I finally reached the Admiral status and Triple Ace status in FS2, and I've won every medal! WoOt!:)
-
Hmm, so this explains your brown nose. :p
Do you get to backtalk Command now? And order reinforcements around? How about declining missions? "The Sathanas is heading for Capella? Gee...I'd love to help those millions of people, but the Simpson's is on...sorry."
-
Although, you gotta wonder what an Admiral's doing flying around in a fighter.
-
Fighting, what else? :p
-
I've always wondered that
-
Ha, i just thought of this
Alpha 2 (or whoever it was): Dammit! Command let Bosch escape!
Alpha 1 (thinking): I did?
-
Good for you :)
I cant get any higher than commander, or something like that. I think FS2 has stopped recording my scores :(

The SCP isn't helping either. We get reset every time we upgrade.
-
Lol a Admiral in a Fighter.
Command: "Alpha 1, the Command of your Wing have Lt. Commander Snipes"
I think "I'm Admiral and must follow orders of a Lt. Commander? WTF?!"
-
Haha, congratulations. Just make sure you have a copy of your pilot file. ;)
-
Getting Triple Ace is easy, but getting Admiral's status is almost impossible without cheating (in FS1 it does accuse you of cheating when you get that far). The only medal I can't seem to win in the main campaign is the Order of Galatea.

The mission "Proving Grounds," where you get the Order of Galatea, has to be the single most annoying mission in the whole campaign :p. The only reliable way I found of getting that medal would be to focus on disarming the Tiamat's beam cannons as soon as it jumps in. As soon as you're done, high-tail it back to the Aquitaine and fend off the bombers. As far as I can tell, there's absolutely no way to destroy the Tiamat without having the Aquitaine's hull fall below 50%, the threshold for getting the medal. (Actually, I don't think there's any way to destroy it, period :p.)
-
I just remembered playing Starlancer.
In Starlancer your rank decided whether you are or you are not allowed to fly better fighters. That was pretty cool.
But I think that's not possible in FS2 :(
Commanding a capital ship would be nice too.
-
I got an admiral in FS1... It literally took me 6 years of playing...
After commander (or commodor) you pretty much have to exponentiate your score for each promotion... Just uh... How long have you been playing IG? In FS2, it took me 4 years, but i hit rear (or vice... the first one)... Makes me wonder how you managed to get it so fast without A; playing single player templar, or B; making a promotion campaign... :wtf:

I actually managed to disable it once. When the Aqutaine scarpered it just sat there on 2% energy and wouldn't bloody die!
-
probably the lack of a weapon with the huge flag or whatnot...

Weird, on medium I got it on first try, kept the Aquitaine above 50% and got some nice kills.
Personally, got to Admiral(Isn't it rear admiral) in FS1 after 4 years of replaying the campaign, and FS2, well, just now FS2 reguler, the added campaign, the FSport and ST allmost have me there, with all the medals achived long ago.
-
Reaching an Admiral for me is quite impossible. I change my pilot files often.
-
Use Emps against the Tiamat in proving grounds... you can kill it. Now... go read a book. :D :p
-
nope. sat there for 5 minutes (time X as far as it goes) and it sat there with a dozen Fighters hammering it and didn't budge below 2%. Hippo's probably right about the departure of the Aquataine though.
-
in huff cos someone else posted 'go read a book' first.

magatsu1, EMP missiles can kill the Tiamat... very slowly, but they can, try it.
-
Can you carry the EMP in that mission? :wtf:
It can only kill capships if you do an EMP yourself. Enhanced Missile Pack
-
he means it has the huge flag... it does little damage, but will work... eventually...
-
It will work, yes.
-
Every time. Every bloody time this subject is raised someone starts talking without checking the tables! :blah:

$Name: EMP Adv.
+Title: XSTR("GTM-14 EMP Adv.", 3396)

$Flags: ( "player allowed" "EMP") ;; Bomb = can be targeted

I am credulous.
-
:eek2:
*wonders how he always destroys the Tiamat*

I'll take your word for it

The only key to the problem may be that the EMP flag includes the Huge flag. It would be quite illogical, of course.

Maybe I should post the FS1 Admiral debriefing soundclip, because I doubt you achieved it legitimately.

Please do, but shouldn't it be techincly possible by playing every single campaign ever made for FS1, then replaying FS1 campaign, and Silent Threat?
-
No, not really, as you need something like 2 million points to make Admiral. Replaying the campaigns, it would take a long time to get there.

So its possible, just a massive effort and replaying small campaigns dozens of times.
-
EDIT: double post.

Massive is not an expression here. Just imagine: you get 20 points for taking down a Basilisk on Insane. You get 0 points for accomplishing any of your goals. You get at most 500 points for destroying a Lilith. All these points are valid on [glow=red]INSANE[/glow] . Do you think that is possible without cheating or playing 'promotion campaign's?

What about all those things where you and your wingman just anahilate dozens of enemies that come in, what was it called? if someone stuck those as a campaign with points it might work.
Anyway, this after finshing my FS2 medal collection for the 5th time :shaking:
I still want to see the admiral debriefing ;)

Let's guess you take down 24(two dozens) of fighters in a mission like this, while playing on insane. Let's guess you get 15 points for each kills. You have to reach 1 million points to get the Admiral status. So:
15x24 = 360 score per mission
1,000,000/360 = 2777.7 It means you will have to play that mission at least 2778 times, if you keep killing 24 fighters per flight.
Let's guess you get 750 score for completing the 'kill everything that appears as a red dot on your radar' mission goal.
It means you get 750 + 360 = 1110 points per mission. To reach 1 million score, you have to...
(1,000,000 / 1110 = 900.9) ... fly the mission at least 901 times.

Why only 24? or is the Gauntlet (ah remember the name) numbers for FS1?
-
Why only 24? Open FRED, place a fighter and see how many score you get for killing it. (SHIFT-S) window. You will notice that you get fewer than 24 points for each fighters.
-
Sex?
-
I do not know what you mean by that. Who did you direct that post towards?
-
Lol, to quote Lieutenant Loukakis:
Welcome to Vega ensign.
Now I can say 'oh no he didn't!' lol
And i didn't cheat. A big factor that helped was one of the campaigns i created. Primary objectives are worth 100,000, secondary objectives are 10,000 (as much as a Sathanas) and bonus objectives are for one million points! lol I never noticed how much a Sathanas was worth until i had completed the campaign.
-
Which campaign is that? :wtf:
That's cheating in a point of view, you know?
-
Ahh, so you did cheat.
I made a campaign once, where I was in an osiris, and had to bomb a typhon that was at 5% health, worth 1000000 points. I did so, and became Admiral.
And yes. That is cheating. :p
-
I can hardly believe this. Raa agreed with me!
Let's celebrate! :D
-
Do we really disagree all that often? Or is it merely we do not understand what eachother mean all the time? ;)
-
I am certain we do understand each other. We are both intelligent men, we are simply on different wavelength all the time.

well, as long as you stay close enough to the Tiamat the Aquitaine's beam cannons should take it out.
-
Yeah... EMP always seems to do it for me... O.o :wtf: o.O
:nervous: Cheater! Knew it! :nervous:
I'll put up the FS1 soundbyte... Stand by...

It IS possible to get an admiral for FS1, and FS2 obviusly, but it takes YEARS...
