I'm looking thru the forum member list, by date joined, and I'm seeing tons of new people...but 99% haven't even had one post....why register if you don't post at all?
-
This seems to happen on every forum I've seen. I have no idea why either.
-
Uh.. maybe they want to post later? Or they come here frequently and are just lurking? Or maybe they're scared away by Thunders' freightening body odor?
-
The Derek Smart threads were closed...
-
*methinks the admins should clean out all the 0-posters in the forum, excepting anybody who registered in the last week*
-
They lurk and post some times or just watching and finding info
-
@UT :wtf:
Uhhh... I don't
-
I used to lurk, they just need confidence to post thats all.
-
Which begs the question: IF you don't have enough confidence to speak here, maybe you should go buy some anti-depressants.
-
I am a frequent visitor of the Who's Online window and I hardly ever see any 0-posters lurking.

Well, they goto some forums and ask a noob question and get flamed, you kinda think twice about posting other places. At least that was my reason for not posting for a long while.
-
Hence my point. If you are too scarred to ask your question because some dumbhead goes all "OMG WTF U n0ObZ0r l4mr3~~`!!1" on you, then maybe you should be at a pharmacutical bb instead of here.
-
Eat this: www.map-center.com has 8221 0-posters! http://www.map-center.com/modules.php?name=Members_List&file=index&mode=posts&order=ASC&start=8200
-
Does it bother you guys that someone registers here and don't post?
-
You cannot evaluate the exact size of the FS community.
I bet 50% of 0-posters hasn't played FreeSpace!
-
I myself dont usually post but i visit this site frequently for info

No offense, HIG, but....what?
And anyway, TopAce is right. Really only the people that actually post surf the forums. People just register and leave it.

'Whoops sorry, I mean why this thread? if someone don't post
who cares? because I don't :)
-
Whenever I have a question I use that little search thingy in the right upper corner.. And it seems to work cos' I've found all answers that i needed..
Maybe the fear of getting flamed by "veterans" scares some people, so they don't post... Maybe...
Yay!! My first post! ...Maybe I should start spamming to increase my post count... I've noticed that some people do it :D
-
:welcome:
Primus :)
-
Hello there Primus! ;)
We don't flame people who uses the search feature :p
-
1. Not everyone wants to post, even though they are pretty active followers of HLP. Some people just go and grab the latest SCP toys and leave.
2. People register just for the hell of it.
3. omg n00b wth
4. Some people register here to make something stupid, then figure out the errors of their ways and leave. Never coming back. The Mystery People. We tremble in fear.
5. YAWZA
-
We don't flame people here anyway. We offer them to our neighbourly Shivan Carl, or we fry them by way of beam. We never flame :p
-
Thank you for the warm welcome :)
No flaming? Good. But what does Shivan Carl do? Bite? :D
-
I'm a single figures poster on several other boards. I search, join, ask the question, and never post again because I'm generally not all that interested in the subject of the board I've signed up for, I just need help with one specific issue or another. Some boards even make you join to search, which is just annoying.

Well, you'll know if you don't have any food with when you encounter him in one of the numerous dark corridors in the HLP forums....

Aye.
Example: I joined AVault a month ago, only to call Derek Smart a homo for two or so posts. Don't really have any other interest in the place other than that.
-
I think I'm still banned there... :D

You are a true patriot, sir.
-
I salute you!
And sometimes I sign up for forums and never get around to posting anything. But not very often. Keep in mind it is free, so what's the harm?
-
I've had fantasies about registering at the Steam forums and spamming the boards with threads about how Steam sucks various farm animals.
-
Does steam truly suck?
-
Trust me: Never join any forums on computer hardware unless you just want to ask a question.
-
me thinks UT is right, but instead get rid of users who haven't been to HLP within year or so and have a 0 post count.
Do you know how hard it is  to look for someone in the members section, I've got to go through 2 pages sometimes, can you believe that.

You must be exhausted after clicking your left nouse button twice!?
:eek2:
Meh...

Blue Lion, although Steam is not the worst disaster ever to plague a game, it leaves a lot to be desired. It has more patches than a Derek Smart game, and it just generally adds an unnecessary level of complication to the games.
-
It's memory footprint is far too large for what it does.
Its just a pain in the ass to have to start up one program just to start another one. Particularly one that wont let you launch the game if it can't connect to the internet, and takes bloody ages to launch.
-
Yeah, I've been wondering about that. I have Half-Life on this computer because I downloaded it through Steam, but I want to install it on another computer that doesn't have an internet connection, and I was wondering if that was possible. Their FAQ section doesn't quite answer that.

Why should you care? Having alot of members does not hurt anyone. I for one don't post anything but I get alot of interesting information from this site; like doing searches on the forms for any questions I need answering. Just because someone does not post it doesn't mean that they aren't happy to be a memeber. Maybe people like myself like to support this site. Anyways that's my view. Maybe I'll post something one day- maybe not. Regards.
-
Another reason you probably dont see them is because only admins can see invisible users.
-
Ok, this is absurd...
1. and most importantl---> It's not hurting anybody
2. Why are you *****ing about members who don't post!? :wtf: Think about it...
3. No one is going to go anywhere so...
4. If you do a search, very many, newbs were flamed... (I remember Ant Thrax) But that's the worst I remember. If you felt unwelcomed, then under anger made a scene or not, would you come back?
5. Stop posting peeves, there more annoying than the actual, problem and/or over exaggeration...
Someone close this stupid thread...
-
I think instead numerous kicking a feature should be implemented in the forum:
Hide 0-posters.
Another option could be:
Hide lurkers.
-
I remember I posted on one forum and asked a simple question. They disected my post like crazy. Made me not want to post anymore.
I still lurk there, though. I think I have a post count of 4.
-
I remember one of my threads I first posted here, I was accused of advertising spybot :nervous:
I can still find it too... But it didn't bother me 'that" much, untill they spamed/damned that Topic to hell :D
-

He eats.
Just give him your lunch, you'll be fine ;)

Isn't that what I said?
And tell me this: why NOT get rid of them? They haven't ever posted in forever. Most of the people here are using examples where they registered on a forum and posted a question once: these guys haven't posted at all. Why NOT just get rid of them? What's it gonna hurt if you delete a guy that registered a year ago and never posted once?
Not to mention it would more easily allow us to see exactly how many people actually participate in the FS2 community.
-
Ahhhh so now we are having an argument on 0 posters huh? Maybe the reason they haven't posted is because they know eventually someones gonna make a thread that puts them in the center of attention. At least thats whay I would think. :p
But really folks is it that big of deal? What should be done is that every new member we spot should be given a warm welcome when they first get on. By use of PM's. That way we wouldn't have as much 0 posters at all.
-
Even the ones that have been here since 2000, and still have 0 posts? :D

Forget about them nothing can be done they are lost in the void which is my blackhole. :p I'm talking about every new member that pops up.

Doesn't make difference.
How come none of the Admins posted here?

No, it just gets annoying, its like using explorer in windows. I also use the computer for most of the day, working/studying that is. :blah:

Not exactly :p

If they've only been here for several months it'll take some time for new users to sink in and use the SCP.
