Title: Phase-outs
Post by: Flipside on August 29, 2004, 11:41:56 am
I keep getting these 'phase-outs' where my vision narrows and I get really dizzy, it's kinda like when you stand up to fast, but it happens if I do so much as stretch. It's starting to annoy me :(

I forgot what that means...

Was it low blood sugar or something?
anyway, I get them and they go away once I do something physical, running, ect.

Low blood sugar? Not enough sleep?

Wouldn't it be better to ask a doct0r rather than a collection of gamers?

What? You don't think anyone who can find a faulty SEXP event trigger can diagnose ailments?

Spoken to a doctor already, it's probably a lack of fresh air, I spend too much damn time in front of this computer ;)

Happens to me all the time. It's where your vision just sort of blanks out, right?
Yea, it's not enough sleep, too much soda, etc.

Happens to me sometimes. I don't think its anything un-natural, most people have that.

Yeah, I used to get it a lot if I stood up too fast, might also be the pills I'm having to take at the moment, bloody Seroxin :(

It's probably just a mixture of too much sitting still, too much caffeine and too little air :)

I get them every now and then as well. It could very well be a number of things. Of course the best and 1st thing you should do is go to a doctor. But personally for me it was only because I was croutching too much infront of the screen and my ceiling fan was blwonig cold air to my back, so my shoulders got stiff. After some stretching of my back and neck and fresh air I felt better. I guess it has something to do with restriction of bloodflow to the brain or something... Dunno.

What I personally hate are those weird days I have where I think I've forgotten something, try bloody hard to remember it, or at the same time feel a constant sense of deja vu, about everything. Then at one moment I realises what I forgot and I get this major flash of thoughts and memories like I've suddenly become all knowing. Its euphoric almost, lasts a few seconds, then I get really dizzy and my ears ring and I have to sit down. And I'm in a total cold sweat. Hasn't happened now for a while now, hopefully not for a long time after... Hmm...

Anyway... Fresh air, no medicine like it.

It is restriction of blood to the brain. You don't get enough oxygen and all. It's fairly common to people who spend a lot of time sitting down.

See a doctor ASAP. You could be suffering from low blood suger or many other different conditions, so I'd recommend having a professional diagnose you first, as it can be quite serious.

Well, I've been tested for Diabetes and Anaemia, I'm clear on both counts, though I really should stop taking 3 sugars in my coffee at my age ;)

My windows keeps blowing closed at night, it's one of those rubber-sealed ones. I need to find something to prop it open with I think, I've been yawning all day, and that's a sure sign of oxygen deprivation.

Edit : More like a 'Greyout' Kosh, I don't actually lose awareness, but I often need to sit very still for a few moments and wait for my vision to clear, but I am aware of what is going on.

I get 'em if I've been sitting about for ages and then stand up quickly. It's low blood pressure due to lack of movement. Just get more exercise, ya lazy bugger. ;)
