Where was the GTI Joutneheim? you know from Silent Threat
-
Well, based on the FS2 intro, you could say Deneb... But they never specified the exact system name... And we are confused as to why the Hades was crashed in Deneb in the first place...
-
I was under the impression that the Joutenheim was in Beta Aquilae. As far as why a crashed hades is seen in Deneb, I think the WIP "Silent Threat: Reborn" plans on addressing that.
Later!
-
yeah, they do... They've been changing a lot to make it better AFAIK...
-
IIRC the GTI was in Beta Aquilae for the most part, the intro says different but is full holes so probably shouldn't be trusted (though it is cool)
-
I read somthing a while sayin that the Hades in Deneb was a completely different one though?
-
The Hades in deneb was an interplay stuff up - nothing more serious than that :)
-
The intro isnt specific as to whether the Hades was in Deneb or not. Notice the planet is snowy with trees, whereas the planet with the crashed fighter is desert as high as you can see through the atmosphere. I think the makers of the movie wanted to point out the Hades being destroyed "long ago" to put the player in the right time peroid: Much after GW1 also after ST. However it could just be the latter without the former and have absolutely nothing to do with the storyline, just a perspective thingy.

Actually, you'll see. ;)
Whenever we decide to put out that is... :nervous:

Is there an ST plot summary anywhere?

The intro is actually very specific on that note, with the same fighter you see crash from the battle of Deneb into that planet. The desert world is meant to indicate a planetary catastrophy after the battle was over, though there is no reference to planets made uninhabitable because of a battle on orbit above (with the sole exception of Vasuda). Besides, the Hades was destroyed far from any planet; 32 years doesn't make it very likely that debris from the ship would collectively drift into one, much less in a nearly pristine state. The FS2 intro is known to be crawling with inconsistancies, so it doesn't mean much.
-
maybe the intro makes just wanted a crashed ship to add a bit of atmosphere and just happened to pick the Hades.
-
just because it crashed in desert/mountain rage doesnt mean the planet was devasted, the Sahara and the Himalayas arent left over from a space battle now are they

As said before, ST:R will fix everything. If that powers that be decide to finish it that is.
-
How long till that is out?

If you test it. Didn't you notice I posted another mission? :D
-
I thought it was in Beta Aquilia for sure, but I never really considered that wreckage the Hades at all

Actually, I didn't. :p

We have located the GTI's base of operations- the Jotunheim installation in the Beta Aquilae system.
The full extent of their activities in Beta Aquilae remain unknown. However, we believe the GTI has been studying Shivan culture and technology at Jotunheim since the massacre at Ross 128.
From ST's campaign briefing.

Like what?

The hades is one of the more blatent, but according to FS "canon" there are a lot of problems. The Lucifer fires its beams from the wrong places (although that's where :V: originally wanted them IIRC), the manticore shoots lasers from its missile banks and missles from its lasers, the devestation on the planet, and so on. I'm also not sure that the GTD Legion is not flipped along its centerline.
-
The briefing says the Jotunhiem had been discovered in Beta Aquilae.
The Hades presence in the introduction was an artistic thing only. Although the tech description suggests that there may have been a second destroyer of this class constructed. If thats the case then it may have accidentally or purposely been crashed into the planet...how it got down intact is of course a mystery but we'll take it.
Seeing as the GTVA has prevented people from studying Shivan technology directly and the Hades was rife with Shivan technology its possible that during construction the formation of the GTVA meant that the ship was never finished and infact destroyed.

"Sir we've captured a second Hades intact!"
"Uggg... just get rid of it"
:D

Considering that the GTA and the VPE lost that battle and considering how xenocidal the Shivans are (and also considering the large number of dead bodies and craters), I think it was implied the Shivans destroyed it.

If so, the Lucifer would have to have destroyed the planet prior to the battle...otherwise there wouldn't be an almost completely intact pilot & Hercules left on the planet. The Lucys beams are powerful enough to level cities (based on that FS1 cbani), so it'd almost certainly incinerate any bodies.
Any craters could just as well be debris from the battle, in any case. I think the point of the cutscene was to show the pilot lost, doomed and stranded on a dead world - he died fighting for a ball of dust and rock.
Of course, we don't know that the Shivans are xenophobic. all we know, is that they have destroyed 2(?) worlds - Altair (IIRC...the Anicents planet and Vasuda), and the Capella star. All 3 cases could have potentially been 'touched' by the Ancients in some way - Altair as a colony, Vasuda as possibly a 'child' race which was assisted in developing starflight, and Capella potentially as a result of the Knossos network located several systems away.
