Especially with my new ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card

Gloat, gloat.

Seriously though, thanks to everyone that brought us the wonder that is the Source Code Project.

Just got my new computer working and I am speechless at the awesomeness of the SCP. (Why must I have to go to school tomorrow?!?)

Not to ruin the party... but no Shinemaps :doubt:

So enjoy it, i'm enjoying smooth 80 FPS, you can probebly hit 90.

Shinemaps work fine, oddly enough. Bizare.

Yeah, i've hit 110. Sweet. Wierd choppyness problems though. Huh. Oh well. Still better than my old Geforce 2 MX 400 (30 FPS, baby!)

SCP STILL RULES ALL!

EDIT: Choppy-thing fixed. By the way, when is that new texture thing coming out, Lightspeed? Eagerily awaiting!

EDIT TWO: Sorry about all the edits. Trying not to post excessively. And maybe, since for some wierd reason my shinemaps work, I could go help the ATI people.

What Catalyst drivers & OS are you using?

Could you post screenies? When I first ran SCP I also thought I had the shinemaps, got confused with something else.
Title: Uh, oh
Post by: Blitzerland on September 11, 2004, 09:40:23 am
I'm having hosting problems, so I dunno if I can post screenies. I can only post BMPS, not JPGs or GIFS. This may take a while to load (few minutes), but it proves without a doubt i've got working shine.

Operating system: Windows 98
Catalyst: 4.7

Hope that helps. I still have no idea why shine works for me. Hopefully some smart person will figure it out, and then we can save the poor saps that can't run them.

Don't ever do that again... :D

There has been various threads where people posted BMPs.  Please use JPGs when using pictures with the Internet.  BMPs and the Internet do not mix well...

Because that server you hosted from is pure junk, and that bitmap took me 30min to load half the image, I thought I'd go ahead and do you the favor of actually hosting the damn image. (the actual act of me  copying and pasting and hosting the image took about 1/60th of the time it'd take to load the ****ing image.)

The top part is green because I couldn't wait for your insanely slow host to load the rest of the image.

Hey hey, judging from BD's screenie it really seems to work.

And I can't see what you have against the server? It's downloading at whole 0.8 KB/s!!!!!!11111oenoneoneone

Thank you, BD. Freewebs sucks, I know. I will switch soon.

And yes, it does work. Less so with fighters, but on capital ships, it really "shines."

Hee, hee. Not funny.

Anyway, i'll be typing up my full system and graphics card specs and posting them soon.  Maybe then we can solve this issue once and for all.

I'll find a better image hoster so I can post more images.

The best part of this is (since shinemaps work for me) that I can use Lightspeed's Shine 4.0 Textures! Woo-Hoo! Gloat. Gloat.

Anyone can use them, because even when shinemaps wont work, you still have glowmaps, env maps, and better base textures. :D

Look, all you got to do is sign up for a GeoCities account, upload the image and rename it to "insertnamehere.txt" and it will bypass the no sharing images filter.  You still have to deal with the bandwidth issue but sharing a 5k JPG in a thread that's been viewed 100 times is only 500k.

Oh. Okay. That's good, then!

Sadly, as I have posted in another thread, something went horribly, terribly, frighteningingly wrong with SCP. Must...fix...

4.8 doesn't have shinemapping for me... So I went back to 4.4

I didn't try 4.7, though...

Fixed my graphics card problem...kind of. Anyways, yes, SCP does indeed own me. Seriously.

4.6 might have shine mapping, at least does for me. It's so much of a difference when you go from no-shine to shine. I don't know how I could live without it now. :D
Title: Where is the latest FRED?
Post by: Blitzerland on September 11, 2004, 08:46:54 pm
I recently reinstalled SCP, so I was wondering where I could get the latest (and/or most stable) FRED.

My campaign, Legacy (14 missions done! Woo-hoo!), needs it.

Also, I need Hippo to finish that upgraded Hades model he was going to make for me. Take your time, though, Hippo!

Thanks.

For a stable Fred, I suggest the one in the Fred 'n FS CVS thread. But don't take the first one, get the one on the second or third page.
Title: Done

Got FRED! Now, to improve mission 11 and to start work on mission 15! Hoo, ha, ha!

The only thing that ticks me off about SCP is FRED. Come to think of it, I wonder how it got messed up. Anyone remember?

If you're talking about the messed up waypoint and briefing stuff, I think that has to do with 2d overlays being projected into 3d space or something. I'm not a coder, so I'm probably wrong. Anyway you get used to it after awhile.

Lets not talk about who messed it up. It is not important. What is important is that it is broken and it will get fixed.

Sorry. I was just curious as to WHAT broke it, not WHO.
