in archives and the names of the files are nebulous at best.

I just finished "Great War 2 Part 2," which you can find at the VolitionWatch Archives. If you don't mind insane numbers of capital ships/enemy fighters and bombers, inexplicable multiple Colossuses, and what I've heard called the "Battle of Endor Syndrome," it's actually pretty fun :). I appreciated how the campaign author gives you respawning wings of friendly fighters and bombers; it actually makes the AI seem useful.
This brings up a point of contention I had with the main FS2 campaign. Command had no concept of using large numbers of fighters/bombers to overcome the Shivans. Take Bearbaiting, for instance. Your task would have been much easier if 20 bombers had been committed, instead of just 4. I mean, if a killer ship is headed into allied space, wouldn't it make sense to throw everything you have at it? Heck, with that many bombers, you could have destroyed the Sathanas without worrying about the Colossus. I hold the opinion that, if Command had assigned wave after wave of bombers, they actually could have done some real damage against the Sathanas fleet. Instead, they send in one disabled Colossus. They need to fire their strategists :p.
P.S. I was also depressed at the end of Homesick. I really liked those wingmen :(.

I'm messing around with a campaign that should have about 40 missions. It won't be ready for at lease another 2 months. I'll drop a link when it's ready.

Take a look through the ever helpful and almighty Campaign List (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/hlp/category_show_idal.php?cat=67) .
Other works of old maybe found at the VolitionWatch Archives (http://archives.volitionwatch.com/) , which appears to be still operational for the time being.
(Maybe I should get around to rearranging my campaign so you have to play through all 16 missions... Nah!)

I think HomeSick had the best ending of all campaigns I've ever played.
Then again, there was nothing to the campaign that was not perfect.

is The Road to Hell.... the last mission in homesick? i'm asking because i can't get passed that mission lol

I don't know... I never really liked the ending that much (too much deus ex machina for my tastes), but the quality of the campaign itself is undeniable. It's great fun to play.

Since I dont remember which mission that was, I'll just mention that there are no shivans in the last Homesick mission.
And yeah, that was a rather upsetting ending (in a good way, though).
