heres my new warp flare thingy. I'll get rid of the edges at the top and bottom, but how do you like it?

It's good, but it's not noticible enough and the edges are still visible.

its noticeable, the effect is larger and brighter, but yes, it is quite a little thing, just another little thing that improves the general visual appeal of the SCP, thats my dev process, i play the game and i try to find little things that look bad

like thats all itll be is the flare, none of that warp crap? cuz that would be very nice :nod:

i wish i knew how to make .ani files, i've asked for help in that area several times, but have recieved none. the warp anim could have a brighter core and maybe i could tweak the effect a little, but i dont know how

that's because making ani files is a pain in the ass...
ani's aren't really like 'movies'. No compression. The .ani file itself is just a whole boatload of .pcxs saved in series. How do you make them? Simple. Just get each individual frame, save it as a .pcx with an incrementing name (not sure if there's rules about this) like ani0000.pcx, ani0001.pcx, etc... Make sure all their pallets are the same (or is there some specific pallet that you have to use?). And then shove it through anibuilder, and pray.
That's about it.

you'd probably want to have a key frame somewhere in there that the "loop" starts at once it passes initially. essentially if you have a ten frame ani.....when it starts it starts with frame 0, and then goes through all of the frames, but when it loops back it notices that i set frame 3 as the key frame and it starts the second, and all subsequent runs there. Basically this would be useful for something likje say....a stargate....whereas the first 2 frames are the Stargate opening, and the rest are the event horizon.......i know not realistic with so few frames, but you get the idea, without that keyframe in there we would see the stargate open and then the event horizon, and the stargate open again, etc etc etc. With the key frame we see it open once only...the rest of the frames just keep playing so all we see is the event horizon. You can do this just as easily. My thought is, if you take the first few frames of the Warp opening, and add your flare, then put your key frame in after the flares....only the original warp frames would play. So we would see it open with the bright beautiful flare, but the flare would go out and the warp effect would continue until the ship passed completely through it.

Give us a .gif or short movie clip, its easier to judge .anis that way.
Looking good, how's the texture upgrade going? Too bad I don't have time or skills to do anything nice by myself, so I must just resort to sprouting **** and trolling Rictor. :)

And I kinda prefer the older warp flares... They were perfect as they were. *everything* doesn't need to be changed, just because we can...
