Anyone know where the GTVA pilot academy was? Beta Aquilae was my guess, any speculations?
-
Sounds about right.
-
Probably in Beta Aquilae, 'cause IIRC that's the capital of the GTVA.
-
Beta Aquilae? I thought that either Delta Serpentis, or Deneb were the main systems...
-
Nah they always siad BA was the capitol, but DS sounds reasonable for the academy, and in Deneb you think theyd be a little more worried about the NTF bein there if it were the capitol system
-
Delta Serpantis was where the provisional GTA government was before the GTA collapsed.
-
Maybe the fleet HQ for whatver fleet the pilot is assigned to? Which would make it Capella for the player.
As the training uses VR mostly, it could be anywhere....even simply spread out across installations and destroyers (i.e. fighter carrying vessels).
-
Ok so there isnt just a main flight school?

Delta Serprentis is the capital...
-
According to....... well a campaign thatll be here soon, BA is the capitol
-
They probably had provincial capitals. I wouldn't be surprised if most colonies had pilot training utilities. The training missions cannot really be considered 'flight school' since we, as the player, only need to brush up on what keys do what, very little else. Proper GTVA training would, no doubt, be far more extensive ;)
So I'd expect that training would take place on most major installations.

My guess is pre FS1 it was Sol. Then probably the fleet HQ theory. If you want to make like a big one for a campaign, I'd agree with Beta Aquilae. Or whatever GTVA system is most well defended. There are probably different ones for Terrans and Vasudans, with the Vasudas msot likely being near Vasuda Prime or its system.
-
Aldabarran for the vasudans.
Delta Serpentis for the Terrans.
-
Any reason why?
-
The Vasudans went back to Vasuda Prime because once the cities were destroyed Luci moved on, being a desert type world with little in the way of temperate zones not much would have changed ecologically and thus the Vasudans would have gone home to the Ancestral Capital of the Empire.
Cappella was one of the most populated systems, but since the GTVA Charter was signed in Beta Aquilae, it makes sense that the Terrans capitol world would be here till a way to Earth was found/rebuilt.
-
Facts from FS canon:
1) When the Lucifer glassed Vasuda Prime, "most of the landmass was rendered uninhabitable" -- from FS1 SM3-01.
2) The Vasudans' new home system is Aldebaran. :V: said so after FS1.
3) The Hades tech description states that the GTA's provisional government after FS1 was based in Delta Serpentis.
4) SM1-09 states that the capital of the GTVA is indeed in Beta Aquilae.
-
So is Aldeberan the New Vasuda Prime? Or did the Vasudans go back and clean up their homeworld?
-
The homeworld itself was made uninhabitable, but there are probably other planets in that system they colonized.

Not sure. This is the only mention of it that I could find:From the VWatch Archives review (http://archives.volitionwatch.com/fs1/review/display.php3?MissID=117) of The Destiny of Peace
...the player discovers a conspiracy revolving around the conflict between the Terran and Vasudan interests to colonize a planet in Manda. Unfortunately, the campaign describes the Vasudan interest in this planet as their new homeworld, but a Volition employee has already stated that the new Vasudan homeworld will be on Aldeberran.
-
It was stated on the VBB.
While it's assumed the majority of the Vasudan population is on Aldeberran, Vasuda Prime probably still serves as a ceremonial homeworld where the Emporer lives, etc.
At least that's how it is in a... certain campaign that is coming out.
-
I used to use the re-colonisation (or otherwise) of Vasuda Prime as a plotpoint quite often.... i.e. Terrans build sol gate & Vasudans get pissy because Vasuda is neglected (in terms of investment), GTVA contacts Sol and uses new tech from there (because Sol would get pretty crowded and need to terraform living space) to re-terraform Vasuda, etc.
-
I'd think they'd have a few...
-
Actually, I figure there should be a flight school in many systems. The main "Top Gun" type schools would likely be near the capitols, but the regular, run of the mill ones could be scattered all over the place.
-
It's all done by correspondance-courses. :nervous:

Sorry for the slight thread necromancy, but I can confirm for a fact that the GTVA capital is in Beta Aquilae. I was just re-playing FS2, and I failed the mission "Into the Maelstrom," where you're supposed to defend 2 gas miners and a cargo ship. The debriefing for the failure mentioned that the Security Council in the capital of Beta Aquilae was turning against the Colossus, feeling that it was too much of a resource hog for its own good. Anyway, there's some canon evidence, at least :).

;)
Though your post certainly goes into more detail. :)

Whoops, guess I missed something :p. Just as a sidenote, I have no idea why I failed that mission; when I replayed it, I beat it with absolutely no trouble.
