Wouldn't be a big ownage-factor if we could script the briefings as a separate .fs2? So instead of that map-screen, we could have a mission, tagged as without briefing nor debriefing, AI-controlled Alpha 1, invulnerable and set to be ignored by everyone, and a whooooooole lotta waypoints. The HUD would be a problem, unless we can have voice-acting - toggle-hud makes the message-text go away, but a voice-file will apparently play.
This will sort of obviously mean that the briefing in the actual mission-fs2 will have to be non-existant. And loading-time would take away some of the wow-factor, unless it can be dramatically reduced somehow...
What about it?

It sounds cool but that's about it. In my opinion it isn't practical.

I'm sorry, but it's not going to happen. :)

That would be cool :D

I was wondering about something similer, alot of the time, I (maybe more people) in tense missions, want to take a second and look at it from a 3D view, or even just a 2D plot map (I.E X-wing map), is this feasible?

Ace Pace: Well, I believe Kazan was pondering a WC-style Nav-map. Not quite the same thing, but related.
Fury and... that other d00d: Certainly impractical (loading times), and it would be just about as much trouble as making a whole new mission on its own (duh :) )... Well, I suppose we can leave that to cutscene-missions instead of proper briefings.

Considering what can be done with the current briefings, replacing the 2d icons with 3d wireframes would do the trick.
Really though this should be in the modding or SCP forum.
