Title: Having trouble starting with map editor
Post by: SadbutTrue on August 26, 2004, 07:54:01 pm
I created a basic scenario/campaign in FRED2, but after saving it i can't see it in the FS2 campaigns list.  I think I might be saving it in the right spot (i have it in data/missions i believe, and in a few other places).  Where shoudl I be saving it?  If thats not the problem, what is?  I'm very new to this, if that wasn't readily apparent

Thanks

Meh, didn't read your post properly, one sec :D

How have you done the campaign, is it a set of seperate missions?

No no, nothign that crazy.  I just basically made a map with one terran fighter against one mara, just to see if i could get them to work, then I'd play with crazier missions and maybe campaigns if I foudn time.  I just don't know where to put it or what else I have to do to access it.

well its prolly in the tech room-mission simulator, unless you put it into a campaign

brilliant.  does this differ in any way from what I would do with downloaded campaigns?

downloaded campaigns will either have a bunch of missions and an .fc2 file or it will all be in a .vp file. With the former, put the missions and .fc2 in you data/missions folder and select the campaign from the campaign select screen. With the latter, just put the .vp in your main FS2 directory (Games/Freespace2). and...

now someone else do the speech.

Yep. Downloaded campaigns will have a .fc2 file, which is the file FS uses to string the missions together. If you DL a campaign, put the mission files and the fc2 into data\missions, then open up FS2, select the campaign from the campaign room, and run it from the main room.

I suspect he might have beem. The first mission in the walkthrough is a terran fighter vs a Mara :D

Then it moves on the more complicated stuff.

Of course I did it so long ago I'm surprised I remember :D
