Title: Airsoft/paintball?
Post by: Unknown Target on September 08, 2004, 10:57:15 am
Hey all :) I was wondering: does anyone here play airsoft/paintball? If so, what guns do you have? Who do you play with? When do you play? Rules? etc.

I personally play airsoft and have a crew of about 15 people, about 8-10 of which play regularly. We play in abandoned ruins, forests, fields, etc. Our current favorite is an old abandoned hotel near where I live (there's no actual arenas on our island, paintball or otherwise).

I just got a gun I bought from someone I know, however, I had to give it up when an accident caused by me and another person bent one of the guy's I play with's Super-9 rifle. I bent the barrell back, but he didn't want it, so I gave him my thigh holster, pistol, and two clips as a monetary exchange, and I got to keep the rifle (he's still waiting for the 50 bucks from the other guy :D). On top of that I have a Beretta M9 (spring) I got from a friend. It's missing one of the latches, so I have to use a bent paper clip to hold it together, and he lost the magazine, so I have to get a new one (all my dough was spent on that new pistol).

We usually play attack vs. attack, or small teams of 2 or 3 versus each other.

What about all you guys? :)

I played paintball once, a few years ago. Those things sting like a *****, so I decided that maybe it wasn't the sport for me.

Airsoft is illegal here, because it looks too much like a real gun and can be used for threatening and cop suicide.

Paintball, dunno, illegal for a minor for sure.

And Carl, I don't know what happened, care to enlighten me?

[color=66ff00]Over here in N. Ireland airsoft guns are a dodgy affair, there have been many instances of the RUC shooting people (even a kid once) because they thought the person had a real gun.

Paintball is rife here but it's an expensive affiar. I'm working on a rather advanced lazer tag system at the mo, once I get the electronics sorted out I was thinking of making replicas of the Halo machine gun to mount the parts in or perhaps a P90 replica as both guns are badass. :)

I play as much paintball as I can afford, which equates to two sessions a year if I'm lucky

I'm in a similar boat to DG. I've been once, had a helluvca lotta fun, but since I paid pretty much the equivalent of half to three quuartes of what  earn in a n average week, regular outings aren;t exactly on my agenda.

I play Airsoft... (though, it doesn't sound right to say play Airsoft...)... I don't have any gund, but a friend of mine does, so I've used his M4 (with grenade launcher :D )... Problem is, there's relativly no mounts for stock launchers, so he had to jury-rig his own... Fun as hell though...

I've been paintballing once, for a friends 18th.  Turns out I'm suprisingly good at it... not amazing aim or nothing, but quit good at not getting hit.  In 7 games over a day, I got hit just 3 times: once in the leg, once on my gun (which did count) and once on the top of the head (which didn't count, but was sore).
I suppose not everyone likes lieing in a mudy ditch behind some logs on a cold november day the way I do.

Paintball is too expensive for my budget to handle anymore. I still airsoft though.

You know you can put 6MM paintballs in airsoft spring guns, right? Altho it wards the warranty because they might burst, which is solved by simply taking the gun apart and cleaning the barrel.

I've played paintball a couple times. It's damn fun. I don't have a gun of my own though, so I rent crappy ones from the place and damn if the paintballs go flying every direction except for straight.
And yeah, they sting like a *****. Somebody snuck up behind me once and shot me in the back of the knee from five feet away. I had a nasty bruise there for three weeks.

Lots of fun though.

A friend o mine is really into airsoft. He's got an m16 + a few pistols. I'm not too into being shot at, never actually done it, sounds pretty fun tho. My other friend tried to get into it, but he's one of those people that things just break around, and he had a spring mp5. He was out shooting at random things, and the little handle on the bolt broke off. I think he fixed it by ramming a mini screwdriver with a sharp point into the bolt. I think he ended up completely destroying the gun. I think I'd rather get into airsoft than paintball, hurts _slightly_ less, as long as the people aren't using the insane 500fps sniper rifles...

yeah that was before your time, before most people's time here.  Carl was walking along, just minding his own business, when a stray paintball hit him in the eye.  this resulted in major problems and operations, poor guy.

We already have the Serious Sam wannabe role filled though ;)

Counld be handy since you could just claim to be artillery and sit about 1/2 mile outside the combat area carpet shelling ;)

Am I alone in noticing the staff round here have a fascination in 'Big guns'? :nervous: ;)

I know a guy who has a vast collection of airsofts including a berreta, a deagle, a sig, a MP5, a M16, a kalishkanov, a tommy, and some sort of gun that was featured in a James Bond movie (includes blowback automatic cocking and has a very nice look).

[color=66ff00]You think we're bad?

Shrike only works with CAM and gridfire. It's a royal pain in the arse to  clean up the planet fragments.

deepblue: uhh, that would be the Walther P99, right? the James Bond one...

for any of you that have played airsoft, whats the pain level like, compared to paintball? Cause if its not too bad then...its guns, man, guns! I would have one less excuse to continue stalling and just go out and buy enough firepower to epuip a small army like I should've done back in dickety-four.

The pain level for airsoft is quite below the pain level for paintball :) Me and my buddies have spring guns and we can play without armor or tac gear (altho we do wear safety glasses).

the airsoft-obsessed chap I was talking about before has a potato-gun type system that hurls 20 oz bottles full of airsoft pellets that send pellets everywhere when they hit the ground. It's nifty.

Oh, one nice thing about airsoft, is that you can play in national forests/parks because the bbs are biodegradable.

yeah, most paintballs are too, but they stain woodland creatures :D ... Don't go shooting the animals with the BB's either though... :nervous:

I played a bit of airsoft when I was a kid, and was pretty into paintball for a couple years as well, but I quit paintball because of the people. Just.. in the midwest US, there are way too many crazy gun freak types that honestly scare the crap out of me. So I just play darts now. :D

yeah.  most paintballs are primarily soap, so if anything, you're doing nature (and any person you hit) a favor ;)

except the squerrils :p ... It gets all gummy in the fur, and makes a general mess...

gets gummy in the fur?  damn, you've shot a squirrel? i'm suprised you didn't kill it, or at the very least knock it out.

i never have, and never will shoot an animal with my paintball gun.  i know people that have shot at deers, squirrels, even domestic pets with their guns, but i can't bring myself to do that.
