Title: Donnie Darko

Anyone seen this ? Understand it ? If not, you ain't the only one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246578/board/threads/)

Universes, Wormholes and Donnie Darko is a pretty good thread (the board interface is wank though)

Put simply: Donnie is the new Jesus.

He "operates in God's channel" with knowledge of the future and Frank is there to keep him on-track, to make sure that real Frank gets shot in the face. After that, Donnie is on his own to make his choice.

The entire film is about things ****ing up because of him and him sacrificing himself to fix it.

Also, the annoying teacher woman is right all the way through. Donnie *****es about the emotion-line of love and hate, he tries to argue that there are other things, but in the end the entire film boils down to love and hate.

Oh and there actually is an answer and a real point to it, because Jake Gyllehnalanlenyall said he knew what it was in some interview.

Minor question, in the previews I've seen for Donnie Darko, there's a jet engine.  Why?  Whats it's importance?

(JT8D, i think)

I'll admit i haven't seen Donnie Darko yet, I'm to lazy to watch films these days - 2 hours is so much concentration! Anyway you can get it on DVD for £5 now (not a pirate copy or nothing), that's probably worth it.

It made sense to me having watched it once - things really came together having watched it again - and then even more so from then on.

It's a truly masterful film.

I only got the £5 version, so no extra's or commentary.

Bastages.

We all need a film about love and hats.

...is not as good as Donnie Darko.

I watched it once and didn't quite understand it, but still thought it was bloody awesome. Once I heard they were making a Director's Cut version I decided to wait until that was released before buying it and watching it again.
