Well, erm..... ooops! Not quite sure what else to say on that! However it was meant, not a very well placed comment to make ;)

Yes... he's quite the cunning linguist...

If you take a minute to think about it, he's right. You can't get to a point where every single threat of terrorism on the planet is completely eradicated. You can do your best to dismantle major organizations and regimes that support them, but you can never completely eradicate the threat. Of course, the average Joe probably wouldn't put that much thought into it...
-
It's not whether he's right or not, it's that he's an idiot.
-
Wouldnt that make the war on terror a suicide mission?
-
The whole thing is that he IS right, but his side isn't supposed to admit something like that, half their re-election campaign is 'Help us win the War on Terror'.
And it would certainly put it in the same box as Vietnam, in my opinion.
-
Hence, what I said. :D

I know, I was replying to Mongoose ;)
-
Ahh, righto. :)

Hey, it was only a matter of time. Anyone who remembers "Fool me once..." would know that Bush has a knack for saying things that he really shouldn't. He's been trained since 2000, but given the increased publicity of a campaign sheer probability dictates that he will eventually say something stupid.
-
What I find annoying is the fact that Edwards makes comments such as: "This is a war we will win!!!!11111" when his rebuttal should have been-
"The president has for three years told us that this is a conventional war that can be won, and now he changes his story. I have heard that he is a man of vision who stays the course, but it is clear that he changes his vision and course when it suits him."

If the war cannot be won, the why the hell is the US spending billions to fight it?
It actually does remind me of a quote from the last cinematic from the terran campaign in Starcraft:
"The tides of an unwinnable war are upon us...."

Cause Americans like to waste money on unwinable wars. c.f War on Drugs.

Dunno, but i bet Halliburton are making an absolute killing from it.........
-
well that, and also because the whole thing is a sham. Declaring a War on Terror is in effect the same as declaring a war on Eurasia (or was that Eastasia?). Perpetual war gives the government all the benefits of war-time, with none of the hassles; such as actually having to measure progress with the ultimate and achievable goal of victory.

War, huh, what is it good for...

[q]Calling war divisive for the country, President Bush (news - web sites) said he will continue pursuing diplomatic rather than military options to try to get Iran to halt its nuclear program.[/q]
Could it be because he's got too many assets commited elsewhere?

He's probably getting mixed up between Iran and Iraq on the map... after all, they're big words.
