Does anybody else get anything like this on the arse end of their thrusters too?
It's really friggin noticeable and pretty annoying in game, I was just wondering if it was a known issue or not.
I'm running at 640x480 D3D 4x multisample(I just like having a working target lead too much. ;) if that makes a difference. The screenshot was taken with YAB2 from the recent SCP Release forum, but I also get it with the vanilla 3.6 release Bob's stencil shadow test(which is why I ran YAB because thats when I first noticed it and theres funky stuff going on with the thrusters in bob's build) and also fs2_open_C062222004 build. :eek2: So yea, someones probably said something but eh, thought Id say something in case nothing was said...I confused myself, gotta go.
[Edit] I'm using the latest media vp z pack machine stats are
Athlon [email protected](underclocked:wtf: )
Geforce FX 5900 128MB
512 DDR

1.63Ghz isn't underclocked for an Athlon 2000+ BTW

I should put texture clamping on for rendering that stuf, it would get rid of this sort of crap, would someone do that, it's two lines of work, gr_set_texture_addressing(clamp) and then wrap after the stuff that needs the rendering.
-
I think you can enable texture clamp in the nvidia driver-settings.
I have a problem too (i dont want to start a new thread):
when i enable "Fix font distortion" and anti-aliasing this happens:

He doesn't do nVidia specific coding, tho... He does ATi specific coding. :p
-
@Overlord: I used to be able to but that was only for opengl (I had to do it for NWN) but I don't remember seeing it for d3d, also I'm running on 61.72 version drivers and the option isn't there anymore even for OpenGL sooooo....
@aldo_14: an AMD 2000+ has a rated speed of 1.66 Ghz(which will freeze my computer if I clock it at that, I tried a freinds stick of better ram speedwise and it made no difference.) mine is running as I stated at 1.63 Ghz which is a difference of 300 Mhz which is underclocked FSB clocked jjust under 133MHZ. See this review
http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/xp2k+/2000plus.htm
or just google it. Don't give me any junk about disparity in advertised speed and actual speed because that big of a difference is like saying here is a pentium II 350mhz but sometimes a chip will only run at 50 mhz. :)
-
@Raa: It shouldn't matter whether it's specific or not if he's doing it for direct 3d then the clamping is most likely instituted universally because it's coded into the API and the API works with the drivers or something like that. Texture clamp is a pretty universal thing. :)
-
Yeah, i read that wrong. :p

The buttons in all language versions of Winblows are in the same place.
-
Ja, I found it. :) Stupid me was looking in the wring place, yanno it was already on though so it wasn't helping any.

This is no bug. You're using bad trails. Use any up-to-date engine trail graphics and you wont have the problem anymore.
-
Bad trails are in the newest media VPs? hmmmm..... *goes off to find some new trails*
-
Uh, those trails aren't from the media VP.
IIRC they put Turambar's trails in there which dont look like the pic you posted at all.
Try the B-L hybrid trails: Hybrids1.2 (http://www.penguinbomb.com/lightspeed/Bobboau_Lightspeed_Maps_V1.2.zip)
Your problem should be gone with them.
-
i got trails like those with the media vp's
-
Time to ***** at the mediaVP guys, then. :p :)
