Title: The reconstruction... (56k beware)
Post by: Taristin on August 29, 2004, 05:49:22 pm
You all remember my Integra, right? Got hit by the Dodge Ram back in March? (Then again in the parking lot at work, while I was busy... working, about a month and a half ago... :hopping: )

Well, I managed to scrape enough money together to get new fenders. Which have since been installed, and removed for painting.
Well, some pics, for those of you that care... or are even remotely interested. I'll accept either. ;)

I took off the fenders, but left the hood on, because those parts are going to paint tomorrow morning. (I canna' afford to have the whole thing painted, so I have to settle for the replacement parts, only. For now.)

Got hit on the driver's side front fender. Rams are big machines. Crumpled my fender, but only dented his bumper... :doubt:

The back end. Yes.I know... Ricer exhaust. I don't care. It's fun to sound like you could take any car on the road, even though most other cars will pwn me.

Ain't it cute? :p  Honda S2000 antenna conversion! Looks sweet too. :)

Needs to be cleaned, but this, my friends, is the Honda B18b1 non-vtec motor. Good for 140 Hp. (At the flywheel :p) It's peppy enough, and it rev's like crazy. Leave your 4-banger remarks at the door, please. ;)

And that, guys, is what it looks like as of right now. Tomorrow morning, me and my Dad'll take off the hood, and load it, along with the other parts to the body shop for painting.
I can't wait! It's been looking all wrong for too long.
My spoiler comes tomorrow, also. :D
And if all this goes well, I can get rid of the 14" hubcaps, and upgrade to the Kosei K-1 rims I've been eyeing since last May. :p

Also... just for the hell of it...

The family attention whore. her name's Sheba. AKC Certified Pure German Shepard. Ph34r her cuteness...

and How big are the rims?

Er. I didn't see him while trying to make a left turn. He had a white truck, and it snowed the night before. :( I think he was going above the speed limit, but I can't prove anything. And the Insurance Co's already blamed me. :blah:

I'm looking at 16"ers. Because I think that anything larger will look funny. They're white painted rims. Find them at www.tirerack.com ;)

Dude i think these would look better on the Integra, and 17's arent bad on them but 16's look the most proportional. (best friend has one, so i know about em)

Ehh. I like the look of white rims on a red car. I lurk on Honda-tech.com all the time, and the best looking red R's have white rims. ;)

Just an upgraded head unit. I'm too broke to buy extravagances like that. :blah: It's a pioneer DEHP... err  something that plays MP3's and amplifies my radio for the little antenna, so I'm happy.

you should check out some pawn shops man, I got my whole system for under $300 and you can hear me from down the street :p

Post by: Taristin on August 29, 2004, 08:23:26 pm
Meh. I'm not really into that, so much. Besides, I listen to strange music.

Anywho, if I could, I'l like to get it converted from an automatic to a manual. Then I could work on the motor a bit. I keep seeing all these cool things you can do to the b18, but then I remember that the automatic transmission sucks 40% of it's Horsepower down the tubes.

A shame, that.
Title: The reconstruction... (56k beware)
Post by: Night Hammer on August 29, 2004, 08:36:01 pm
i dont think you can change a stick to an automatic, at least without it costing a bunch of cash
Title: The reconstruction... (56k beware)
Post by: Taristin on August 29, 2004, 08:44:24 pm
Costs about a grand. And they do it all the time. Hardest part is runnning the clutch pedal. But I can't afford to get it done. It's 500.00 for the paintjob alone, and it's only the nose. :doubt:

Edit: Meh. Thanks alot. I spend all this time taking pictures and decide to actually share something with you, and only 2 people reply. Last time I do this. I promise.

It only looks burgandy in these pics for some reason. Bad lighting, I think. It's Milano Red. A very rich color.

And yeah. 1.8Litre. Dual overhead Cam... all that good stuff.

why would you wanna convert to Auto BTW ? Honda's (so I'm told) have some of the best gearboxes goin'. Not to mention that revy engine.
Title: The reconstruction... (56k beware)
Post by: Taristin on August 30, 2004, 10:53:25 am
I want to convert from auto. The auto gearbox is crappy. The manuals, however, are excellent. :blah:

Heh. They stopped selling Daewoo here. Shortly after GM bought them out... or something like that.  Anyway, my bro likes the sound of my exhaust. Claims it sounds like a real performer. :p

The car is a beauty, and good job on cleaning it up so far.  I rather admire people who do their own work on cars.

 Shattered it. It's held together with glue, and held in place with tie-straps. :p Jiggles when I hit a bump...

In the first pic? Yes... the Hudson valley in spring time.  That's actuallythe highway department's gravel yard :p But the weeds that grow in front of it hide that nice enough. This area is very crowded... and very mountainous. That's why you see so many cars parked along the street. No driveways because of the slope/grade of the terrain. Hopefully we'll be moving from here soon, to some place where I'll have a garage to store this beauty. :)

The exhaust reminds me of what the previous owner of my sister's VW Polo Mk3 did to the exhaust on the poor thing - to make it look larger, they had a fake plastic thingummy stuck on the end. It wiggled off easily, thankfully. They also painted some lovely original hubcaps black and stuck fake plastic ones of those on too. Ugh.

By far the funniest things on it though were the rear speakers. The parcel shelf had holes cut in it, into which were fitted new units - however, these new units were wired up with hi-fi signal cable (the really heavily shielded stuff). Along with a bass speaker, which had been removed before we bought the car. All this meaning that there were three high-drain units, connected to the amp with around three strands of copper each. It's a miracle they didn't just start an impromptu campfire.

Ehrm, it's a "certified real german shepard"? I mean, it's white... :wtf:

Concerning the car : looks good. Though I'm not a fan of those sports-like cars. You sure spent some hours polishing it, eh? :D

American Kennel Certified Pure Bred German Shepard.  It's rare to get white ones, but they're out there.

And yes... Polished it for about 2 hours the night before.  Some day I'll start snapping more pics. Maybe with the Bear Mountain Bridge at night in the background next time.

Yea, my friend has one. They are some of the most beautiful albeit protective dogs I know. They will protect their owner at all costs. Kinda neat because I have seen it in action before with another dog. My friend got his in New Mexico or Colorodo (cant remember which), what about you?

not on all cars, maybe on those little 4 bangers, but then again, those engines they had trouble implementing an A/C compressor into because of the drag it put on the engine :blah:

looks good though :D

Interesting. You won't see one of those here in Germany - the German Shepard Association has very doubtful breeding standards, which often result in dogs having malformations.

On topic : you don't want to come over and polish my car, do you? :D

I read 4 wheel drive can suck up to 40% of the engine output too.

Well.. hmm. Where to start...  The dog, she's a mush. Absolutely loves to play. But she will get mean if she senses danger. Even when we don't. She's great.

The car: A/C is something I never use. The strain is aweful.I have to press the gas 3/4th the way down to get the same horsepower as 1/4th the way normally. So it's never on, except for every now and then to lubricate the workings.
The transmission, though, is one of the poorest implemented by Honda, IMO. The 5 speed integra's are really quick. But the automatics have lousy (very lousy) acceleration. I have to mash it pretty hard sometimes to go as fast as other cars. (Not to speed, but to keepup with traffic... :doubt: ) I'd love to make it a manual...

But if I really had the money... CRV block, Type-S head, and the type-S 6-speed transmission swapped into it would be real nice. ;7
