Title: Terra Nova
Post by: mrfun on August 30, 2004, 10:47:58 pm
Anyone play Looking Glass' Terra Nova back in '96?  One of the best games ever made, imo, but a retail flop.  As PC Gamer once put it, "This is the game you've been asking people to make for years and you didn't buy it!! What the hell is wrong with you??!"

I've been knocking this idea around for a couple years and have decided to start following up on it and see if it will actually lead anywhere.  I want to write terra-nova based fiction, though it will more likely end up terra-nova like because of copyrights and all that, and I expect it to change far enough beyond the original premise that it will no longer be the same by the time I'm done with it (assuming I ever finish).  I'm really using it more as an inspiration and starting point.

Thing is, while I'm talented at descriptive writing and figuring out sets of complicated details, I suck at plotlines.  I've got a few starting ideas, but I figured I might share the idea and look for some input.  If anyone is interested in giving me feedback or possibly helping to flesh out a working plotline, PM me or use this thread and I'll start throwing out the ideas I have so far.  Keep in mind this is a tentative project, atm I am feeling it out to see if it'll hold water.

You're missing out- awesome squad based fps.  Doesn't work with windows very well though.

Old school, I remember I d/led a demo one time just so I could go back and relive it, but man... it's old. Could hardly stand the graphics. Fun for it's time though.

Extremely good, but little outdated on graphics, though.

[color=66ff00]I actually find myself regretting that I can't play games that are old but great, if the graphics aren't there I'm just not drawn in. I couldn't face elite or any of the 'classic' games today.

The exception is the SNES, but for some reason I don't get the same satisfaction from ports of SNES games on the GBA.

SNES was pretty much the peak of 2D gameplay, that's why.
