This compatibility fix when installed will provide Windows 2000/XP with the compatibility settings required for these operating systems to run the X-Wing Collector Series and X-Wing Trilogy versions of X-Wing & TIE Fighter (Also known as X-Wing 95 & TIE Fighter 95) with Hardware 3D Graphics acceleration turned on. The fix also stops the TIE Fighter Launcher from asking you to install DirectX 5.2.

YASE. The Grand Daddy of Space Sims lives again.

I never play X-Wing or Tie Fighter :(.. my first Space-Game within the Star Wars Universe was Rebel Assault;) And later Rogue Squadron 3D and X-Wing Alliance (what i play atm, beside FS2, X-T, X² and WC 3,4,5)
-
Finally! It's been too long since I played my first space sim. I just need to find my CD, it should be around here somewhere :nervous:
-
YES!!!!! The second best game of all time! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
-
and what is the first if may i ask?
-
*looks around at forum contents*
FS2 DUH! :D
-
Sweet!!!!!!!
-
I remember playing the original X-Wing for DOS many years ago. Though, I never really got into space sims until my friend showed me X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter. I still got it kicking around, too bad my joystick doesn't work. :(
-
Now if only they'll do the same with X-Wing vs TIE Fighter....
-
I only have the original version of TIE Fighter, so this won't help me. :(
God, that screenshot just sent such a flood of memories rushing through my head.
-
Hmmmmmmmmmm.... well, it runs ok now under XP with Hardware accell, but the targetting seems fubared, your targetted object no longer flashes :(
-
I used to have both of these, somehow lost them along the way, I still have X-wing Alliance though, justt not the same.:sigh:
Is there anywhere still to get that(X-wing95/Tiefighter95)? Cant seem to find it anywhere
-
Uhm. You basically don't need this one. I've been running XvT for a long time on winxp pro... just turn on the compatiblity mode for the z_xvt.exe executable.
-
This isn't for XvT though, it's for Xwing and Tie Fighter 95 ;)
This simply gets them working in Hardware accelleration mode :D
-
yeah not XvT, the good old ones
-
Yep, my fault :)
-
X-Wing and TIE Fighter for Windows are ****e.
Don't bother getting trying to them - IMHO you are better off getting the DOS version to run via DOSBox or something similar. The experience is much more pleasent (If a lot blockier :))
-
Agreed, the Windows versions suck ass - no dynamic music (the T/F MIDI rocked) and quite honestly I preferred the goraud shaded ships to the ultra low-res textures they put into XvT.
-
WHOOHOO. Now I dont have to hook my mac up anymore!!! Those games kick ass.
-
is that an actual game d/l or what?
-
Not the whole thing, just a patch so they work on win 2k systems. If you want an ISO image of tie fighter badly i might be able to make that up for download sooner or later for all people that want it when I get my ftp server set up.
-
that would be lovely MatthewPapa
-
Anyone have the ISO for Xwing? Xwing vs Tie Fighter? just wondering for later.
-
About damned time. Can't wait to reinstall this when I get home :)
-
ISO yet?
