I was thinking about genetic engineering latley and was wondering what would happen if the D.N.A was reomved from an egg and replaced with the D.N.A from a sperm that contained a Y chromosome
andd then fertilised with another sperm that also contained a Y chromosome, perhaps some sort of super male would develop or a freak of some kind or the cell would be completly unviable.
-
It would probably result in a broken egg.
-
Dead Cell...
-
supposing it was a different universe and the cell lived what then.
-
I'm gonna say 'blank slate'.
-
Hard to say. Having XYY is actually a reasonably common occurence (Especially in scotland apparently where the odds of it happening are 1 in 1000).
-
XYY is a documented syndrome, as is XXYY. YY is not exactly something that can occur naturally, so we don't know anything about it... But lacking the X chromosome, a fetus may not develop into a human fit enough to be born (if it will even develop). Certain genes would be lacking, and will likely cause all sort of hormone creation, hormone balance, and glandular issues that are probably necessary for fetus development. If "he" survived, "he" would probably lack sweat glands at least... and that would suck...
-
Isn't that Down's Syndrome?
I'm not that 'learned' in genetics, so I'm probably wrong...
-
in downs syndrome people have 1 extra chromosome but its not an x or y (i think), people wirh additional sex chromosomes develop weird deformities like both sex organs, some are alright like xxx
-
It would lead to eradiction of weaker sex and to a world filled with joy, guns, beer and desperate homogays.
voted SUPERMAN

Techinacly women could takeover the world like that because men are no longer needed with this new cloning stuff, the society of the future, pink fluffy and boring.
-
Why isn't 'Taelon' an option?
-
The probability of ever getting YY is impossible, therfore, for one to try to visualize it, is also impossible...
-
X has many of the information that is needed for a human to form so... not going to happen

That's a fair point. There's a lot of important stuff on the X-chromosome.

I feel I'm not alone when I say: **** it, let's have a go anyway.

Yea, but they'd have to give up sex.
I doubt the entire female population of the world would want to become a bunch of virgin lesbians :D
-
The genetic information for a human is contained in both chromosones, Whilst one can be 'dominant', I'm pretty certain that a lack of one type would mean that certain 'triggers' would not be set-off during pregnancy, resulting in an under-developed foetus, and most likely miscarriage as the body rejects it.
-
We already know what happens with YY. Hasn't anyone ever heard of Mike Tyson?
-
Or watched Alien 3 ;)
-
not possible. certain genes needed for human life are only carried on the X chromosome.
-
If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

w00t!! Loved that show, up until the last season.
If YY were possible, we would have documented it by now. So I know it's not possible and I dont need to know much of genetics.

I think that Wonder Woman would happen. :D
