I'm not sure if engine glows are *supposed* to be that big (intersect the ship's hull, etc.) or not. Any help here? If possible.. any way to make them a little less 'dominating?' Bad choice of words, but they are really big to me. :p

It looks like you're using the standard glows.
Installing some up-to-date engine trail graphics set should clear those issues.
Try using the L-B hybrid graphics (http://www.penguinbomb.com/lightspeed/Bobboau_Lightspeed_Maps_V1.2.zip).
The intersection problem is something yet to be fixed by the SCP team (sadly).

Viralphrame, what Lightspeed said would help but I would recommend trying out Fs2_Open (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php/FS2_Open). An installation guide with files (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php/Downloading%20and%20Installing) can be found @ the wiki (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/) and the Media VP files (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/fsdoc/index.php/media%20VP)(you will need to install fs2_open to use this) will not only solve your engine glows to an extent as described by Lightspeed but will enhance gameplay by 10+ fold... :D btw

As he's posting in the SCP forum, I assume he already uses SCP, but without the media VPs.

My mistake.. I thought SCP builds came stock with those Media VPs. Looks like I was wrong!
Edit: For the record, though, I'm using SCP Build 3.6.

Opps, didn't pick up on that :p
Btw I suggest you check the RECENT SCP BUILDS (http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~freespace/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=97) forum often. The newest builds are usually the best to use, they include bug fixes and sometimes upgrades.
